Never had him in public school. I did, however, take vocal lessons from him while I was in high school and he got the job done. High expectations, but he knew I was working hard and was incredibly supportive and encouraging. We covered a lot of a material and fundamentals, and as long as I was putting in the effort, he was very respectful and constructive in his criticism. Had a huge impact on my growth as a symphonic musician.
You should never listen to, abide by the rules of, or be bossed around by someone you fear. If he wants respect he can earn it and treat his choirs like people. Almost destroyed my love for choir.
The only reason that he is so picky about the musical is because he wants the musical to better than normal. He only picks those with potential and that IS the way it should be.
jacoby ha! very very picky, but it pays out in the end. i thought he was mean at first, but then hes a great teacher when he knows you. I just wish i knew what his surgury was??
Everyone needs to lay off Jacoby. Certain members of choirs past hated him for no good reason. From there, it just kind of filtered down until my class. We get along great with him! He's a really great guy!
I was talking to a girl who made the musical and she said, "I know I just made it because he likes me". That's such a shame! Plus it bothers me that he will come into an chior class he's not teaching and try to take over.
As a voice teacher, can't express himself. Doesn't seem to care about how well you do. Is very political in choosing kids for the musical and select choirs. I've heard he has trouble managing choir and HVMA finances.
Jacoby was an alright teacher if you were on his good side. Although I was in Acappella and Hi-Notes he never really treated you with respect unless you were in his precious Hi-Lo's group.
Jacoby is one of the best teachers I've had. If you really try and follow the rules, his class could be the best thing that ever happened to you.
He is a really good teacher and can bring out the potential in peoples voices. The one thing I don't like about him is that he procrastinates everything.
I love to sing but he makes it sooooooooooooo not fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Needs better people skills. Kids often feel they cant live up to his expectations.
Jacoby is the only teacher I can say that I truly HATED. I have never been treated with so much disrespect and rudeness. If it's possible, try to avoid him.
He knows how to sing has no clue how to help other people sing. Interprets singing from an abstract perspective.
He has a lot of personal issues, but he is talented!
Last years May Fiesta was the best and funnest I had with him. He is very direct and you'll know when it's time to get serious.
Helps himself more than others and not I'M NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT IN AN HVMA WAY.
he blames everything on other people. and is always late coming in private singing lessons. buthis humor's cool sometimes. he's a really good teacher though.
JACOBY rocks my socks! GREAT director and mentor, demands much and is passionate about his music and kids! Wonderful!
hes ok, he just goes by seniority wayyyyy too much and doesnt let newcommers try out their voice.
GREAT DIRECTOR AND GETS IT OUT OF ALL OF US. HE DEMANDS A LOT, JUST TO MAKE US THE BEST WE CAN BE!!
He can be really cool sometimes. He's a pretty decent director too. But other times, he can get on my nerves because I think he's a little bit unorganized.
big stains!! haha if you have him you know what i am talking about. but he is cool
Hes a decent director. if he reduced the times he said the phrase learning curve he'd be better.
