He is a great teacher and the reason I keep playing. The only reason he "belittles" his students is to joke around. He isn't always a super serious teacher and I highly recommend him if you are looking for a teacher who you know will make your orchestra the best it can be. He is able to see the best in people, and can bring the best out when others can't. He knows what he's doing, and he knows when he has a goal for the students.
mr. lane is literally my least favorite teacher ever. he tells us we are a waist of out parents tax money and we're worthless. he always is rude and is super pervy... his perv jokes can sometimes be funny but hes just gross... thank god hes getting forced into retirement... lol... but literally he sits there and makes jokes with the girls about how he can show us "pain and suffrage" he is so nasty and im so happy he won't be our teacher any more bc i was going to quit bc of him............omigod
NAnyone can look good in a tux while being recorded, but what you don't see is how he treats his students. He is the most narcissistic, arrogant "human" being ever. If it wasn't for his behavior I Guarentee you that the orchestra would be 2x bigger. He treats students as if they are one of his many ex wives. Personally I'm glad that he's too prideful to sign a stupid contact saying that HE WILL DO HIS JOB.
He is the worst teacher I have ever met. He is incredibly rude to his students if they aren't completely devoted to orchestra. It is hard for me to respect someone that has no respect for his students. He makes me dread going to that class every day and is the reason I don't want to play anymore. He has no respect for authority and I believe that if you have to yell at your students and make them smaller to feel superior, you are petty and a bully.
Mr. Lane cannot control his temper or language. He insults students left and right with no thought for the consequences or the students' feelings. His ego is does not match his ability to play his instrument or to teach. He prioritizes the orchestra over core classes-- he even told two girls they couldn't take the ACT because they were going to miss an orchestra activity. He's affected my mental health and self esteem. He changed how I view myself and my love and passion for music.
Lane-dawg really just wants to make his students into the best players they can possibly be. The only time he is ever difficult with anyone is when it is clear that they aren't practicing, when they're being plain rude and insolent, or when it's obvious that they really just don't care. He can rant, but if you're serious he provides a helpful, if not always extremely pleasant, musical education experience.
A really awesome teacher- he gets the best out of people, even if that means telling you straight up that how you played something sucked. He's musically intelligent and wants perfection. Most times he gets pretty darn close.
He can be harsh at times, but its meant for the better. The results speak for themselves- he has the best orch in the state, possibly the midwest, possiby the country.
we have a "love/hate" relationship. he is an awesome teacher (ive been his student for 4 years), but sometimes he can be a real pain. none the less, hes a good teacher.
as a band student, Mr. Lane's conducting takes some getting used to, and he expects you to be ready, but I have found him very enjoyable and a good teacher.
Knows his stuff and obviously enjoys teaching music. Can be a bit weird, and sometimes thinks that Orchestra comes before all else, but is still a great teacher and conducter. Can't be replaced.
Jon Lane was the most influential teacher in my daughter's high school life. He is eccentric, like many musicians, but that's what makes him so good! East is very fortunate.
great teacher, unhappy man...i enjoy his class and try to understand his unpersonable traits.
Mr. Lane knows what he wants and how to get it--I like him a lot!!
I've had him since 8th grade, and it wasn't until the middle of my Sophomore year that I realized what a cool guy he is. He really is a great guy director.
He can be tough if you're not really serious about music, but i love how we play really good music in his class... it's challenging but a good experience
Mr. lane was the meanest teacher I ever had. He was always insulting people and hurting them. If he taught 1/2 as well as he insulted people, he'd be great.
Odd jokes, but decent class (if he likes you and thinks you're making an honest effort to improve (read: private lessons with the "right" instructors, practice))
Definitely likes girls.....but a good teacher. Has a preference for people who practice, which is understandable.
His Theory class was boring last year. He's not a nice human being.
Mr. Lane bullies his students. Teachers like him give teaching a bad name.
He's a great teacher, he just expects improvement from people who are lazy slobs that don't practice. . .our orchestra could be great if they did!
when i say cool i mean kinda! nice guy... odd jokes... funny!
hes pretty cool unless you arent good (duh!) lets hope u r!
Pretty easy class. Can be hard if you don't practice, but thats a good sign.
