I was never good in her class but she was a great teacher. She always wants kids to learn and tires her hardest to make it fun. We play games and she buys us donuts. The work is fine as long as you don't procrastinate. But I 100% recommend her and you will have fun in class. She makes sure you are learning.
If this is the same Janice Miller I had as an English teacher in the 60's in N.Y. you kids are lucky to have her. I am the person I am today because of her example and teaching skills.
The best english teacher I've ever had. She is the most thoughtful and hard working person I know. Before her, I only partially liked english due to my lousy essay work and uninteresting classwork. Miller has made me love english and she inspires me with her kindheartedness and encouragement and is there when you need a good push. You get the sense that she truly immerses herself in her students and classroom and takes teaching seriously.
Ms. Miller is one of the most complex teachers, I've ever had. She doesn't care much about what most people took from reading a book. She truly cares for your opinion.
Really knowledgeable. Great discussions. High expectations for our work and the time we need to put in, but she really helps us there.
I had her freshman year and she made class exciting and fun, however this year it is completely different. Sometimes she will be very nice and sometimes she will give extreme attitude. Basically, she doesn't respect students that aren't in honors or ap english. I have yet to hear of anyone that is in curriculum 1 english get an a. She doesn't explain work and doesn't prepare us for essays. The books we read are unclear and she'll spend time talking about things that are unnessesary.
Ms. Miller knows what she's talking about, but she isn't very clear when she assigns certain written work, you almost have to figure out what you need to do on your own. And she's always smiling, even
She's a really nice person who I found to also be an interesting teacher in terms of teaching methods and grading. She can be very helpful and understanding as well. A definite favorite.
She's very nice but sometimes gives too much work at once
pretty challenging class...very nice person and knows the subject
shes a nice person, but sometimes gives too much work. her class environment is bad... but guess its not her fault
My faveorite teacher, I always looked forward to English last year.
She's not very interesting and isn't very clear on things. She's a nice person don't get me wrong and she'll try to help you but still not one of my favorites
She's a great teacher. Sometimes her meaning may be unclear, but she always tries to make class interesting and is a very lenient grader. Her superniceness seems more suited as a third grade teacher, and she always wants a "deeper" meaning that goes even beyond the themes of the book, which is very annoying, but if you can stand that, then she is the English teacher you want to get.
Ms.Miller is a pretty good teacher. She has some very interesting classroom acivities and she can make the class participate in discussions. She is very nice, and is happy to help.
ms. miller is awesome. she is down to earth and nice. the only thing is her work is sometimes strange and excessive. she is very easily persuaded
Goodbye Newton! (I'm graduating). Was one of my favorite teachers. Good luck to you.
She cares about us. She tries to give us interesting readings and movies, even if they don't always work.
True, Easiest english class ever. It's great how we get Tests about motifs and what we think not actual facts
Works hard to bring a variety of different kinds of materials into the class. A new teacher to Newton who is caring.
Easiest english class i have ever had. Not challenged at all. You can see that she tries, but i dont think she is up to that high school level yet. Maybe next year : )
I really like her. Shes a new teacher, so she doesnt really know her way around too well, but overall shes very commited to making her students good at English.
