SHE IS AN AWESOME, HELPFUL TEACHER.
she's so conceited, she believes that ap chemistry is the most important thing in the world, that getting a 5 on ap chem is more important than any of your other extracurricular activtives -- it's really not. nearly everyone who asked her for a rec last year (thankfully i didn't) didn't get into college because she doesn't spend time on her recs at all. makes you work really hard at nothing.
My experience with Boppana was terrible. You had to be in her class every single day or else she would go mad. When I had to miss class for a religious holiday, she threw a fit and said I was not dedicated to the class and that her class is the only thing that mattered, especially because I would be missing a test, which by the way, I had to make up at 4:50am two days before everyone else. She would even tear out pages out of student's binders just for it messy, even if it was for another class.
She's heartless, but knowledgeable. I had her 2014-2015, and it seems like the woman cares more about her AP scores than she does about teaching chemistry. She makes you prioritize chemistry above all other activities, telling you to drop extracurriculars to succeed in chemistry. How does she write good teacher recommendations if she makes the smart students feel bad about arrogance and less smart students feel bad about their inadequacy? I don't understand why other like her, but avoid her.
Ask her about how her students do on the AP test compared to the rest of America. That's how you know she's legit.
Don't forget the freaking lone pair and you'll be fine. I know you read these, so thanks, Boppana! I owe you a lot :)
For much of this past year, I absolutely hated this woman. I thought she was the most unreasonable, unfair, cruel person for the first 6 months, but then I came to a realization. Everything she does is meant to prepare you for college-textbook notes, deadlines, everything. I'd say that she's the only teacher I've ever had and probably ever will have at CHS that actually succeeds in preparing students for college in addition to the AP. Plus, if you take time to talk to her, she's actually nice.
Avoid this women at all cost. She is mean and has zero chill whatsoever when it comes to insulting her students.
I honestly am laughing at the people who can't handle Boppana's abrasive method of teaching. Everyone who says she's really mean- seriously, stop whining. She genuinely cares and really humbles her students with tough love (who, by the way, are entitled, arrogant students from Potomac, MD-go figure). She is the one teacher that I talk about throughout the years and I have the utmost respect for her. I am 24 and still remember her material. You can't beat that.
Took this class a few years back during my senior, she was a pretty easy teacher. I can always cram at the one to two days before her chapter tests and still get Bs to As. Just do her assigned work and it should be a breeze. About extracurriculars and her class, I was an all season athlete and her workload didn't really conflicted that much, just manage your time wisely, do your work, and if you really need it, go in for help. One of the easiest AP class I got a 5 in. Had a lot of fun!
Mentally ill, incredibly rude and disrespectful, and does not care about students at all. Does not care about student's lives, grades, or health. Terribly lazy and incompetent. Doesn't teach, doesn't care, and overall is the worst teacher at the school. Grading is preposterous, as one small error could drop you from an A to a C on a test. Unreasonable and inexorable in her efforts to ruin the lives and futures of her students. Go for Nugent, not Boppana.
Don't take these ratings as exaggeration. Students in her class suffer from Stockholm Syndrome, collectively allowing her to emotionally abuse students, often bringing them to tears. They are told repeatedly that any bad grade is their fault and THEIRS ALONE - Boppana is faultless - and that chem takes priority over any other student activity. She has forced students to drop other subjects and extracurriculars entirely.
And no one thinks that this is a problem. Because she has good AP scores.
Nice and knowledgeable teacher. Would highly recommend as the class is a guaranteed 'A' as long as she doesn't hate you and you get a 5 on the AP. Disliked her teaching style though. Tried too hard to be mean but always ended up being soft with me ;)
Boppana is an incredibly tough teacher, has very high expectations, and has what can be best described as tough love. She's notorious for having literally the toughest course in the school, with incredibly low first semester grades and an extremely tough grading policy. Under normal situations she would be rude and abrasive with a ridiculous and impractical method of teaching. In many ways, she is the reason that I regret signing up for this course junior year, and not a day goes by that I look longingly at Mr. Nugent's room in hopes that he can rescue me. It's not often that you find yourself hoping for the company of a sometimes-explosive Navy veteran, because he is more peaceful than a middle aged Indian woman.
