It doesnt matter how hard you work or the quality of work you turn in, she bases grades off of who she like or who she thinks "deserves" points (based off who kisses up to her). I highly doubt she even reads assignments/essays and just grades them off how she percieves you as a student. Completely stuck in her own opinion, anything that doesnt fit her pre prepared answer she will think is wrong and will not discuss it further. Worst teacher i have ever had, & completely unfair grading
Ms. Boness was my teacher several years ago. She always expected more from her students and was able to be humorous with us. Her ability totake command of a classroom full of young minds was incredible. She was always tough but fair and in control. I believe my striving for success came from the interaction I had with her as her student.
She is the worst teacher you could have for English
Her grading is completely random! One time way back when I was in her class, We were doing group presentations on this poem, and she forgot my group even existed. So we didn't get to do the presentation, and then she just randomly gave us an 85.
She assigns different classes different assignments and then forgets which ones she assigned to which. f you go to tutorial, she'll probably give you the correct homework assignment. Probably. Just hold her to what she said when you asked her for homework. She is a motherly figure sometimes. She's pretty funny but she's biased...yikes. She said I used the word "the" too many times and to avoid using it as much as I did in her feedback to one of my essays. Make sure you pay attention in class!
Does not teach in a very clear manner at all. She doesn't actually know what she's talking about half the time and her ego prevents her from admitting her mistakes. Asking for her help one on one is useless because she'll say nothing useful. Grades on formatting and favorites, not on content. She has a nice intention though, I believe that she legitimately cares about us.
Mrs. Boness isn't exactly the best teacher I've ever had. I'm fine with teachers that are unclear every once in a while or forget what they're doing, but Mrs. Boness is just plain unfair and bad. She changes requirements of projects and essays after she's given you the rubric, but she doesn't even read the essays anyways (I've written about cookies and ice cream in the middle of a paragraph and she didn't notice one bit.) If she doesn't like you, you get a C or worse. It's that simple.
Well...at least her heart is in the right place. However, her teaching ability is not quite up to par, and if you have her I recommend switching out.
I wish she would assign less sporadic homework and tests and realize that there are 6 other classes assigning homework as well.
For all 8th grade prism students who are entering gifted next year: Mrs. boness (so far) is not as bad as you heard. Before i got into high school, i heard all bad stories about mrs. boness, but not all of them are true. She does care about all her students and she does a good job of explaining stuff in class; however, she does choose favorites and her grading system is really messed up. So basically, you do learn and appreciate her in class, but hard work will not gurantee you an A.
Nice teacher... she got criticized lots, too much, I'd think. Nice to us, tried to help us, hard to keep grades up, but she was a good person. Not as bad as they say, she was a good teacher.
Doesn't help at all, seems like she grades from a random number generator. She is also very hypocritical, and needs to learn more about what she teaches.
She's only not popular because she works us to the bone, sometimes unnecessarily I think but generally she's fair. But it's really not fair to judge a teacher just because you're lazy. She makes you work hard, but you learn. And you're prepared for your IB/AP tests. If you ever need help, just come in during tutorial. She's nicer outside of class. :p Annoying voice though.
I don't think any of the categories really do her any good, but she actually is a good teacher. I didn't great her well because she is not easy nor helpful really. She's more or less clear, but unpopular among other students. I do agree that she does pick favorites and is not always fair, but she is a good teacher. She actually cares about us and actually truly wants to help us. She's committed to her job, but she doesn't seem to understand that people don't like poems though...
I only had Mrs. Boness for a half year, but she really wasn't bad. She wasn't excellent, but she tries and the assignments and essays she gives are reasonable enough. However, she does say some things that may be, as said earlier, misconstrued by some students. A lot of people didn't like her, but I really think they were too judgemental. She's an okay teacher.
She is such a good teacher! She does her best to prepare us for college, and she cares a lot about her students.
Well her questions are really vague yet she expects you to know what she's talking about; when you don't, you get marked down. She is impatient and therefore questions are often disregarded. The resulting lack of understanding makes success in her class difficult.
A truly despicable teacher. Doesn't do any of her own teaching, has no idea what she's talking about. Students feel really uncomfortable in her class, and she makes english more work than the rest of the full IB diploma combined!!
She was really strict, and admittingly did pick favorites, but she was a REALLY good teacher and I learned so much from her. She really wasn't that bad you guys.
she was kinda strict and could be unfair or mean, but i learned a ton. she's actually a really good teacher for helping you improve your writing.
i actually learned a lot from her, but she picks favorites, grades unfairly, and is hypocritical. very unclear on assignments.
She's the most helpful and engaging English teacher I've ever had. She's not hard, she's challenging, maybe some of you are too used to getting your way...
i learned how to write a thesis. PECHORIN IS NOT CROSSEYED. she should grade on the quality of work.
grades on perception of student and not on actual quality of work
Yea, kind of arrogant, not really helpful, kind of unfair, but her high standards do makes us step up to the plate.
