Pros - Ms. O'Connor's best quality were her excellent comments given on essays. Allowed us to read To Kill a Mockingbird (a great book). Probably the best English teacher I've had in grades 6 through 9. Easy to do well in her class
Cons - VERY passive aggressive with students. Goes on too many tangents about her daughter, brain tumor, etc. Gives little teaching about grammar. Her 9th grade writing class hardly improved my writing. Jekyll and the Hyde was awful to read
Rating - 7/10
Knows her subject area, but not a very nice lady...Didn't make literature particularly enjoyable.
She ruined a lot of literature for me. Her class isn't very interesting because to pass you have to spit back exactly what she said in class. Her idea of "deep thinking" means rewording her ideas or structuring an essay according to her own thesis. She also is one of the least efficient teachers I've ever had (despite having 50% more teaching time than most teachers) because she spends all her times complaining about her personal problems, retired older hubby, and 5-year-old child.
I loved Mrs. O'Connor! She has such good analytical ideas and articulates them well. I genuinely enjoyed her class and learned a lot. It was so easy to talk to her; She is down to earth, and seems like a really fun person. English is now my favorite subject and I feel confident as a writer. Her advice has helped me so much. My favorite teacher so far, and I cant imagine having a better one. 5/5 stars.
Best teacher I have had in High School. Articulate, passionate, fair and helpful. More like a college professor, but also very warm and supportive. Why can't all teachers be this smart and motivated?
Screwed up scantron and obviously incorrectly marked the scantron even though all the answers were right they had been shifted by one row. Got a C- were i shouldve had a B and she didnt even give me points back. VERY STRICT AND UNFORGIVING.
I have not learned anything this whole year. If I get a 4 or 5 on the AP, it won't be from her teaching :(
she's my favorite teacher in all of the high school. amazing class, amazing teacher. all i can say is amazing.
has all the qualities of a great teacher: nice, funny, clear, fair, smart, helpful.... BEST TEACHER EVER!!!!
She's really nice and engaging. She keeps your interest, and actually teaches you how to read between the lines, which most teachers either assume you already know or don't bother to teach.
she is really nice and understanding. she grades a bit too hard but she is really clear and is happy to schedule an appointment with anyone to discuss a paper before or after they hadn it in. her class is also fun
her class was always the one i looked forward to the most. what a great teacher.
I really like Ms. OConnor. She makes class interesting with her jokes and stuff. She's a hard grader, but fair. Also, she finds time for extra help if you make an appointment.
She was the best English teacher I've had. Really fun class. You learn a lot and it the discussions are really interesting and funny. She's a hard grader but fair.
she's a great teacher. she's smart and makes the material very clear, but her grading style is....hard. geez. it's a difficult class, but she's funny and makes class interesting, so that puts her atop some other teachers.
Ms. O'Connor is a genuinely good teacher and I really enjoyed her class. But she is a really harsh grader.
i like how she goes off topic sometimes, and makes jokes to prove a point. she's funny, yet teaches us a lot. her class is a lot of fun.
She's nice. get to know her and you'll really enjoy her classes. Our class called her OC the whole time and she was fine. We even had an english dinner with her
her research papers are the best. I don't know where she gets her ideas, but she's so innovative.
she's an awesome teacher who genuinely cares about her students and how they improve in class. be aware that her expectations increase throughout the year.
shes nice, but she thinks that shes sooooo wonderful cuz once in a while she changes sumthin if we have a lot of other work. other than that, shes fine.
