I had him for AP Euro and US history. I passed both APs, but the only thing I learned in his class was how to BS my way through 2 years of fear, boredom, and freezing classroom temperatures. He teaches through intimidation - a highly unnecessary method. I will never forget how he made me cry in class twice, simply because I answered a question incorrectly.
The only advice I could give to his future students: once you're through with him, any teacher is a breeze. Show More Show Less
01/16/12 - Mr. Toy was, without a doubt, one of the best teachers in the magnet when I attended NHHS, and if he is still there, I can only assume that this is still the case. I am unsurprised by the relatively low rating he has received; his classes wer certainly the most difficult I took, his strict nature is undeniable. Understandably, his popularity suffers for this. However, he without a doubt taught me more than any other teacher, and both of my 5s in history APs back this up. Show More Show Less
01/09/12 - mr. toy is a nice guy outside the classroom but inside its all business, i feel he is a great teacher but his grading is so difficult that your ap socre reflects a grade HIGHER then what you really got, but never give stupid answers in his class Show More Show Less
12/17/11 - I'm sorry, but Mr. Toy is a very bad teacher. Not to say that he isn't very knowledgeable on the subject, but he is very intimidating and rude to students, his tests and grading policies are ridiculous, and any opinion that doesn't agree with his is wrong. His class is almost impossible, and will bring down your GPA, although you will get a good score on the AP. I am very good at history, and received a D in this class. Many people did worse.
