She's soo annoying omfg and her temper is so bad. Also her class is extremely boring and dull. People say that if you do debate then she'll like you but that's not even true. She's just so biased.
She plays favorites, so you'll either have a great time or a mediocre one.
Either way, you'll actually learn a lot, and have fun with some of the activities. She's a fan of presentations and performances, which is great if you're of the creative inclination. Just be nice to her and she'll be nice to you. Her class, while sometimes harsh, is actually really fair, and my opinion of her has grown over time.
Downside—she tends not to give many written comments on essays. Talk to her in person.
Her class isn't too hard but she's really harsh during presentations and criticizes people a lot. For books, pay attention to her explanations because she will quiz you on that and she's actually really fair about it. She can be mean and rude but her class was ok.
I've heard she's great with her journalism class. If you have her for English, she sometimes makes assignments unclear and has busy work. Overall, she has mood swings but just get on her good side.
If you are in journalism, she is the NICEST person you will ever meet. Screw all theseratings! SHE THE REAL DEAL COOL
She picks favorites, and children to pick on. She's always off topic and frequently has "bad days."
up to 3d quarter was alright, but it was death after that.
hard(ish) class but fair. she's definitely reasonable and she's given some really nice gifts this year like extensions =]
During the year, I thought that she was a great teacher. Then I realized that I didn't learn ANYTHING in her class. It was just lectures and tests on the lectures. I don't know why she teaches. She doesn't like kids.... It was an easy class though and the projects were fun.
You might want to ignore more of the glowing reports about Seavey on this page-she told our class she writes some for herself to make herself feel better, instead of simply listening to the critiques.
Mostly for rising freshmen... One of the major perks of Seavey is that she pushes back deadlines SO much. This year, our DuPont was pushed back by multiple weeks, and my Iliad PowerPoint was pushed back for over a month. In addition, we're about to enter our third day of the Odyssey unit, and we just got past where we should've gotten to on the first day. A lot of the projects are fun, too.
You'll be in serious trouble if you don't listen to her in class because her lectures really aren't replaceable. Don't try to be obnoxious in class but DO express your opinion. She teaches with this great charisma and has an unforgettable personality. She's VERY clear and fair. I still like her as a teacher albeit bad grades I've received. It's a love or hate hit with Mrs. Seavey.
Her classes were hard, but if you try hard, she definitely recognizes you. Some of her major projects were hard, but I had so much fun doing them. She can be intimidating and moody, but she's got true passion for her subject and I think she's a great teacher, although I've had my bumps on the road with her.
Never listens to you. Always thinks she's right. Hypocrite. Extremely arrogant. You always want to say something back to her but you know she won't listen and will just listen to you. Even during "discussions" if you don't agree with her she will yell at you and tell your wrong even if the topic is purely opinion.
As a teacher, she is pretty good. She's passionate about what she teaches, and loves it. Shes entertaining too. As a person, not so much. Very rude. Blunt. It's one thing to tell things like it is, it's another to go over the top and a hypocrite. She complains about so much, but seriously, we've so much we could say to you, but we dont. Also, she needs to get over herself and her accomplishments.
Always thinks she's right. NEVER open for other considerations. Her way or the highway, pretty much.
Seavey is really hard, but in the end you learn ALOT in her class and I thought it was worth it. She can be hilarious at times too! Make sure she likes you though.
Rude and she's never open to talk to. Everything changes when she's on your side. At least she was honest in September. She said students end up liking her, but I'm still not fond of her.
Shes a difficult teacher and picks favorites, but if you're in journalism you're set. At times she can be impossible but other times she can be alright. Also, shes very picky and has an attitude.
she makes you work, but she teaches you a lot. she's incredibly picky though
I'm sure she's a great teacher-IF she likes you, and that 'if' can make a big difference. she picked on me and she managed to make me cry twice the year I had her. Thinks she's a great teacher.
Very good teacher. Just make sure you're on her good side like I am. Be funny, participate, and turn in everything on time.
Fair teacher and not that hard a class. Quizzes and test can be tough, but you really learn a lot in this class. You actually can develop good writing skills if you just put in the effort.
She is hard grading on tests, but she does get a little silly at times. There's hardly ever homework, but when it comes you really need to work hard.
I had her for novel rotation, and I was disappointed with my final grade. But we really discussed the novel and didn't have much homework.
Yeah, get with the program. If you do the work, you'll get the grade. You might even learn some grammar in the process...
Mrs. Seavey helped me through draft after draft of my Dupont Challenge. And I'm a guy.
Teachs you, but when she asks for the truth about what you think of her, lie, beacuse I told her she was loud and obnoxious and now she hates me.
Picked me out to hate me from day one because I made peopel laugh. In her opinion gilrs > guys. Tells werd stories all the time. Do homework, dont forget anything.
