One of the best teachers I had. Very insightful and interesting to listen to. Do the homework and the class is a breeze.
John Connolly was born on either an army base, a farm, or a north Chicago suburb depending on his mood. Varsity basketball player for Deerfield HS, he could dunk! Played D1 Basketball at U of Texas
By far the best teacher I've had thus far at Niles North. His packets are extremely helpful. He definitely loves himself a lot but nonetheless he is a great teacher.
The class was rote memorization without actual learning. I did well in the class and on the AP test but I don't remember a single thing from the class.
Mr. Connelly is a nice enoigh man but a mediocre teacher. This class was all rote memorization and very little actual learning. Although I did well in the class and on the AP, I cannot remember anything from this class.
Mr. Connelly is up there for one of the best teachers that I have had in my High School career. I don't understand why people score him poorly. He teaches will and provides a lot of insightful info.
Soooo he's a great person, cares about his students (perhaps a little too much). His lectures are extremely boring and they make you want to fall asleep...but then again, I'm not a history fan! =P
Mr. Connelly's continuous poor reviews since I've had him do not surprise me. He should really try and find a balance between being a good teacher and creating an environment kids want to be in.
kicked me out of class for not having a book, smug, never admits it when he's wrong, most learning comes from the packets, but what a COOL dude. great personality, intelligent, captivating discussions
arrogant, uncaring, not very understanding, doesnt teach that much, everything i learned was from doing the packets, MC tests were super hard, didnt do enough DBQs but review for the AP test was good
It's almost 10 years later and the packets still haunt me. Learned nothing. He was too full of himself to listen to what student really needed.
Good teacher so far. He acts a little arrogant, but when it comes to history, he's awesome. He knows how to teach, the packets aren't hard! Just tedious!
Knows his material very, very well...discusses quintessential truisms and avoids absolutes
now that packets are optional, there's nothing to complain about
Packets...ehhh....discussions...pay attention!...his examples were incredibly memorable....always available for talk and advice
oh come on guys, mr connelly is awesome, although hard :P
This guy does not know how to teach. he thinks the packets help. when we dont get perfects on the tests, he accuses us of being in college. good music though
He just does not teach. I did well on my AP test, but only because of what I taught myself from the book the entire year. He also plays favorites (usually guys)
connoleys a grt. teacher. u learn a lot hes really hard, but its worth it
I like him as a person, but I think he lacks in the teaching department. He doesn't teach that much in class, he just tries to confuse us with big words.
He is ruthless, condescending, and rude. He expects us to spend all the time in our life on doing his packets and stuying, he needs to lighten up a lot.
prepares you real well for the AP test but he only likes to do things his way and he's really really hard, doesnt budge much
mr connelly class is da best. sure we have unending packets, but you can sleep in the class and still do good on the AP test.
Mr. Connelly is one of the best teachers that I have ever had!! He teaches a person the material and also how to learn effectively! He is the BEST HANDS DOWN!! He knows how to prepare you for life! WE LOVE YOU MR. CONNELLY!!!!
the class was definetly worth taking. we learned so much by the end of the year, and the AP was easy. However, i definetly didn't like the lack of teaching on his part 2nd semester.
Very insightful teacher. Understands the education process as well as the students. His style is superb but wish he would lighten up on his tests and weekly packets. Very intelligent and has my respect.
i love mr. connelly! his class is not easy but ive learned a lot and hes always willing to help!
