She chooses to spend most of class checking to see if students did the hw - why is that even necessary, turning hw in would save time and make more sense. She can be a good teacher if you ask questions, but she doesn't actually help with lessons until you ask. Tests are either difficult, or extremely easy. Her class was not my favorite.
this is the one class where a minute feels like an hour. spent half the class just checking if we did the homework. not going over answers- just walking around checking if you DID it (she can't tell anyways). she doesn't give us the answers to homework? she asks us which problems we "didn't understand" and we go over them together but what if we thought we got it but did it totally wrong? tests are sometimes very hard sometimes very easy. if you ask for help outside of class she is very helpful.
She teaches straight out of the book, and the students have to end up learning the material completely on their own. She does not seem to understand what she is teaching, and is really unorganized as well. She seems like a nice person, but a horrible teacher.
she gets a lot of hate from students but she actually teaches well so i is unjustified. a teacher who deserves a rating so low is evans because she never teaches and makes hard tests.
One of the worst teachers you will ever get. She spends half of class checking homework, and the other half reviewing ONE homework problem. She does not give you notes, answers to homework, practice worksheets so good luck if you're in her class. (tests are 90% of your grade). She does not teach, review, she does nothing.
She doesn't teach anything at all. Here's what the average class looks like.
We come to class with our homework done. She spends ten minutes checking wether or not we did it. Meanwhile, we break into groups and compare our answers. She never gives us the answers to correct our homework. During class, we're supposed to discuss problems we didn't understand on the board, while she supervises. By the fourth week, you'll just be socializing during this time. She has no control over the class.
She needs to understand that grades are important, and despite her saying learning is more important than grades, she barely teaches at all. I had to spend so much time studying for the quiz and units like the Ferris Wheel were especially difficult when she never taught us.
She spent the first half of the year simply going over hw in class, and the second semester attempting to teach. She constantly makes simple, careless mistakes, which students must always point out to her. It is true that she wastes class times telling pointless stories about her life. It is very obvious that she does not know the material at all, and students often have to teach it to her. If you get her, be prepared to learn nothing at all.
Ms. Strauss can be an excellent teacher if you allow her to be. Class time can get frustrating simply because of her lack of class control, but if you take the time to meet with her outside of class (which she is ALWAYS available and willing to help), you can get so much more out of your experience with her, and it will be an easy A in trig honors! She was so friendly and understanding, and it upset me to see how much others complain about her.
This woman has no idea how to teach. Her pace is one third the regular person. She talks about swimming but seriously, I can shoot myself in the head and still swim farther and faster than her. We get through a good 2 problems, maybe 3 if she doesn't explain the solution clearly. If you haven't fell asleep in her class yet, then I solute you. If you haven't fell asleep in her class AND not have caffeine in your system, then I'm going to assume you have the skill to sleep with your eyes open.
Mrs. Strauss is the worst teacher i've ever had at laws by far. I've never gotten less than an a in math and i got a c in her class. My first c in high school. :(
Ms. Strauss gets a lot of hate-most of it is unjustified. Sure, we don't get as much done in class as we could, but she's making sure everyone understands the concepts. Ms. Strauss is genuinely one of the nicest people I have every met-truly cares about her students and is always available for help. When I failed a test because of personal issues, she decided to drop the test because she knew I understood the material.Take the time to get her because she's a fascinating and friendly person!
Her idea of teaching is sitting at a corner grading papers and having students teach other students how to do difficult problems. She can barely do the homework and most days when we go over the homework in class we have no time for the lesson, so we must teach ourselves. She is a teacher, not a babysitter.
Should provide complimentary caffeine pills to keep students awake. Talks at 0.5x the speed of a normal human and never finishes her lecture. Tests are always either elementary level easy or impossibly difficult. Updates SIS once a decade at best. 70% of class time is wasted.
One of my least favorite teachers Never finishes the lesson
Probably the worst teacher I've ever had. I had her for Geometry Honors and she did nothing. We never went over homework and you never do anything in class, literally. She does a poor job of explaining lessons when she does which was a rare occasion in my class. She is very easily distracted and we never got anything done. I learned pretty much nothing. If you get her try to switch!!!
despite the other scathing reviews of her, I think that she is a nice person. I had her for Geo honors and I got an easy A each semester. All I did was ask her questions, that is all. You have to bother to take the class seriously if you want to succeed. On the other hand, she isn't very inquisitive when looking at homework, so that if you don't know the material and you don't ask a question, you won't learn it.
I hate Ms Strauss. She always goes on about how much she cares about her students, but if she really cared she would quit her teaching job. She never teaches, and often the class average on a test is not even passing. She assigns an hour of hw a night, for a non honors class. She may seem sweet, but she has an awful temper, and she can be VERY mean when she's upset. My class started with 29 students and now we have 15. The people who switched out got lucky. I hate Ms. Strauss.
Honestly, the people who have less than an A never go out of their way to ask her questions. Her tests clearly cover what she says in class, which means those who are struggling just wont ask for help. If you don't get something: just ask. Don't scapegoat.
You can tell that she is a really nice person and is really sweet but she just cant figure out that nobody in her class is learning. She tells a lot of stories that have no point to them and is off to
Absolutely wonderful at making you forget all the math you ever learned.
Doesn't teach or even read the answers to the homework. The students have to figure out how to teach themselves and correct their own answers. Always runs out of time for the lesson, always off topic.
Want to be confused? Then ask her a question. Nice and understanding, just extremely naive. Doesn't realize that nobody's learning and everybody's cheating.
Friendly and mostly reasonable, but I didn't learn a single thing. (Trig H)
little to no actual teaching was involved, she mainly read out of the book.
Ok, i also agree that she'z a nice person, mostly. BUT how can she stand to teach a class that most people hate? Then again, it iz becuz of her that they hate it.
she's a nice person. yeah its sometimes hard to understand her but maybe we need to be more respectful and give her more credit
Ms Strauss is very nice, but she doesn't teach very well.
She does not know her subjects at all, which makes her lack of teaching skills even more unbearable. She gives partial credit based on favoritism.
She knows what she is doing, but unfortunately her class has NO idea what she is doing on the other hand.
She meant well but her way of teaching statistics was needlessly confusing and her way of grading tests even more so
Can't teach, doesn't know the material, students know it better than she does.
She refuses to show us our grades and her knowledge is unfortunately limited to only what the textbook has to offer. She also tends to go off topic.
When asked why she didn't give more effective lectures, her answer was this, "statistics show that 90% of students learn best after they've struggled." hm..
She doesn't give partial credit that people deserve, and her teaching is a bit unclear. She needs to teach to what she is testing on.
She means well, and is always willing to help...but it's a bit hard to learn from her. She's a nice person though.
I see her mouth moving, but what language is she speaking?!?
