He is rude and unfair. He refuses to explain things in a different way or try to help his students succeed. It almost seems like he wants them to fail. He must hate his job.
Here is a list of what to expect from Mr. Mace
1 A bland room, he shows no interest in anything.
2 Disorganization from day 1, he has papers thrown in cabinets.
3 Bad lectures, read from the textbook, with illegible notes on the board.
4 Condescending responses to questions if he may have already gone over it.
5 Little advice on what to study, or what will be on the test.
6 No debate or compliance if you argue a question.
7 Takes tests off the internet
8 Uses other teachers resources.
Not only doesn't answer your questions, but makes you feel dumb for asking in the first place. Usually hands back tests in 1 month after grading so that you forget the material and why you made a mistake. The textbooks were cr*p, but you'd better get used to them or drop the class since he doesn't teach you anything. The class will make your life a living h*ll. If there is one class that you dread going to, this one will be it unless you also happen to take ap bio.
He expects you to learn everything on your own.
He is a horrible teacher, he does seem like he somewhat knows the material, but he does not teach it well. I think that he does not enjoy teaching and the only reason he is a teacher here is so that he can be the swim coach. He is also very mean and has a couple of favorites. I did fine but he did not teach the material well.
I had him during the 2013-2014 school year in the ap statistics course, I am a sophmore. He understands the course very well, but he should not be a teacher. He cannot do the one thing teachers are supposed to do, convey his knowledge to the students
He is honestly one of the worst teachers I've had. I'll admit that he knows the material, but he is rude, unhelpful, and one of the most disrespectful teachers I've ever had the misfortune of having. I was successful in AP Stats, but I taught myself.
DOES HE DO ANYTHING BESIDES READ DEFINITIONS FROM THE BOOK? I can read too, you know. Sucky thing is, Boone is apparently crappy too. I want to like him, I really do but it's hard when he explains things to you in a way that makes you feel like you're 5. I don't hate him really. Some teachers just aren't very good and it's not their fault but it really sucks for the students who aren't like MATH wizards. My question wasn't even stupid anyway. I don't know, maybe my opinion will change later.
Honestly ruined sophomore year for me. He's always stubborn about everything and he's just a moron. Also he is lazy so if you have him, pray.
A decently nice person, but made this class a lot harder than it should have been. I would recommend getting a tutor and forming a good relationship with other students because that is where most of your instruction will be coming from. NEVER ask even a remotely similar question to one you've asked before or he will probably end up embarassing you a little bit. I got a good grade in the class but I've never felt like a teacher has made me feel so incapable before.
Mr. Mace isn't as bad as they say! His tests are hard though and he doesn't always answer your questions clearly, but other than that, he's a good teacher!
I know a lot of people don't like Mace but I don't mind him at all. He's a good AP Stats teacher and helps us out a lot. He's a really nice guy and don't be scared just because so many people don't like him, he's not as bad as they say.
I had him both in 10th and 12th grade, and he's improved so much when teaching Calc AB. He's very helpful during class time, and prepares great notes/lectures. I highly recommend Calc AB over BC.
If you're happy with learning out of the book, you MIGHT be ok... even then, he's ridiculously stubborn on his answer key and isn't clear when explaining things in class.
could be the worst teacher i have had, doesn't help out, hardly teaches, leaves it up to you
More of a supervising adult than a teacher. Writes some notes, leaves plenty of work time. ASK HIM QUESTIONS. Relaxed about tardiness-- often comes in late himself. Kind guy but lazy teacher.
I love Mr. Mace! He is the best math teacher I have ever had. I only wish he would assign more homework so I could learn even more!
He's a nice man, likes to teach and seems to enjoy classes. Yet, he's hard to understand, and NEVER stays after school to help students. (He says to come in the morning, but he's never found in the classroom.) Finds tests exciting.
