Mr. Rockelman is definitely my favorite teacher, he is really nice and definitely cares about his students. Plus he feeds us. What's better than that.

Rockelman is and was my favorite teacher I ever had. I graduated almost ten years and I still use things he taught me. He is hilarious and one of the warmest, kindest people I have ever met. He genuinely likes his students. You dumb kids will get it someday.

All we did were watch the SAME Yann san episodes everyday. He never had a set schedule, as the textbook was it. Very disorganized man who doesn't even comprehend Japanese at a conversational level.

"We won't really go over grammar this year, because grammar isn't important"-John Rockelman. Also, he's very insecure. He gets mad when you ask for help on grammar! Calls you "Slow". He's a mockery.

He doesn't know kanji...how are you "teaching" us kanji when you don't even know it yourself?!?! He does the wrong stroke order and doesn't even do hiragana correctly either!!!

I'm Japanese and was a student helper. This man is not fluent in the language...which is why he is horrible at teaching the grammar(shouldn't a teacher be fluent in the subj they teach?). I notice he

Take JPN with Rockelman if you're a slacker and don't care to learn JPN. If you are serious and want to learn JPN...find a different teacher. You'll learn NOTHING and be full of frustration!!!

I would have to agree with what everyone else says. I've been in his class for the past 2 years, and I think he could be a lot better at teaching. Our class is VERY fun, and it gets disorganized most of the time. BUT...watching 80's episodes of TMNT in Japanese while eating cake definitely redeems itself.

He is the best teacher ever! He is so much fun! When I come to the japanese parties at his house, it is a blast. His teaching is great!

He mostly lets the student teachers/ teachers from Japan do the teaching for him... When he actually does teach, he seems rather unorganized and doesn't seem to know where we are. Although outside of school, he's a very funny guy. And whenever I ask him a question, he seems to know more than even the Japanese kids. XD

Mr. Rockelman is aptitude in Japanese, but I think he has some trouble communicating with/teaching students. He's pretty disorganized, too, but this makes the classes easy and more enjoyable.
