Simultaneously able to treat my curriculum A class like fifth graders and honors students. One second she's assigning difficult homework that takes an hour every single night and the next she's reading Shakespeare out loud while changing all the old english (thee to you, art to are, etc) as if my class of ninth and tenth graders doesnt know what thou means! Ms, Driscoll is actually very nice though and is trying hard she's just not a great teacher & condescending. she also grades pretty hard so.
Grades extremely tough. Haven't gotten above a B- on a homework assignment yet spend over 2 hours a night trying to complete just my English homework.
Class- junior honors english. Experience- pretty good, but only because i had great kids in my class. the is what you make it---very difficult quizzes and hard grading, so don't take the class if you want a great grade. she also grades every piece of homework (it's not just a "full credit for handing it in". If you don't have many other options and you like discussions, take the class. otherwise maybe look elsewhere.
Tests are extremely difficult and she grades homework really intensely which brings your grades down. This class seems like an honors class even though it isn't. Also she hasn't passed back a single assignment so I have no idea what mistakes I made. Impossible to get an A in this class. Ms. Driscoll is a good teacher though.
In class you spend most of the time conversing about the book you're reading or the daily journal. In-class is enjoyable but her grading system is absolutely idiotic. You could do every homework assignment and still average a C in homework. Not to mention, this is IF you put effort into the assignment. Overall, she expects her students to be as skilled as her. (not even, she just doesn't like giving good grades.)
If you could stop giving us C's for completing assignments that would be great.
Ms. Driscoll is extremely dedicated. Most assignments have no clear purpose, and almost all class time is spent reading the text aloud. I learned very little about how to analyze text. Let's say that you learn lots, but lots of stuff you don't need.
that class was the biggest waste of time ever. with all the magazine clippings we did it should have been called art class. every other thing we did felt like it was an insult to our intelligence
fabulous teacher, maybe the best i ever had, incredibly good at english. grading is hard, but if you fully commit and go to her for help on all the writing assingments, you can get an a
Very creative, and puts a lot of effort into her assignments, but is an impossibly difficult grader. Impossible to get an A in this class
easily the greatest english teacher i've ever had. ms. driscoll has taught me more about myself as a writer and as a person than i ever would have thought possible. tough grader, but so worth it!
wow. tough class, learning alot though. honors level is intense! good reading selections, a ton of homework, and extremely hard vocab tests.
Her in class was sweet, i have fond memories, her grading system and homework level were not ideal though.
very insightful discussions, a challenging teacher who actually cares
One of the only teachers that actually shows she cares.
