Incredibly rude to students and takes absolutely no nonsense, but you will not learn more English with any other professor. She was one of the best reality checks for me in my sophomore year and was the only English teacher that I could say improved my vocabulary, reading, and writing skills. 100% recommend if you want to experience the definition of tough love.
Mrs. Simms is a very good teacher. A student may be flabbergasted with her strict mannerisms and regime, but one will not only learn; one will retain and be forever thankful. I know I have been over the past 25+ years for having such a wonderful teacher as part of my education.
Mrs. Simms is probably the best English teacher you can get sophomore year. you will learn an plethora of new words, and how they can actually be used in real life. She can be a little intimidating, b
She is a good teacher, but she is WAY to mean to students, and un necisarily puts down students on a regular basis. this is unaceptable
You know she is really a great person. She wants the students to do their own work and she motivates them too. She is funny and her only downfall is that she is intimidating. I get along well with her
Although I found Mrs. Simms EXTREMELY intimidating, i though she was a great teacher, crazy, but good.
Mean-spirited and intimidating. Class is extremely stressful, and individuality is discouraged. Teaches vocabulary very well, but that doesn't make up for her abrasive personality.
People say shes tough but really as long as you get the work done, shes just like any teacher. Except that she has really high expectations and is set in her ways! big time!
She can be very abrasive to students who, in her eyes, are morons, but she is an excellent teacher. Good book and movie recommendations, and she teaches you a LOT about writing.
Ms, Simms seems EXTREMELY mean and hard at the beginning of the year...but as the year goes on she becomes ALOT nicer and you learn a TON from her. Although the class is very hard, you will learn ALOT
Difficult to get used to. Extremely stressful class.
The vocab queen of the English department. It's a shame her abrasive (albeit infrequently so) personality is such a deterrent to otherwise loyal students.
If you don't like her, you've done something to get on her bad side. Be a good student, stay off her bad side, and then you'll love her.
at first i didn't like her at all, but now i love her class and look foward to it though i used to dread it. she used to hate us i think but now she loves us
She plays favorites. If she doesn't like you, forget it! Worst teacher I've ever had. Made me dislike English (which I previously loved).
Mrs. Simms may be hard and expects a lot, but I learned more from her than any other teacher. In college, I still remember every vocab word from her. The best
For those who don't like Mrs. Simms, she's amazing and you're not valuing her wisdom. She will really prepare you for the real world.
hard, strict, explains vocab well, good teacher, very intelligent, dangerous to get on her bad side, good if she likes you though
another awful english teacher. rather snobish, did not make englsih fun, visual vocab day is an awful experience and should be banned. up there with Mcglaughlin
She is very hard, and sometimes not the nicest of people. But if she warms up to you, then she can be alright....
She's one of those teachers who has her cranky moments. Overall, she's okay in my book.
I had her Soph year and LOVED HER.. .She is a little tough, but she is a GREAT Teacher... Anyone who complains is just complaining because she isn;t an easy-A..
honestly she would be a much better teacher if A.she put assignments on the board and didnt lie about it, and B. stoped favoring students
She only cared about changing the name of the mascot. Natick Redman was an ethnic slur. Whatever. Let it go and be concerned with classes.
