Ms. Merhaut suggested that I do independent study in advanced ceramics with her. She treated me as an adult and gave me the freedom to explore my own interests. I went through several ceramic workshops on my own and she gave me credit for that. She expects a lot. If you take art seriously, Ms. Merhaut is on your side and will push you to excel.
I had Ms. Merhaut for 3 years back in the 80's. She wasn't fond of freshmen, but after you had her for a class, she was pretty cool. I'm glad I took her classes.
Maybe she has changed, but I had Mr. Merhaut in the late 90's for AP Studio Art. None of us liked her, she was pretty mean, and picked her pets right away and only paid attention to them.
also a cermaics teacher. i would not say she is very good at relating or connecting with her students.doesn' t inspire.it's sad.
