I had her as a teacher in the early 1980's - she was great then!
Sportello was probably the only good teacher I had at Homestead. She is fair, respectful, and doesn't discriminate or choose favorites.
I had troubles with the essays. Never seemed to grasp what she was looking for. Can't say I didn't try. She was a diligent teacher who tried hard to make the class interesting.
This class is very easy, but enjoyable. It's my second time reading Caesar, and I was worried that I would, once again, not learn anything, but I am. Very insightful; hilarious; likes you if you try.
I hated her class. It's good if you like classes where you don't have to think and simply like to spit back what she tells you. Once I stopped trying to put thought into my work, my grade went up...
it depends on her moood, sometimes she's really really nice, but sometimes she's mean but she's kool, but the class is boring, u sit on the same seat the entire year.
(AmLitH) She's OCD, everything is a formula, she's been doing this for years and doesn't want to change (yes, even her jokes). Essays are only good if they follow her formula. A horrible experience.
the way we go through the textbook gives an extensive survey of American literature & authors that can help you for later classes. I loved novel simp. GREAT CLASS
I find Ms Sportello's grading to be acute, detailed and extremely helpful. My student has many other honors classes, the workload for AmLit honors is appropriate
THE most boring class ive ever taken in my life, WAY too much homework, and she has FAVORITES. shes hoorrrible
She attempts to teach writing by students have her copy her own style exactly. In retrospect, I was so intimidated by her work load that I didn't realize how little I learned.
Great teacher!!! really nice and very willing to help students...
Doesn't teach much, but probably cause she expects you to already know it. Quite oddly, the more you insult her, the more she likes you.
She was a great teacher but can we say O.C (obsessive compulsive)
She is great and, gasp, actually teaches! What a concept! She isn't out there to be liked, she wants you to learn. If u like Narf, C or Scilingo, skip her cls
She's very organized, keeps our attention by telling funny stories, and is really considerate to the demand of our other classes- A+ for Sportello!
funny and educating class but sometimes very dull and/or boring. But not that much homework because she gives time to do it in class so yay for that!
Runs a tight ship, very organized teacher. Everything is clearly explained. She knows what she's doing. I wish there was more in class discussion though
A very good teacher, knows her stuff and really infuses all the knowledge into the class. Not always too friendly to non-class students.
A good teacher who knows her subject matter really well.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. She tells you exactly what she wants done and how to do it. Makes lit enjoyable.
her class was the easiest class i had last year, but she hated me. this year it's one of the hardest classes i have, but she's so nice to me!!! she's really smart and i love the discussions in her class.
Sometimes mean, but good teacher and knows what she's doing. She should be teaching English AP, not Jessen.
didn't do well in her class, but i've learned a lot from her. great teacher.
Really funny and gives you a break when you deserve it
Great teacher, if you don't like her, then you probably don't know a good teach
Mostly uneducational busy work, the grammer stuff was literary treasure hunts
