As a past student of Mr. K's I can say that his class completely prepared me for some of the most difficult AP history classes including Euro as a sophomore, APUSH, & Interrelated Arts, where self-teaching, essays, & intense reading are EVERYTHING. HS isn't just about the grades, it's about preparation, and as difficult as the class seemed for me in the midst of it, looking back I can see how beyond valuable it was for my HS/College career. It may be tough love but I'm thankful to have had him.
Overall, Mr. Kaplan is a very nice teacher. During the year the work load was a lot, and his quizzes/tests were difficult, but he prepared me for AP. Through his class I learned how to manage my time wisely, how to quickly read a textbook, and how to effectively study. His class definitely worth it!
He's a nice guy who is respectable but he doesn't deserve to be teaching freshmen. He gives you chapters to read on your own, expects you to lean from the text book clearly and doesn't teach the chapter information until after you take the quiz. He wants you to take guiding questions for your notes, which are fine but it doesn't work for everyone. If you are selected into the honors global studies class for Mr. Kaplan freshman year, I'm advising you to drop, before it's too late... DUN DUN DUN!
Great teacher, I had during 8th grade. Very friendly, and relatable. But not only is he nice but he's the koolest.
Mr. Kaplan is a good teacher and person. Many may not agree with him because of the homework amounts, but what do they expect, he is supposed to make us ready for AP classes at the end of the year.
He doesn't teach you, you teach yourself, you are assigned a whole chapter of reading for a week and then take a quiz on it,takes points off EVERYTHING on quizzes. Talks a lot about beekeeping and personal topics. Reviews topics after everyone has already failed the quiz.
Kevin Kaplan's honors world history class was the most frustrating experience. He expected the students to read and teach themselves the material, and then, instead of discussing the material in class, would pontificate on unrelated topics such as bee keeping and fasting. He actually advised his students to fast to improve their heath and mental clarity. What kind of irresponsible adult advises growing adolescents to fast? Reckless! Improper! He was also extremely passive aggressive.
Honors Global with Kaplan was honestly the hardest class I've ever taken. He makes you read the textbook and then gives you a test on it hoping that you learned everything by yourself. He does not know how to teach and picks favorites. If you are not one of his favorites, he will give you B's on everything for no reason.
He's a confusing teacher who's lectures ramble off into personal stories. His quizes and exams are the most bogus thing on the planet
Kevin is a great guy guy, that truly cares for the well being of his students. Even though he will get sidetracked and go on a 15 minute story telling sprees, however most are funny. K-Dawg is the best!
good person and cares about his students, but from day one did not command authority over students
all we do in class is read from textbooks and take notes
no structure in teaching methods and he seems awkward with people
is stubborn and thinks he is really clever when in reality is not
He was just... the worst
Mr. Kaplan I at first didn't like. He seemed like he didn't know what he was doing while teaching. Over the course of the year, I found that he may be one of the smartest people I know. The class wasn't particularly hard if you confronted Mr. Kaplan about it, and did some of the assignment he gave us. Mr. Kaplan goes down as one of my favourite people of all time, but as an average teacher seeing as though he's fairly new. I believe he will get better because he cares. Good Job. Keep it up.
Mr. Kaplan is the worst teacher out there. He does not teach you at all
i liked his class a lot when i was a freshman.plus, this year he allowed me to come back and speak to some of his classes about a club. he's definitely a teacher wholl help you out in the future.
