Walnut Hill grad at a BFA Acting program here. Joe is the reason I was able to get into college. Period. He has years of expertise and he genuinely cares about ALL his students. Yeah, he can rough and unclear sometimes, but if you actually listen to what he's saying you will find you will improve. I think the fact the WH alums are at top collegiate programs speak to that. If you're really having trouble with him just get a meeting and talk it out. Joe is truly a god-send.
Joe is big on "professionalism" which is good to an extent but he has a tendency to be insensitive and lacks the special quality that all great acting teachers have with which they really see their students as an individual with potential for growth. Being in his class is like being a toddler's toy-- If you're a circular peg, great, you'll fit in the one circular hole he is aware exists, otherwise tough! "You won't make it as an actor" Not that he actually has legit experience... :/
Joe is a very straight forward teacher. He is good at communicating information, but he could be more involved with the students, for sure.
