If this was asking about fishing, all my ratings are true.
Currently have iwanaga and hes great.
Although there is a lot of homework, he is actually pretty funny... if he doesn't make fun of you. He is actually very knowledgeable but I think his 1-3 pages of outlines are a bit useless. I feel that he actually wants to take the time to get to know his students, which is great and when he is being strict,he is preparing us for the future
He teaches the material clearly. As long as you pay attention in class and do the work he assigned. You will get a decent grade without trying very hard. I had him for Biology honors. He is funny and likes to tell jokes. He is actually pretty nice actually. But when you do dissection it's pretty gross for me. Careful when you do the dissection for earthworm, he will put part of the earthworm dangling in th tray or put part of it on your hand, but you are probably wearing gloves.
Mr. Iwanaga is arguably a decent teacher. While he does have his favorites and at times insults his students, he treats you with the same respect that you treat him. He gives you the basic knowledge needed for the tests, but you NEED TO prepare outside of class as well. I have found that watching YouTube videos have helped. His homework, however, is redundant and excessive. I'd suggest to complete them early to save time over the week.
Iwi's class is tough. He's tough. That's not debatable. But tbh, he's not that bad. I mean, yes, he just reads off of pre-made powerpoint slides and he can be pretty mean sometimes (or a lot). But he's actually a pretty nice person inside. He gives his former students candy, and he will ask how you are and stuff. With him it's treat others how you wanna be treated. You're gonna hate him while you're in his class, but in retrospect, you'll realize he wasn't that bad.
(i had him for honors & ib)
Mr. Iwanaga is pretty strict and unreasonable, and his tests are pretty freaking hard. He throws around insults and kind of gives off a vibe of " I hate being a teacher, I don't care about students bc I get paid anyway ".
IWANAGA IS A WHINY TEACHER WHO DOESN'T EVEN TEACH THAT WELL...
if you want a good grade u have to self study,
don't do the bare minimum or else he's gonna go cray and be all psychopath and be all whiny...
He's rlly short too and he doesn't understand students...
either way,..... hes weird overall..
Even though I don't like him that much, I do not believe he is all bad. Not everything he says makes sense, but he does has a good amount of knowledge for biology. He tends to be very whiny and sounds like he sucks helium everyday. He also chooses favorit especially ladies. Despite all this, the migit seems to be better than Holmes or Cabase. I know I wasn't his favorite but he is actually not that bad compared to other Bio teachers. Before you transfer, try thinking again
I don't understand how he was even able to become a teacher.
Honestly I think Mr. Iwanaga is a really nice man. Whenever he says something a little offensive, he never actually meant what he said; he was only joking. His teaching style is not something students in the US are really used to. His lessons are usually pretty boring (in my opinion...) but I guess his tests are okay. A few are harder than others.
He's a really bad teacher.
Assigns homework that he didn't even teach in class, his way of "teaching" is reading off of powerpoint slides that weren't even made by him.
Lots of people hate him but I don't. I had him for honors and now AP. I think he is really knowledgeable and wants to help the students but doesn't show it in the same way as other teachers. It's true that he picks on people, he picked on me for sleeping/not doing homework, but he picks on a lot of other people too. Just let it roll off your back.
I probably complain too much about Mr. Iwanaga for my own good. He's not a terrible teacher but he does just go over the powerpoints which are based exactly on the outlines we have to do for homework. Overall, he's pretty knowledgeable if you ask him questions directly. Tbh, I lost in his class most of the time until right before his tests. His class is pretty fun, I'd much rather have Iwanaga rather than Sorensen, Holmes, or Cabase. At least I do learn somewhat..
I personally had a great interest in biology, so this was an average class (not too difficult/easy). He teaches directly off of powerpoint slides that you print out and fill in. The test questions are based off of the powerpoint.
Mr. Iwanaga is a decent teacher that genuinely wants his students to learn. However, is quite mean and offensive at times and his vocab definitions can become quite tedious. He seems like he's a good person but he doesn't always act like one.
Many of my friends would hear me ranting about Iwanaga and his teaching skills, however, I do believe that he is a good teacher, and if you pay attention, you will get an A in the class, although it seems hard. The man knows a lot about the subject.
