He is strict but very helpful and informative. His teaching style helped me navigate in his class and I never had a teacher like him before. Some complain about him because he is strict but you will get used to him later on. Respect and hardwork is the key!
he's hard on everyone and so strict
Best teacher. With him it's double the pleasure and double the fun
He's a great teacher who's great at what he does, but he's either a hit or miss. You either like him or you don't. He's definitely unique and really funny at times (if you have a bad sense of humor like me) but can be harsh and obnoxiously strict. (Which, of course, has a perfectly reasonable explanation; respect) He always that you'll miss him after you graduate and you think nothing of it until you really do.
I think that everyone going into Mr. Bonk's class has never had a teacher like him before, so that's why people complain about him. Mr. Bonk doesn't check your work every single day like most teachers do; he leaves it up to you to get it done. That's why I can't stress enough the importance of keeping up with your work. If you do, you will learn a lot from Mr. Bonk and will like his class. It took me a long time to figure out how to keep up with my work, but I ended up enjoying the class.
He is amazing and very helpful. Do what he says and your garunteed and easy A.
Not a good teacher. Many of the things that we do are extremely unnecessary and are more just time wasters.
Mr. Bonk is an amazing teacher. Many have wrong assumptions about him and talking bad about him, but he is a really fun teacher and he knows what he is teaching. Sometimes you can get frustrated because of him, but that is going to prepare you for the future since not everything is going to be easy.
Very strict but ok
Hope this message finds you well; One sentence. Mr. Bonk rocks.
I am currently in Mr. Bonk's class. I thought that his class would be so hard and annoying. He is an amazing teacher who knows basically everything about what he teaches. I wouldn't question him about what he teaches. If you do have him I have two tips for you. 1. Use your ISN for everything. If you forget your ISN, you are doomed. You need it for your survival in his class. 2. Follow his recommendations. I follow most of his recommendations for studying and I still have hard times keeping an A.
I always thought Mr. Bonk was going to be my least favorite teacher, but you know what, he is AWESOME! People who think that he should change are WRONG. He's old fashioned for a reason which makes him so unique! You're never going to meet a teacher like him ever! Also, I don't care how hard he is. He lets you know so many things in a clear statement. He is a amazing history teacher and his knowledge shouldn't be wasted.
Many of the things he makes students do, such as circling key clues on exams, is not very helpful. Many times I have had actual breakdowns due to the stress that he puts students through. I think that his teaching is unique, but not in the best way and many things could be done much faster and more efficiently if he were less about you being over-responsible.Were you sick on a day, and happen to not know many people? Congrats because he won't give ANY of the information. Not my favorite by far.
I've graduated high school now and so far my experience with Mr. Bonk differs greatly from the rest. I graduated with a 4.6 gpa and highest honors, and I've always been a straight A student. I've never had a problem with a teacher before. I had to go to the hospital for a family emergency and he disregarded it because "you're an adult, act like one". I also collapsed under the stress and got physically for two weeks including spring break. Needless to say I didn't get an extension.
Unlike many teachers at Aptakisic, Mr.Bonk makes his class very interesting and enjoyable. Although his quizzes and exams are a bit difficult he still prepares us very well. He also makes very funny jokes. While he is presenting his lectures he adds more information which shows that he knows what he is talking about.
A very good teacher although very strict his teaching style is unique and very good and clear to learn from.
I thought his class wouldn't be that helpful as everyone says it was but oh was I wrong. Compared to the teachers at Stevenson, his teaching style is phenomenal. I promise he's not wasting your time. Whether you're his favorite or not (I wasn't), you'll probably miss him. He deserves awards for his teachings.
Everyone that wrote a positive review is/was likely one of his "favorites". Anyway, easy and fun class. It's a shame that we didn't get along.
Mr.Bonk is an amazing teacher. Although he is strict, he teaches you how to learn properly. The way he teaches you will stick for the rest of your life. He is funny (make sure to laugh even if you don't get the joke), very clear on all of the instructions, and makes class enjoyable. He usually doesn't make you memorize dates, and tells history as more of a story. He is there to help when you need it. Be VERY attentive and follow instructions to do well. Quizzes are straightforward. Loved him!
So here's the Deelie McFeelie as Mrs. Bonk would say. He is the best teacher I will ever have. Hilarious, Fun, Knowledgable, Smart, Strict. He is awesome. The world needs thousands of teachers like him.
