not too bright. makes up random words like "administrivia" and uses weird expressions e.g. "on your radar". becomes dull and boring after about 5 rehearsals.
is well intentioned but can be verbally abusive and he is just annoying cause he tries to impress us with big words
never makes sense...well at least to me. "everyone turn on your radars!" "hhhh-one two three four..."
Definitely makes up words. Not a great conductor - glosses over many details-cant hold a steady tempo. Likes to hear his own voice. Plays favorites (which is good if you are one).
Makes up random words like "administrivia" tries to hard to be cool and is really weird. Don't like him
retiring after next year (2005-2006)! GLORY BE!!!!!!!!
ugh. he's a good teacher and knows what he's talking about most of the time, but he's just so condescending and plain annoying. and he can't relate to us reeds
I am frustrated about the business this year. Seniors should be in the top band. all the others have another year. It is really unfair.
he's a good teacher, but boring and has a large unfamiliar vocabulary, but picks good music
He is very formal, impatient and intimidating. He is excellent at what he does: conducts h.s. bands. Has an odd vocabulary but it can be ignored..good music.
Ahh, you're all whiners. Thompson is a great music teacher who's trying to make you all be the best band you can be.
definately annoying...I can't stand the Thomsonisms, but can be nice when the mood strikes him
Wow, to teach well as long as he has.... and to get it right... we all should feel lucky we have worked with such a man.
Gotta admit, he was too harsh on percussion. But he will be retiring soon...
I actually like Mr. Thomson most of the time, but his vocabulary is annoying. "Lexicon?" "hackney?" "administrivia?"
He's ok if a bit picky times. He can make the biggest dael over the littlest bit of "administrivia." He is an excelent classical music teacher, however.
He is not exactly a bad teacher, just doesnt care what others think. He never listens to anyone especially me (percussion). He also pretends to be all knowing
He's definately harsh, but he gets it done and he gets it done well. our band is one of the best in the country because of him.
I like Mr. Thomson, even if hes a little mean SOMETIMES
Thompson, not a cool guy. Doesn't listen at ALL to anyone, especially the percussionists. He hates them.
Mr. Thomson is an excellent classical music teacher and appreciates the discipline of it. When it comes to jazz, however, I think the teaching should be left to Mr. Warrick
