I have Mr. Younglund for Digital photo this year. He's not as bad as some of the other reviews say. He does expect a lot from his students and he will grade you harshly, if your photo sucks then that's what he'll tell you. He doesn't really explain that much but if you ask him he'll help you.

A lot of people get very butt-hurt in his class, when he is just trying to to help you out. If you ask his opinion, he will be brutally honest. It's an art class, so you get what you give. Pay attention to the technical aspects of the class, and the rest is up to your artistic ability.

Mr. Younglund is an amazing teacher. I took his photography class with him at MHS. He is very reasonable and treats everyone with respect. He is the best photography teacher Ive had. I have learned more from him than the photography teachers from my university. I only wish I could learn more from him than the professors at my school.

Everyone expects photo to be so easy and a joke but he wants you to learn how to take good photos by the end and expects you to use the class time.

People really misjudge Younglund. His problem is that he is brutally honest and not everybody can handle it. Unlike other art teachers he will tell you that your bad ideas are bad but you will thank him in the long run. He is annoying about 70% of the time but when he stops talking about himself he can almost be cool. He knows his stuff and if you ask him for help instead of taking the B or the C your photos will improve tenfold. Plus he allows re-grades which mean you can ALWAYS get an A