Bonk was an interesting experience. He definitely picked favorites in the class and made it VERY clear who he liked. For both of the major projects, I was grouped with a favorite. It didn't matter that I did twice as much of the work they did. He gave them a better score every time. Nevertheless, an A is achievable; when tests and ISN assessments came around, I shined. Just understand what he wants to see in ISNs and aim for perfection. The content isn't hard and he explains well. Really well.
Mr. Bonk manages to inspire students to do better. I have never seen my son strive so much to get an A in his class. He spent hours to get it right. All day we hear is Mr. Bonk this; Mr. Bonk that. I hear the same thing from my son's friends.
He is an inspiration to students and a role model for other teachers.
Larger than life. I had an operational fear of performing poorly in his class ('92), which frankly, made me work as hard and do well. Pop quizzes contributed to that as well. Dynamic personality. An effective "hard-knocks" teaching style that imparted life lessons, i.e. -excuses don't count -prepare like your life depends on it -hard work pays off -appreciate of the institution -I am a gentleman and a scholar
I never fought so hard for an "A", nor was I ever more proud of one. 10/10.
Mr. Bonk is the best teacher you can possibly have. He teaches so good. He is very strict but, he just wants to prepare you for high school. He makes the funniest jokes ever. I am so happy I have him. Mr. Bonk is #1
I am now a freshman in a very large high school, and I can honestly say Mr. Bonk is a teacher you will NEVER forget. He was brutal to the kids who did not put forth an extra effort in his class, which is why history usually came first in terms of priorities. I feel like the Decades project was more character building than anything else; taught you how to work with people you hate haha. He prepares you like no one else, and you should definitely feel lucky to have him. I salute you, sir.
He is a good teacher and all but the Decades project is a pain in the neck. Basically if your group doesn't do anything ur screwed. He says he grades not just your group overall but u as well but that isn't really true. But overall he is a good teacher even though he tells terrible jokes make sure to laugh.
I had him in 6th grade in Chicago and to this day, he is the only teacher we talk about over beers. Not easy, but thorough. Because of him I breezed through all my History classes in HS while still using notes from the 6th grade. Great teacher.
He's an interesting guy to say the least. He thinks he's better than everyone else which is super annoying. He gives work for the sake of giving work. It's just busywork. Put in a lot of effort and you're fine. If you don't put in any effort at all, get ready for a year of hell.
Bonk was the best! I thought he was a hard teacher at the time but in high school you will realize that everything you learned with him is coming back! Save those ISNs! THEY COME IN HANDY
He is the greatest teacher ever!! He is really awesome. He does have favorites though, and all you have to do to become a favorite is to participate once in a while or just go in and ask for help. He was my favorite teacher! Love history bc of him :)
I loved him! i had him right after Brontman (who I hated), so I came into his class for the fun. Sure he gives homework, but he teaches you some interesting stuff that isn't in the book, and his projects are fun. His quizzes/ exams:easy if you study.
He has favorites. I mean FAVORITES. He thinks that he is like the boss of AJHS. His class is boring and he never EVER repeats what he said if you didn't hear him. He makes you do "busy-work." Nudelman is 100000000% better. I'm glad I moved high schools as far from him as possible
Mr.Bonk is the best teacher you will ever have, period. He has daily study sessions to help students when they have any questions for clarification. He has daily quizzes so the information you learned is still clear. Mr.Bonk is honestly the most helpful teacher ever! His jokes make people laugh and when it comes to teaching, he will get right back on track. I don't know anybody who had Bonk and didn't succeed in his or in any other future high school classes. Mr.Bonk actually prepares you.
Mr. Bonk is a great teacher and he is always available for help. He is very harsh on students but if you are getting grades that all students should be getting in his class, he will like you. There is no doubt that he has favorites, and being one of those favorite students, it would be in your benefit to have him in your good side. He defanitly prepares you very well and doesn't try to trick you on assessments like most teachers. He just asks questions that are straight to the point. Also funny
He is a great teacher! I have him this year and before school i thought Mr. Bonk was really tough and scary, and he is, but he is in a good way. He is strict and you have lots of notes, but he prepares you for SHS. And he likes to make jokes, just laugh at them, and he'll like you. he has a great teaching style and really a great guy. the tests might freak you out a bit, but if you study and keep up with your notes, you'll be fine!
Mr. Bonk is a great teacher but he gets soo annoying. He makes really dumb jokes but you should laugh at them and he'll like you better. don't give attitude and always listen to him. NEVER forget your supplies, mostly white-out, pens, highliters, ISN, and your book. USE THE TIP OF THE TIP OF YOUR HIGHLITER or he'll take off points. Just pay attention and you'll do fine. Don't stress out about his class too much.
