Had him as teacher in 10th grade geometry.... Favorite class and teacher at shaler. He interacted as a teacher, more than any others i had. Very glad i had him as a student. Made me love math, even more
Had him in 1986 for Geometry. Did very well in his class. He is a very nice guy, and cares about students. I saw him years later when I subbed there. He was interested in me as a student and a person.
One of my least favorite teachers. I really didn't mind him as a person but as a teacher he is awful. He really didn't actually teach at all, just kind of had you do your homework on the board.
Oh Mr. Lishack....ah....he was a good teacher, He doesn't really teach that much, but it is a critical thinking class. It is very challenging. (I had him for Pre-Calc) Now i'm in college Calculus and it is extremely difficult compared to Mr. Lishack's class cause he at least taught a little and answered questions, but my college professor doesn't teach at all! Mr. Lishack was a cool guy, we got into one big argument and it was rather funny. I would say, if you want a challenge take his class.
I had John Lishack in the 80's . I am now a university professor teaching in the school of education. Of all the teachers I had in my youth (elementary, middle, and high school), this is the teacher that I most remember as the most caring, most dedicated, and most helpful. If only I could have had more teachers like John Lishack!
He's a great guy. I had him for Algebra 2 and I thought that the class was easy. As a teacher, he's not the greatest, but at least he lets you know what's on the test beforehand. He's always glad to tutor as well.
He's cool. Just be sure to ASK if you're having trouble, and that you put forth tons of effort!
has trouble understanding that everyone doesn't learn by listening, and also doesn't get it that some don't understand the first time he teaches it, he just keeps building and leaves people behind
I have him, he's out on injury leave now, but he's an ok teacher. He doesn't really explain anything though, but he does get the lesson across. I do however find his weighted grade system aggravating. 85% tests and quizzes!? and what's with giving scores like 4 and 3/16 out of 5? i've heard of half points and 1/4 points but he goes to 1/16. How annoying!
Makes us think. Those who don't do well should be taking business math.
lishack is far and away the most effective teacher i ever had. he forces the students to think. those that can't adapt to this won't do well, but those that can will learn a ton!
Does not teach...expects you to come up with advanced concepts on your own without any background...DON'T TAKE HIM!
