One of the best math teachers I have ever had. And to the comment below this one, why WON'T you do extra credit to get an A?
She doesn't teach well and gives out tests without warning. She is nice and all, but it was very hard for my child to pass her class unless you did extra credit.
The best teacher I have ever had!!!! The people who don't pay attention are the people who don't like her. Try and you will succeed.
As an entering freshmen Julia Scola was the one of the only teachers I felt like I could relate to. She makes math interesting and fun, while also including extra credit opportunities to cushion your grade. 5/5 would recommend to anyong
She wastes a lot of time in class talking and honestly we don't learn much. She didn't prepare me for my next year class at all.
One class (90 mins long) we counted that we literally wasted the first 19 minutes doing nothing but talking, then she started passing out tests and that took another 20 mins to wrap up. Really nice but she just spends Monday classes talking about her family and telling stories n then she rushes to try to teach a lesson in the last 10 minutes of class. On top of that, everything about her her classroom screams elementary school.
Worst teacher I've ever had, not just with math. She can't teach at all and she plays favorites. Only those who are already good at math can pass her class because she can never explain things well. She's nice and her class can be fun, but that's extremely unimportant when you end up not learning anything at all. She should get fired or teach something else honestly.
nice person, awful teacher. she does not teach anything and spends more than an hour talking about random stuff. she also blames you when you do badly and says you should be trying harder when really the problem is that she doesnt teach us and then she gives us very hard tests. if you get her as a teacher, switch out immediately!!!
She spends most of the class talking about her kids and gossip, barely finishes a lesson on Mondays, and fails to prepare her students for harder courses. We were terribly behind all the other classes. Otherwise, she's a great person to hang out with.
I'm an alumni of SHS and I had Ms. Scola twice out of my 4 years. She is the absolute best math teacher I have ever had. Not only does she make math fun, but she makes it exciting to go to class. She is helpful and easy to approach if you need any assistance in math or just in life in general.
Awesome greatest teacher i ever had. Made math FUN for me. She gave me the tools needed to do well in that class. Great teacher
I had Mrs. Scola for two years. She was my favorite teacher by FAR. She is friendly, and easy to make a personal connection with. I was more than comfortable in the class and could ask questions at any time.
I can only assume the bad reviews are from typical SHS students - amazing academic integrity, but lack both creativity and social skills. Little do they know, you need all three of these traits if you truly want to succeed, and Mrs. Scola's class helped me improve every single one.
I had her for geometry, she's a very fun person to hang out with but she can't teach at all. Her classes are always really far behind other ones because nothing gets done in class. Overall a horrible teacher but a really nice one.
Poor teacher. Jokes about having ADD, which explains not staying on task. Cannot vary methods to the needs of the student and seems to play favorites. Does NOT prepare a student for future math cla
Very nice and funny teacher. But that's it. Horrible teacher, I had to re learn EVERYTHING with a separate tutor. Extremely unclear and not very helpful.
We may not learn as much as other classes, but I think what she lacks in learning she makes up for in how well she treats her students. I feel really comfortable and welcome in that class
Mrs. Scola is lacking a lot of qualities a good teacher needs. 1st of all, she doesn't teach. We barely make it through one lesson a day because she talks way too long about stupid things.
shes super nice and a fun teacher, yeah she talks about her kids a ton but it makes the class so much more entertaining
really nice teacher and very helpful. easy though. tests and quizzes arent really hard and games are fun and educating. decent grading system.
She's a really nice person. She's also good at teaching. I love her stories. In trigonometry we haven't been doing much book work. I had her for geometry too.She always goes out of her way to help ppl
I'm surprised to see all the positive reviews... I find her annoying and impertinent. And just plain weird, sometimes.
She's probably the most outgoing teacher on the campus. She'll help out during lunch and tutorial, and the tests become easier with studying and book work. ALOT OF BOOK WORK.
Ms. Scola's class is easy if u study.about 20-35 min a night hw. The final was relatively easy with about 2 hrs study. compared to others, this class is easy.