He's by far the worst teacher I've ever had. He assigns you lots of homework, and doesn't even teach. He just goes over what we worked on ourselves through this boring PowerPoint that doesn't even help us. He never reviews the book with us or does anything at all to help is. His tests are hard, since he never really teaches anything. If you get him...switch out, IMMEDIATELY. worst teacher ever.
Mr. Iwanaga is super funny at times and likes to joke around a lot! But he will have his moods. He usually calls on girls for questions all the time and his lessons are super boring...must study
iwi is the most caring teacher ive had in my life. he puts on a front by giving jokes and being mean, but when it comes down to grades and cheating contracts, he's always there to help you. bc he cares about your future and doesnt wanna ruin your life. he's very strict bc he wants to prepare you for college. you have to study a lot for his class, much like uc bio courses. maybe dont take his class but get to know him! his principles/values are really respectable!
Self study is key to getting a DECENT grade in his class. He knows the material well. But the only way for him to get the material for you is through his PowerPoints, which, quite frankly, are mostly long and boring.
He's a bit of a d-bag at times but he is usually nice. His teaching is very unremarkable although I do get the feeling he really knows the material. Class is not hard and is pretty chill otherwise
i don't blame iwanaga. he's a knowledgeable teacher. but more and more, i think he might have aspergers syndrome! and yes, five years after graduation, i'm still a bit traumatized by some of his comme
he's not a very good teacher.. you basically do about 2 pages of notes for homework, and he just repeats everything you did for homework. you have to self study. he's nicer to girls.. but he's kinda c
Mr. Iwanaga is possibly one of the worst teachers you can have, he gives you a ton of useless homework i.e. taking notes on the book, and he makes you listen to boring powerpoints that is somewhat inf
Click, click, click. That's all he does in class. He just goes through the powerpoints and except you to understand everything. He's probably only nice to me cuase I'm a girl.
I thought Iwanaga was really nice. He's nice if he like you so don't be obnoxious! His tests are do-able if you study hard. It was one of my funnest classes. Don't procrastinate!
He is funny but suxx at teaching. You just have to read the book and know the facts.
he's pretty fun and chill if you have him for summer school :) be his favorite.... curves your grade alot (to me) during summer school cause i had a B and he curved it to a B !
we have these kind of teachers in every schools.. just gotta use common sense in his class
What is the point of copying outlines from the book, and then taking notes from his ppt which are basically outlines from the book?! It's not a hard class, but he doesn't teach, so if you have him....
BORING lectures....but doesnt everything routinely and homework is easy but boring....also makes lots of jokes that are either funny or rude....
The first week of school he was behind me giving a lecture, then he snorted and i could feel all the air blasting up his nostrils. i was miserable
fun class, tons of pointless outlines and homework but its real easy to get a good grade
iwanaga is the easiest class ever! fun and easy! preps you for ap bio in bio honors :P. great teacher
iwi's class is always fun, but hard. but in a good way because you do learn good study skills. he's fun to joke around with.
he teaches in a monotone voice. should probably study through the book, since mostly everyone falls asleep during his lectures anyway.
well iwi doesnt have the most exciting lectures in the world but NEVER fall asleep in that class, he is known to sprinkle fish food on you -______- he did it my class plenty of times
I got along with him all right durning summer school, but GAWD his class is hard to pass. He doesn't teach. Sorry, Iwi, but you aren't such a great teacher, stick to wrestling.
iwi is so fun!(: bio was the funniest class i had in freshmen year(:
he is alweays blocking the board, if he can be a couple inches shorter, it would be perfect.
i slept in his class in the front and he only made fun of me once. got an A and a 5 on AP test. Getting As in bio now in university
Iwi is cool at times.. but other times hes really ARGH! impatient... picks on kids... he's really nice to me but he doesn't teach very well.. =/
NO NO NO, DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT TAKING MR IWANAGA AND PASSING. HE RELIES ON RIDICULING STUDENTS TO USE UP CLASS TIME, AN HOUR & A HALF OF MY LIFE GONE EVERY
this class was fUNN~ even though there was alot of work..i think it was all worth it..cause i learned alot from his class..and his REVIEWS are really helpful x]
what is w/ the constant snorting & him always saying um ?!
