He is honestly, the man. Had him freshman year. Funniest teacher I have had at Ignatius and will talk for hours about almost anything after class. His tests were hard, and the only strategy to do well on them was to memorize all the notes he gave us. Even though it was challenging, it prepared me for challenging (AP) classes down the road. You will do well if you spread out and take your time on all the work. He also told our class he would leave the country if Trump were elected...
he's great, uses the textbook a litle
Always a pleasure. #theman
He is like a REALLY hard teacher and his tests are death. He doesn't review the day before a test, he makes us do labs... And before the semester final, he literally made us do the hardest lab and he didn't prepare us well for the final. Everybody in my class said they failed, even the kids who have straight A +'s. Like he makes you hates your life and he even knows it. His power points don't have enough information for the test and he explains it too fast. I really don't like him but some do.
Today we ate his candy canes and we weren't supposed to... Never been more scared in my life. But then we started talking about biology and I've never seen him more happy
P Man is hands down the hardest teacher i had at ignatius in my freshman year. Despite how challenging his course is, he teaches you a lot about not only bio, but life. Hilarious, knowledgeable, and all around great guy. Expect super hard tests and very demanding notes, but it's all worth it in the long run. I promise you that.
Hands down greatest teacher at Ignatius. He transforms you into a man and his class is definitely worth it.
Very funny teacher, gets sidetracked easily. Does not want anyone to ace tests, which are really difficult. Picky about some answers. Seems intelligent, but is likely lying about many fascinating stories.
Mr. Popelka is one of the best teachers at Saint Ignatius. He'll tell it to you straight and not only tries to teach biology, but life lessons. If you learn how to approach his class and how to approach the tests, you will have success. Show improvement and be down to earth, and you'll earn his respect.
This class is easy if you pay attention, write down the notes, and know how to study for the tests. Also, Jo Po is easily the best teacher I've ever had. He is a great teacher, and does why ever it takes to win. He is down to earth and doesn't beat around the bush. He is also the funniest man I've ever met. Teaches you so much about the real world too. Great Guy. Best teacher at Ignatius
I love this man. He has been a role model for me since the second I walked into his classroom. He is EXTREMELY knowledgable. Seems as if he knows everything. For sure a difficult class, there's no doubt. But it made me a better student. Also, his lectures made me a better person in every way. Go Joe
Joey P is anything but the man
An absolutely horrendous teacher. He ruins kids' GPAs, runs outrageously unfair labs, and all the while makes fun of people if they fail in his class. His labs are the worst; if you do not have a bio major as your lab partner, you will not get anything above a B. Nothing but a rude, half-informed blowhard.
"Popelka is screwing us over"-Joseph popelka, ultimately in there dedicated teacher difficult but worth the work
One of the most rewarding classes at ignatius. Its hard, yeah, but he makes it fun. It seems he really cares for his students' lives and growth as men. Grading is very fair.-Fr. Jose Lenningham.
Difficult class? Absolutely. But he doesn't care how much you hate his tests - he is forming kids to become men. He teaches what it means to be a scholar, not just a biologist. Loads of Respect.
Tough class, but a great teacher. Once you figure out how to study for the class, you should be fine.
It's a tough class, but I respect the man immensely. I would have never worked this hard for anyone else, but the work he makes you do is the study of studying, not the study of biology. He's da man
Had him 8th period 03/04 great teacher, did in the class and it was certainly challenging, it majorly prepared me for all my upcoming classes, everything was a breeze after this. had a good time too
Instills in you an unparalelled work ethic. This is the most important thing Ignatius gave me, and Mr. Popelka helped. It's a hard class, but you won't regret it.
By far one of the hardest teachers to present. Though nice guy to get to know
big pops money is hilarious and down to earth, plus he is a phenomenal teacher and he will do everything he can to help you succeed, you will probably think he is a huge tool at the beginning of the year but that will change
Doesn't get as much respect as he deserves from students who haven't had him. Cares, big time. Lots of work, of course, but do it and the class is a snap.
He knows his stuff and will get it through to you no matter what.
ranks with frober and arko as one of the best teachers at the school; by the end of the year, you will really know biology
Don't be mistaken: he'll make you work but you'll learn a lot and have some fun with his made up stories
Master P is awesome. He is probably one of the best teachers i have ever had. His stories are great, but i doubt some of them are true, you can never tell.
Joe P is one of the most fun teachers ive had. Really knows his stuff, and helps you to learn it as best as he can. Thanks Mr. P
Truely the best teacher I have ever had. One of the few that actually cares for his students even though he cut me from the soccer team.
Very hard, but he has those hilarious (and totally unbelievable) stoires. Overall, a good teacher.
Joey's the man. Literally forces you to take pride in your work, and he is a great teacher. Very clear on what material is to be tested on, will learn ALOT.
Not easy at all, but after awhile once u get to know how he works it gets easier. Best teacher I ever had, always around for extra help whenever needed.
Great Guy. Hard class but very helpful teacher. Made class fun. Always available for extra help.
very hard teacher, but you really know a lot about biology when you are done