Still, her method of teaching SOMEHOW WORKS. I don't know how I'll do in her company, but statistics show that Churchill has 5.6x as many 5s on the AP exam than the national average. Former students swear by her effectiveness, and she has equal amounts of respect and fear in the Churchill student community.
She doesn't play by the rules, but she gets results. Boppana is a stereotypical police movie. She puts Marine basic training to shame. I hope to Moses that Nugent will take me in next semester, but I will live if I stay in Boppana.
But no teacher is without flaws. Boppanas flaws are more obvious. She is extremely unforgiving to those who slip up, she brings students to tears regularly, and she is not entirely human. Let the record of this young reviewer state that Boppana may be a lizard in disguise, without empathy, forgiveness, or any sense of the term "positive reinforcement".
To those like me who now close the day with Boppana and her torture chamber, I wish you all Godspeed, and hopefully we may persevere.
Yes no maybe?
She is honestly the best teacher I've ever had. The class is A LOT of work, but she's available at 5:45 AM EVERY DAY. The only teacher crazy enough to do that haha. She isolates your weaknesses and pushes you to better them.
SHe's a tough teacher, but she's a very good teacher and can teach you a lot of things not only about chem. Study skills, life skills, she teaches you how to discipline yourself.
She is pretty difficult but a great teacher and helps you understand. She even has a few jokes making the class more fun than any other science class.
AP chem was a great class. Learnt so much but late night studying was about everynight
She really squeezes other subjects study time, most of your time will spent on "Chemistry",even though you sleep on 2:00am everyday,it is still not enough.
Mrs. Boppana's class made me cry more than any other class ever has and probably more than any other class every will. That being said, all of my friends in college are now jealous that I haven't taken notes in weeks and don't study at all and everything just comes so easy to me because of how great of a teacher she was. While you might hate her cl
Tough tough AP class, but in the end it's all worth it. You may hate all the work, but afterwards it's all worth it. You end the class with a 5 and a great relationship with her. After the AP was straight chilling. Lots of good memories during the class too. As long as kids do what she says, no matter how crazy or harsh it is, do it. And you'll do
Her methods are unorthodox and often unnecessary, but at the end of the day she knows her stuff and is just a bit eccentric. Not worth having for honors chemistry, but will get you the grade in AP
terrifying, but very knowledgeable about the material, and knows how to make students understand. A lot of pressure, though....
Boppana is really an excellent teacher. If you take her class, especially AP Chem, you MUST be willing to work hard and devote a lot of time to the class. She can seem very intimidating or scary at first, but if you do your work, participate in class, and get to know her, you WILL find that she is very accessible, helpful, and knows so much.
I have never met anyone who pushed me as hard as Ms Boppana. It's tough to get a good grade in her class and she makes u work.. HARD. but in the end it is sooo worth it. She's not a mean person she just wants her students to learn for the sake of learning and not just getting the high numbers. Appreciate her she's awesome!!
xD I've only had her for this 2nd semester! She really freaks me out, but I love her. D: She's a really good teacher, and I'm learning a lot! ... But then again I had RUSS 1st semester... so I was learning nothing really. Dx LOL;
Destraction... Distruction... D!! Just study and you'll be OK. The class is very entertaining.
Ms. Boppana is absolutely the most incredible teacher I have ever had here at Churchill. She pushes us as students to do our best. She has made my work ethics excelent. I am so happy to have had her.
Best teacher I ever had. Must have her as a freshmen.
