Keri Poncé is the worst teacher i haver ever had at Westlake , she doesnt teach and expects her students to watch youtube vidoes while she sits at her front desk going on facebook and sipping coffe and then makes the tests incredibly difficult, she has made me absolutely hate chemistry despite my passion for science , as to why she is teaching AP Chemistry im not sure but someone like Cord or Koenig who actually teaches should be teaching AP chemistry not ponce
The thing with this class is youll either love it or hate it. Most students dont watch the video notes and then complain that they dont know anything and say she doesnt teach!! Sometimes she can be vague or she will make you figure it out for yourself or with help of friends, but overall I like the class and as long as you pay attention itll be decently easy. Ponce as a person is great though
Ms. Ponce is a very nice person and I've enjoyed being in her class but the biggest struggle I've had is that she is not always helpful. Many times in class if you ask a question she encourages you to figure it out yourself. Also, It's really hard to find time some nights to watch videos that are usually over 40 minutes long. Overall I think she cares about her students but most people struggle with her teaching methods.
She doesn't give us enough time on tests and passes them out super late. She also teaches through videos instead of in class which I don't find very effective. Would not recommend her
Keri Poncé is the worst teacher I have ever encountered. She does not teach her class, but instead tells her students to figure it out on their own. Instead of teaching the lessons she makes us watch videos at home that are sometimes over an hour long. She will always prioritize her chearleaders over her chemistry classes. The only thing getting me through her class is the help I get from Cord's students. It makes me mad that Keri gets paid to not teach. Keri should be fired ASAP!!!!!!!!
Absolutely love how she teaches and I understood every concept. Coming into chem I was scared I was going to fail it but ended up getting high A's both semesters. Definitely found my passion in this class.
keri is nice enough she just need more experience as a teacher to be able to teach it in an understandable way for students.
Ms. Ponce knows her material, but she cannot get her lessons and ideas in an efficient and effective way. She runs out of time and our homework is based on that lesson, which we never reach the main point of. The following day she expects us to have it all completed but when we tell her we don't understand it she says that we are honors students and we have resources. Although looking something up online is not as effective as having someone physically there to teach and answer questions.
People seem to dislike Miss Ponce's teaching method, but I think it is unfair. AP Chem is definitely a difficult class to teach, and I think she is doing a stand up job. I think she used last year as a test run and now I believe she knows how and what to teach us. I still find the exams very difficult, but what can you expect from an AP class. She is a great teacher
Does not know enough chemistry, nor how to teach it. Having her teach AP Chem basically killed half the class's scores, due to the fact that she herself knows barely any more chemistry than the students. 0/10 would not recommend taking her class, at least for AP.
Ms. Ponce knows her stuff, but lacks the ability to teach her students in an understandable way. She definitely cares about her students and is an amazing person. However, I took CP and because I had a tough time grasping concepts from her teaching at that level, there is know way that I would ever want to attempt AP with her as my teacher. She is super chill to talk to though and is a great person to get to know.
I had her for Chemistry CP in sophomore year and she makes it utterly impossible to get less than a 95 in the class. With that being said, the class may be too easy and im not very sure of her teaching skills because everything was extremely easy to pick up on. Great person though, definitely cares about the students.
Granted, she was a newer teacher. However, for the teacher of an AP class, she lacks the skills to teach basic concepts in an understandable way to students. Homework is not overwhelming, but she often neglects to post needed material for assignments until 8 or 9 the night before it's due. She also refuses to curve tests, resulting in absurdly large amounts of students receiving D's or F's, even on the final exam. One of the least skilled teachers I've encountered in twelve years of education.
The beginning of the year was a little rough, but she's really stepped her game up...now we just have to step our game up and actually try
