I had Mr. Matthews for AP Physics. I can't really blame him because he just started teaching AP Physics and AP Physics itself is a new curriculum, but most labs were very confusing and not very insightful and his lectures are very boring. I don't think he prepared us enough for the AP exam, nonetheless, he still tried his best. Hopefully a year or two from now, he might become a better AP Physics teacher.
He is a really nice guy. Besides his niceness he has a really hot temper and will get pissed at you for not doing little things such as not bringing a calculator or ruler. Though he is a knowledgable guy and teaches really well. Just pay attention in class and study your notes every night for 10 minutes and you'll be golden. Good luck for you guys taking his class!
(Physics) Mr. Matthews is a decent teacher, but if you have okay skills in basic algebra the class is extremely easy. Besides his teacher qualities, I see many passive aggressive attacks towards students. He did not allow a girl to borrow a calculater on a quiz from a student and refused to give her one, and then smiling when saying "I can't let you finish your quiz like this." The girl then asked if she could go to the counselors office and he told her she wasn't allowed to leave.
He's a really fair teacher. A lot of people don't think he is just because he could be strict at times but he's really helpful and makes sure you understand. Plus, he always has interesting labs.
He is a pretty good teacher but a really good guy. Learning by inquiry sucks though, I have to say.
He's a good teacher but he does rush through things sometimes and he does have a bad temper. But, he's a nice guy.
goes through things too fast, expects too much too soon, compares our class to other classes, and occassionally loses his temper
He's a great guy but as a teacher he's makes things confusing to the point you can't even anwser. But he's always there to help when asked
Mr. Matthews ROCKS! For a first year teacher, he's got his stuff together.