The most amazing teacher ever. Just be sure to be ready for EVERYTHING, because you can get on her bad list very easily. I was scared of her at first, and now she is my favorite teacher.
she's the best teacher to have had and the worst teacher to have. but if you don't care about your grade she's so funny. no light at the end of the tunnel!
my teacher was out for a month and boppanna sub. we learned more from her in 1 month than our teacher in 1 semester. our class is usually rowdy, but when boppanna came we were silent, all trying to grasp the concept. all the smart kids we're asking questions they have saved up for months, which our teacer couldnt answer
Extremely cool chem teacher!! Might seem intimidating at first, but by the end of the year she's really awesome.
Boppana is the best science teacher I have ever had! I love that she makes fun of the kids!! hehehe!!
Shes kinda scary but shes still an awesome teacher. i'm so glad i'm still in her class for this semester
Wonderful teacher. She knows what she is talking about. I wish I had her 2nd semester.
Awesome teacher makes the class interesting and fun. Gets the lesson across and is available for help all the time. Glad to have her again.
Mrs.boppana is a very intersteing teacher. On one hand, i think that she conveys her lessons very well and gets the lesson across, yet i feel that if she spent less time making fun of kids, we could acomlish the lesson faster. On the otehr hand, i admit that I laugh when she makes fun of others, and phh who cares "whatever
not very good about calling people nicknames (ex JZ) overall a great teacher
She is very fair and a great teacher. Must have her atleast once.
sometimes shes good, but sometimes she does take things too far. can also be a little unfair with things btwn classes
BP is one of the smartest teachers that i have ever had she knows what shes talking about and is actually very fair but she can scare you a lot of the time and her first impression of you shows how she treats you
the kind of teacher who talks and if you blank out, then you miss the entire class. also, would make one scary mom. the kind of moms where if you brought your girlfriend/boyfriend home then she'd secretly say to them 'if you break my baby's heart, i'll beat you into a coma. no emotions.'
She is one of the best teachers at this school! Anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong! She knows what she's talking about and is always willing to help you. If you ever get punished or yelled at, then you probably deserve it! Don't hate on B.P.!!
goes too far sometimes in punishment of students... no need to involve parents a lot of the time!! wer not lil kids... besides that-great
Prob. the only teacher I'll miss next year. Scary at first, but you quickly get used to her. Occasionally goes too far, but it's rare... usually hilarious and makes class interesting. As long as you do your work and pay attn. in class you'll do fine. WHATEVERRR!!! Haha, so so many famous Boppana quotes...
coo lest science teacher. Must have her atleast once
Mrs Boppana is a good teacher, but she is very hard. Partial credit would be much better. If you are smart, she likes you, if not, she rags on you all the time. Get on her good side!
bp... i love boppana, shes so funny and even when theres evil lurking around, she still has a smile on her face if that makes any sense to y'all.
she scares me to death sometimes buts shes a really good teacher
She is very good at what she does, and she helps her students to under stand the concepts very well.
i love BP!best teacher ive ever had, but if she doesnt like you...get out of there...boppanas hilarious and as long as youre not the one shes makin fun of its great to hear her make fun of the clowns
She is awesome. She only sometimes gives homework, but when she does she gives like 3 hours worht. She also finds out everything kids talk about the class. She probably even knows that I wrote this.---NO EMOTION!!!
soooo strict and really scary...but get on her good side or your finished and might as well drop the class. just sit there and don't say anything. she hates class clowns too. if you do your homework and don't talk she will loveeee you
BOPS! If that woman wanted to run for supreme ruler of the world, I would support her all the way.
shes a good teacher i guess, but shes hard. also not an easy grader
Awesome teacher. Makes U work hard......yet cool teacher.
MRS BOPPANA!! you are so cool, shes the best science teacher ive ever had, if you want to get a good grade you will.(dont look her directly in the eyes).
she scares alot of people, but get one her good side and shes and AWESOME TEACHER!long as you dont slack you will have fun. so funny and so smart. I LOVE YOU BP!
they call her "BP"- Boiling Point- for a reason. she's a good teacher, but stay on her good side, which means get As and don't talk out of turn.