Not as hard as some people say. I really enjoyed class and I got to like her. She teaches well and is enthusastic and gives lots of free points. She really helps with writing. Good teacher.
She's one of those people who doesn't like dumb/persisting questions. Don't make too many excuses or she'll get very angry with you. Turn in your homework on time. Do that and you're good
Great teacher.Thankfully, there's not much grammar. If you're good at english, you'll do fantastic. She's great at teaching literature and writing. She has a little bit of an eccentric but she's cool.
The class was challenging. but fun. she's a cool lady.
Class is pretty good if you're one of her favorites. If you're not, WATCH OUT. Made me cry twice, albeit unintentionally. One redeeming quality: Curriculum is the most in-depth of all IBET english.
this class definitly isn't easy, you have to work hard, study and turn in multiple graphs if you want a good grade. But undoubtedly THE BEST 9th grade english teacher. YOu learn an incredible abount, cover a vast amount of literature and even (some times) have a great class. You never fall asleep in class it is always engaging (lots of ZINGS). with hard work this class has made me an emensely better writer. A good teacher can make all the difference in this subject and Mrs. S is a GREAT one
A great teacher, one of the best teachers I've ever had. She lets you know about every oppurtunity, and makes sure everything that you're learning in IBET is clear.
sure you learn a lot, but shes not just loud, shes incredibly rude and disrespectful. she expects students to value her, and think that she knows everything, and is not willing to discuss something with you unless you think shes right. any dissagreements means she's right. she will also twist things that you say unless you are in her jounalism class in which case she will love you even if you're a horrible writer. Has very little respect for those who don't idolize her. another english knowitall
She has some idiosyncracies that take getting used to but once you do, you'll realize that she's the best teacher in the IBET. She's also one of the best teachers I've had during 9th grade. She teaches well and helps your writing. Reading is actually pretty fun since you can tell that she wants to be there and has a passion for the literature. She's not too hard of a teacher and their is not too much work and class is really fun. Overall. she's a helpful and great english teacher.
Good teacher and a pretty easy and fun class. I've learned a lot and my writing has improved as well. Mrs. Seavey has some flaws as any teacher but she more than makes up for it. Best english teacher I've had.
She's ok I guess. Her grading system is really strange and she can be too blunt and loud at times. I've actually learned stuff though.
Finally, there are some people with common sense. She's has some edge, but better that than useless nonsense!
If you call having rules rude then Mrs. Seavey has rules. Get real...she rocks!
No one spends more time trying to get her students to write better.
Great teacher.... though a little hard to approach with that constant yelling as her normal talking.
I liked journalism so much I stayed an extra semester. Mrs. Seavey is great. My writing got so much better after working with her. Great class, awesome lady!
IBET was... interesting. my rotation made her cry. =( we all felt so bad about it afterwards... she is such a strickler on grading - but I ended up liking her.
she was a good teacher and surprisingly i learned alot...she just needs to learn how to relate to her students and not be flat out rude to them
She was very rude. She never listened. Most of the homework was really hard but pointless and useless. She yells a lot even when she's not angry.
i thought i hated shakespeare before i started her class - boy was i wrong. best advice i can give: pick a good group for group troupe. you'll see what i mean
A little out there, but a very nice lady, very strange too. We didn't do much in IBET but had fun. Illiad/Homer thing VERY useful.
pretty enthusiastic teacher. teaches quite well. just do all the work
strange at times... but a very good teacher. She listens if you have something to say(usually helps, too). A lot of HW, but gives a lot of time to do it.
shes really good at helping you through a bad day... if youre ever having a bad day go to ms seavey. shes the greatest. period.
I liked that class a lot, but I'm an English person. The thing I'm missing now in HUM is the lack of vocab quizzes and writing assignments... they really help.
Quirky but I loved her. Easy to talk to &honest. If your writing stinks she'll tell you. You can work w/her on it & she'll help you, or whine & not improve
wacky. she didn't like me, i didn't like her. we pretty much avoided each other all year.
She was always making loud interjections in class, plus she graded everything too strictly.
Interesting journalism teacher.... in a good way, I suppose.
My writing Improved so much! If you're a writing fan shes the one to get
Very smart and commands respect, but can be mean and scary
Pretty good if you don't mind the eccentricities; helps a lot if she likes you
Kinda not consistent, but teaches you alot. Often not helpful. But okay
I liked her class, although too much info on her various 'exploits'.
has a unique way of teaching and gives examples we can relate to!
Really needs to calm down and lighten up, oh, and stop using the word "fetish"
She's hard, but she can teach you how to write better.
always willing to help out...all you have to do is ASK!!!
Cool when she's not teaching. Easy class, though never forget about vocab tests.
It's a lot of work, but by all means, don't actually read the Odyssey!!!
Despite being a little hard, she is very nice provided you do all your work
