My class was his first class to have nearly everybody fail his midterm; only one person got a 92 in all three of his classes. If you have him, you will be annoyed by his public person beliefs, but beyond that his teachings will help you with the Regents. He is very much like a High School College professor; he lectures the class. If you don't write down every analogy he uses or his explanation of his notes, you will do poorly. Also, Crash Course videos are your friend.
He is very knowledgable about history and obviously loves it, but there is something about his voice that makes me want to doze off. He doesn't know how to teach students well, and you must be able to devote an immense amount of time to studying from not well organized notes to do well. He does give a large amount of extra credit, but only if you are willing to stay after for three whole activity periods.
The man knows history, but in no way can convey his knowledge to the students. If I did not have prior knowledge of the course I would have really struggled. He would be ok secluded in a research facility, but has no business in a classroom
He is a very condescending man who loves to spend all class telling stories that are irrelevant to what we are supposed to be learning. He doesn't like it when people question him because he hates looking like a fool ( he does that well by himself anyways) he teaches off Wikipedia and rants the rest of class. I had to teach myself all the topics and even Tutor friends who had him as well. He is also a bit seksist. He has been one of my least favorite teachers.
Something is not quite right with him, hope he is seeing professional help for his issues.
Hes very boring and his teaching method stink
I feel he is a very knowledgeable teacher but his teaching method is terrible. You barely learn anything in class and his Homework assignments are awkward especially when you're looking up the info he was supposed to teach you in class. Bad Teacher, poor at managing time and gives you homework over break FOR his poor time management. He spends half the class talking about his glory days in the Navy.
Awsome! No homework during Thanksgiving. Works us hard during the week but respects our time off during holidays off.
He is always there for help when I show up for help and he always gets the unit done before a test. He even reviews with you for a test if you stop to see him. OK, so he tells stories but some are c
He is a really great guy that you can tell is pure of heart. Just look up his involvement in local politics to see that he cares about those in the community around him, of which he is a part.
Have him now for US. Tends to lecture, though he is very informative. Do the homework, take notes, and sort of pay attention in class
Mr. Semon was a great teacher! His classes were easy and if you did the homework you'd pass easily. He's also just a nice guy..I really enjoyed having him as a teacher!
One of the best teachers I ever had. He's amazing and teaches well
Had him my Jr. and Sr. year. Not the most popular teacher, but hey he knows his stuff and if u pay attention, u'll do fine.
I had him when i was a junior and he seemed to think that going on about one subject for 82 mins was helpful, but all it really did was put the whole class to sleep...
I know he loves what he does, but his student teacher is more interesting.
How can he really think that lecturing for 82 min. while we fall asleep is real teaching??? Seriously!!
hes ok. talks alot about stuff noone cares about. and makes jokes no one gets cause theyre too old. but other than than he teaches well
He's a good guy, but I'm not learning anything by hearing all of his lectures. We should do more activities. It'd make learning in his class a bit more interesting.
ok, i graduated 2 years ago when he first started there. He has a very distinct way of teaching, and it works, he is a good teacher and he made that class good
yeah, i don't have him, but his voice is annoying and he need's to change his last name, seriously.
