He wants you to learn and be the best person you can be, and because of that, he isn't a bad guy. His flaw is he lets his hatred of the school system overflow into his class room. If he has a bad day it will fall on you. He picks favorites, and if you aren't one, it's a bumpy ride. There was this one time his only piece of criticism on my intro to a paper was "dumb." Not constructive at all, respect totally lost. He lets emotions play too large a role in grading, and that's an issue.
To this day one of the most energetic, creative, inspiring professors I've ever had. Great respect and admiration for Peterson.
Simply the best all-around educator in Vermont, America and perhaps the World
I had John in his 1st year of teaching. He was "easy" then, but that is not a compliment. He was an outstanding teacher then and is, likely, better now. Rutland and academia are lucky to have him.
John Peterson is absolutely phenominal. He personalizes the material he teaches - keeping his students captivated and responsive. The environment he creates puts everyone at ease.
The best teacher I had in high school. He's the reason I studied history in college.
He is the most amazing teacher in the world! He is funny and insightful and there is a lot to learn from someone as well rounded as he is.
An exciting, intelligent, dedicated master teacher. One of the best in any school.
Peterson is an incredibly amazing teacher. He is inspiring, and the best teacher I've ever had.
