This class was very fun. The test difficulty fluctuated a lot though. Some tests were really easy but others were very challenging.
I have Mr. Martinez for freshman Geometry Honors. He appears to be a knowledgeable teacher and the in class time is very fun. Unfortunately, the tests are very difficult as he is extremely nitpickey. He grades each problem on a test down to the last percent (for each individual problem!), and takes off points for tiny infractions in how good your work shown is, not just if it is shown. On one test, I asked if I had to show work on an easy problem, and he said no, but then took off points later.
He is the only math teacher I have had who actually teaches you the material like a professional. No homework required in this class except the occaisonal red homework.
Mr. Martinez definitely makes class content clear and verifies that students understand the information through occasional "red" homework assignments (only a few of the homeworks are collected and graded), in class problems that he checks individually, and quizzes. No retakes for tests but one midterm per semester can replace your lowest test score. He has great stories! Ask him about stabbing someone with his compass, how he stalked his wife, and the time he almost got arrested.
Although he limits the amount of fun that will go on in the class, the information he teaches is very useful, and he does a great job teaching it. he is really good at explaining why things happen, unlike other teachers who will just present information to you and make you memorize it
Mr. Martinez is a very sarcastic, scary teacher. (He was violent when he was a kid; ask him about his compass and tranquilizers) Very funny and sassy. His tests are very hard and he is knit picky so study harder material than he teaches. Expects a lot from students, but it is understandable because it is an honors class. I would recommend him if you are looking for a good teacher, hard tests, learn a lot, and a sassy persona.
He is always available if you need help. He makes sure you understand the material. He is tough but he is fair. Students who don't like him are students who don't want to do the work, but it is an honor class and he expects you to behave like an honor student. He is funny and friendly. The class is tough and so are the tests, but if you study and take the practice tests then you will do well.
Lots of people complain about him but he's a pretty good teacher and an understanding guy if you speak to him seriously. Geo H first semester is much easier than second, don't let first semester fool you! If you do the homework and complete his practice tests, you'll do well. To prep for tests, do problems more difficult than those he assigns because tests are usually a lot harder than what we practice with.
not a good teacher.
Touched his poster. dont do it.
Mr. Martinez is a pretty chill guy. Geometry Honors is hard, but he's probably the best teacher who teaches it.
He is a good teacher when he isn't droning about math and writing on the board
I had Jose Martinez when I was afreshman in high school during the 04-05 year. The guy was says he was out to get me and my friends saying who was going to do something drastic. Bowever he still hasnt
Freshman Geometry Honors: Class is hard, but it's honors, so expected. Slow to grade work, sometimes didn't return work. Sarcastic.
Best math class (Geometry honors) I ever had. He is funny, explains everything clearly. All the kids in the class like him a lot!
He gives back tests rather quickly, takes about 1-2 nights for him to correct them. Pretty funny, has a good sense of humor. The class is hard, but hey, it's math!
So far, he's been rather nice, and I understand when he explains things. everyone is saying rather negative things so far, but I don't know, so far math is going well...
He is a really hard teacher, but hes a good guy! I was his aid for a while, so I know hes nice. If you ask for help, he'll give it. Dont let him scare you!
If you can transfer out of his class. He is not clear when explaining things, takes a couple weeks to pass back tests, is not very helpful when you ask for help
on tests, hes really nitpicky about little things. half the kids in my class are failing. hes not very understanding and doesnt take any excuses. TRANSFER!
He means well and does pretty good at teaching but you may need to go to his office hours.
ahhhhhhh! do wutever u can to avoid being in his class.
