Hello, I'm going to put myself out here in defense of one of my favorite teachers of all time: Mrs. Lai Cao. But first let me introduce myself. Hi, I'm ranked 3rd in the class of 2013, I'm captain of the soccer team, I was on her science bowl team and for a little while part of her science olympiad team. My main distinction though. I'm white. The person below me (v) is somewhat correct about Mrs. Cao: By all means, she will inspire and challenge you. However she will do this no matter your race

Ms. Cao is a polarizing figure. You'll find her fans who will tell you about how fun, smart, and helpful she is. You'll also find others who will say she's mean, her accent unintelligible, and unhelpful. They were probably the ones she made fun of. She is a serious favoritist, so don't get on her bad side, but she does genuinely care about her students enough to run a lot of things like Science Olympiad, NHS, and robotics at the school. Get to know her.

Don't take this class if you're bad at math, as you won't understand what's going on, since this is a challenging, comprehensive introductory physics class. If you enjoy solving problems, you will enjoy her homework and tests. Her homework guides you into figuring out the concepts by yourself, which is the best way to learn physics. Occasionally, the answers on the homework are wrong and she makes logical errors in lecture, but generally this is an inspiring and fun class for problem solvers.

Terrible teacher. Her tests and homework are very different from what she actually teaches in class. She has high expectations, she expects Ph.D level work from juniors. Her class is a pain, she makes fun of students in class., and her labs are annoying. Avoid her.
