If you participate and pay attention and do your homework, he is really nice to you. If you slack of he points you out in front of the entire class. He was bad at teaching and his tests were impossible unless you speak Spanish. He gave me a hundred for a home work and then during the class I did not pay attention to one thing, he gave me a 0 for the homework.
I'm grateful that I had a native speaker to teach me Spanish. I think it really helped me with my accent. I agree with the others, that he's a really nice guy. Gotta admit, the way some of the kids act in our class, it's no wonder ANY teacher would get frustrated. Can't be easy. But just do your homework, guys!!! And ya gotta review, or else you're just gonna forget what you just studied. I think a lot of the negative comments here are just from kids who don't have strong study habits.
makes fun of students, announces the failing students daily, forgets everything, mood swings, plays by favorites, freaks out when students make mistakes but when he does the same mistake he says "everyone makes mistakes" and dusts it off...
You just have to do what he says and you will get a good grade. If you come late or do not do homework, he gets angry. You have to do all your work and come on time. Thinking back, he was a fair teacher and I missed on an opportunity to learn. Our class was so bad for him that he kept saying he wanted to retire. It is funny now that I think back to it.
hernandez isn't as bad as he seems? he can be in a good mood for the most part but it doesn't take much to piss him off so try refraining from asking the bathroom and stuff. participate!! he'll love you lol, and just study from the textbook if you don't get anything. he tries his best to make others understand and teach the material. exams aren't that bad either
one of the worst teacher u can ever have. if its ur 1st yr in spanish o boy u would learn totally nothing. he doesnt write notes at all almost never explain in english and hate answering ur question. plays favor over the better kids than worse
I first had Ms.Ullman, boy was class hard since my 8th grade spanish teacher sucked! But continued to try in spanish! When Sr.Hernandez was teaching, class was fair! He does play favorites but just do the homework and get on his good side, and i promise you, you will pass with an 80 . I had a 60 in the beginning of the year, but in the end i got a 90!
At first, I didn't like him at all, but some days, he goes pretty easy. Easy to cheat on tests too, but he plays favorites. Overall, he's okay, as long as you're on his good side.
Not the brightest guy around. I should not have passed at ALL. He bases everything on first impressions of people. Weird accent also. Puts up no notes. Trust me, you will learn absolutely with him.
well since im spanish this class is easy, but i think that if i wasnt i probably wouldnt learn anything since he really sucks at explaining and sometimes i dont even understand what he's saying, and he will yell at you for getting a wrong answer and makes you scared to raise your hand, not a good teacher
I did all my work, got 90s on my test and projects, and did not shout/yell, throw paper all over the room, or curse like the other kids in the class but he still gave me a grade of 65 just because of the first two weeks of school where I, according to him, "DID ABSOLUTELY NO THING!!!" The kids who did shout/yell, curse, and throw paper all over the class got 75-90s. I thought that this was unfair, but he doesn't. He fails as a teacher.
Overall i wasnt his favorite so that ment getting yelled at a lot, Althought at first i wasnt a good student on tests, I always did my homework and didnt understand why he would give you a 65 when you did all the HW, PROJ, and got 65% on his tests. Although in the second term i got better grades he still yelled at minor mistakes. His methods of making you do better (yelling at you constantly) doesnt work. Leads to kids skipping and low self esteem. He was easy with his hw and tests though.
He's a really good teacher if you're on his good side. If you know your Spanish, and he knows that, then you're set. He tends to yell at a lot of students and get mad because they don't do a lot of work, which is kind of understandable. But if you listen and pay attention and do his work, then you're good. He plays favorites, but if you are one of them you're good to go, if not, he's fair and grades to how you work and do on tests.
his class is really easy, and he grades pretty fairly, though its VERY obvious he has favorites. he's always saying how lucky we are to have hispanic kids in our class. he sometimes does overreact to little things like incorrectly conjugating a verb or coming into class 5 minutes late. he can kinda tear down your self esteem by saying things like "its no surprise you got this wrong". overall it was an easy course.
at first when when you see him, he looks like a good guy with very little anger issues, but in reality HE OVERREACTS TO EVERYTHING, from being 2-30 mins late, missing a single h.w., or putting a g instead of a y on the board, and he tries to be funny, but he is extremely terrible at it
Mr. Hernandez is one of the nicest teachers I've had in the shcool and a good grade in his class is possible: just memorize those story plots and raise your hand for the easy questions. It should be one of the easiest courses you'll have in the school.
