Mr. Labonne was the best English teacher I've ever had. He was really helpful with essay writing and was a really cool teacher. He really likes his students to participate in his classes. Overall, I was really glad that I was able to have him as my teacher in my first year at Stuyvesant High School before he retired. Best of luck to him in all his future endeavors!!!

Mr. LaBonne is a cool guy, and he is passionate about his job as an English teacher. He could be mean sometimes if you don't follow directions, but if you follow directions, be polite and greet him everyday, PARTICIPATE (he sees if you tried), and do well on his vocab quizes (which are easy because he reviews it a day before the quiz) his class will be a great experience.

Okay, NO. Mr. La Bonne is really good. The only problems are with the essays, but after the first one, if you do bad, you need help. Aim for at least a 3 which is in the low 80s. DO NOT TRANSFER OUT. He's one of the few teachers who counts tests and quizzes as part of your grade, and they're easy. You people are complaining about his essays, but at least participation, homework, tests, and quizzes help your grade balance out. Would you rather have a teacher that focuses completely on essays?

He is very passionate about his job (including writing essays, grammar, the books, etc.). He is a very cool person and talk to the class about just anything. Although he is very strict in grading the essays, you should be a good student and behave and try hard. His quizzes are easy, but the exams about the books aren't that easy to study for. Once I didn't really read a book and got 84. Another exam I did read the book, and I got an 88... General: You should always greet your teachers!

One of the very few teachers that I resent at Stuy. He is quite hypocritical and definitely plays favorites. Get on his good side, otherwise your essay grades will suffer. When he doesn't like you, he will belittle you and make you uncomfortable when you go up to him and ask for essay help.

Mr. La Bonne is a great teacher. He is one of the best English teachers that I've ever had. In order to succeed in his class, you have to participate. A lot. Whenever there is a class discussion, you need to speak up because he appreciates participation. He also gives great input on essays, although he somewhat strict in grading. He gives vocabulary and grammar tests, but they're not hard at all, so don't sweat it. If someone does not like him, that means they were not a good student.

La Bonne is a great English teacher and those who say otherwise probably don't do their work. He's kind of fun and doesn't give much work. If you do the reading and review for the vocab, you'll easily get a good grade. He's harsh on essays but other than that, he's a good teacher. He's very knowledgeable about literature and is always willing to help out. But participation is a must. He enjoys hearing your insight!

We had a mutual hate relationship, but I could not help but laugh when my grade went up. I despise his teaching style and his overly-harsh essay grading. His meager vocabulary and grammar quizzes are another set of exams to cram for while doing nothing to actually care for them. From time to time, there were jokes, but oftentimes the class was a living hell I wanted to break out of.