I got by with 90s in his class. I'm a pretty quiet student. I simply have a thing with participation. I can't do it. You could call it a fatal personality flaw, but I am VERY opposed to speaking up in front of people, ESPECIALLY, when I'm not 100% sure I'm right. I remember one time I wrote something (rather stupid) on the board "nosotros es [instead of estamos].." Yes, I made a mistake. But the tone pratically called me stupid. He doesn't clarify, and he puts you down. Terrible teacher.
gets upset whenever someone wants to go to the bathroom -_-
There's no doubt that he plays favorites with the students. You need to be an independent learn to receive a good grade. If you do well on tests, and participate every now and then, you would pass.
if u are quiet, i'll say u are in good shape cz he doesn't pick on quiet students that much. He calls on ppl he likes. Just in case of anything, always be attentive. i don't really like him that much.
He obviously has favorites. If he doesn't like you, you'll be in the back of the room. He doesn't care if you understand or not and his grades aren't fair at all.
Participate a lot and you will have a good advantage in the class
he was cool when i had him last year, just be a good student and he'll like you
Mr. Hernandez is just a really old school teacher and he goes by the book. You will need to do independent study on 1 or 2 things because he doesn't explain. Easy grader as long as you make an effort
Mr. Hernandez is ok. I mean sometimes its just like BOO!! but then all u need to do is like be on good terms with him and u'll get a good grade. i failed his quizzes but did extra credit and was on time and all that and he gave me a 90% so he's meh.
Mr. Hernandez is an old school teacher, do your work, pay attention, and participate!! Its all about the attitude. You have to want to understand spanish. Nice guy, just don't disappoint him. I had him twice.
he's an ok teacher....he does get moody sometimes. but he's understanding...he's nice for the most part but sometimes it's hard to do well on his tests
HE HAS MOODSWINGS SO MUCH U NEVER KNOW WHEN HES GOING TO FLIP OUT AT YOU FOR NO REASON HE HATES WHEN YOU ASK QUESTIONS AND REFUSES TO ANSWER THEM.
with Hernandez, you will find him saying things a teacher shouldnt say, and doing things a teacher shouldnt do.hopefully you are one of his favorites, if not =[
He gave me really good grades in FS6 and FS8, but I understand where most of you are coming from. Lots of mood swings, but he tries to make the class fun.
he gave me the hardest time when i came back to school after being absent for two days. i had a fever and i had a doctor's note. he needs to loosen up!!
he gives too much work and to just get a 90 in his class, u gotta get 90 or above in all his tests.
horribly biased and would not give you the grade you deserve if he doesnt like you. my 90 plus project ONLY got an 80 because 'I didnt deserve it!??"
Mr. Hernandez is aiight. He just needs to chill with his mood swings n understand that not everyone catches onto what he's saying the first time around.
Some days he'll laugh if you didn't do your HW. Other days he'll scream @ you.
Mr. Hernandez's problem is that he can't really understand what you're asking him and he flips out for no reason, which is not cool.
Well... he is trying to teach the way he was taught. If you do what he says, you'll see that he is teaching something.
Eh what can I say...he's an alright teacher-might have mood swings sometimes though
Good teacher, gets annoyed sometimes, but we're all human right?
Have him for FS8, hes alright. Gets annoyed at a moment's notice. He does try, but he needs to try a bit more. If you do the work, you will get a good grade.
just participate in class and dont get on his bad side.all in all good teacher
attitude problem, and avoids teaching when he is not being evaluated, got an 80%
He is a good Spanish teacher. As long as you do the hw, you should pass easily.
You just have to try, 97 for class, and 99 for Regents
hes soo nice, and the class isnt hard...hes a good teacher
He is okay...gave me an 80 for sitting there and doing nothing.
He made us sing De Colores ...that's just not right...
Good teacher, really nice teacher, especially if he likes you
not a good teacher, he is very unhelpful because he thinks we know everything
He's actually a good teacher. Very hardworking and dedicated.
plays favorites alot but if you on good side, good job. has mood swings
great teacher, just needs to fix his attitude problem