He is a very strict teacher and gives a ton of homework but he is very helpful and will help a lot going into high school.
This teacher is an amazing guy. He teaches you a LOT, and he's funny when he does it. He's tough, and his class sure isn't easy, but once you get through it, take it from me, you're gonna come out of his class a historical genius, and you're definately going to miss him in High School.
This guy is hit or miss. If he likes you and you put forth some effort- you're set. If he doesn't like you , which was my case, he will make your life very difficult. I would doodle in my notebook and this guy would actually confiscate my doodles and then show them to my parents. I'm just happy that I had this guy during 8th grade and not in college where the grades actually matter. This guy had a rather negative influence on my education as I couldn't stand history for 4 years after having him.
favorite teacher ever... he is very smart and super clear and wants u to suceed... very good teaching style and his class is tooooons of work and u take alot of notes but it prepares u for shs.. only bad thing is he refuses to call people by their nicknames like jake for jacob or jenny for jennifer yet he goes by larry when his name is lawrence
Mister Bonk was such a wonderful man he knew if you naughty or nice.He would help you become a better public speaker. He is AMAZING but i though he was the ghettoest teacher from the suburbs that came from CHICAGO like me .....Peace- CASTRO
Mr. Bonk is the greatest teacher ever. He explains everything in depth and he is very knowledgeable. He got me to study more than just "Pre-Historic" life, but i am also studying ancient civilizations
Unlike most people say i think his class was definitely easy all you had to do is be prepared and listen in class. He did have favorites and i was one of them but he was very nice to everyone. We coul
I LOVE MR BONK. He's brilliant! He is my inspiration to get interested in studying history. He's so smart, so clever, but his class is not easy. BUT HE'S AMAZING !:D
WHAT A GREAT teacher my favorite teacher for EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVE
I loved him. Best 8th grade teacher, without a doubt. He really explains his subject and makes it interesting all at once. Though strict, he really prepares you for high school, especially with quick
he is the strict-ist teacher i have ever had. he goes really fast for note taking and you get a lot of homework. but he gets you ready for high school and everyone loves him in the end of the year!
WOW. Tough luck if you have him. He's one of the strictest teachers at Aptakisic. His nicknames and corny humor try to make you cheer up, but you just kind of nervously chuckle. His outlines were diff
I personally did not like Mr. Bonk. I don't think he really prepared us for high school, he was much too hard on the kids. I was dead scared of him, he was reallly mean!!! His quizzes were much too sh
He is very helpful and WILL prepare you for high school. He is strict but teaches you to focus. If you are having a difficult time in his class, go to his morning review sessions or ask for help.
I had Mr. Bonk in 2002. I just graduated law school and I still use his outline methods and remember him as my favorite.
Even after graduating college, Mr. Bonk is the only teacher I will always remember. He was by far the best teacher I have ever had and got me prepared for everything I was going to face in school. A
Best teacher at AJHS. I looked forward to go to his class and he really cares about u.
Mr. Bonk is the most passionate teacher I have ever met. Although he has a rather professional demeanor, he truely cares about each of his students and how they react to the subject matter.
To whoever wrote RIP, Mr. Bonk is very much alive and teaching. A diffferent Mr. Bonk teaching in Canada died. Bonk has a lot of energy. Start expecting more out of yourself!
I personally think he expects way too much out of 8th graders, he is a good teacher though. He uses big words to make us try and be like him though. He wants us to use the same sort of vocab.
I'm sorry you never lived up to 8th grade level stuff in Mr. Bonk's class. He made history really interesting!
Best. Teacher. Ever. He's super strict because it teaches you discipline and totally prepares you for high school! :)
Most influencial teacher i've ever had, to date. Taught me so much about history and was really funny at the same time. I feel bad for people who don't get him as a teacher!
A very good history teacher, but sometimes i would just like to scream in his face!
best history teacher. he is so funny and gets the information in the students minds with other information. from the fellow music lover
mr. bonk is a really great teacher. i am really happy i have him as a teacher.
I had him last year; all I can say that he is an awesome teacher and has helped me a lot at Stevenson
As a former student of Mr. Bonk's that has gone through some high school social studies classes, I am so glad I had him. He really did prepare me well, and I still remember small facts from his class
Really prepares you for high school. kind of scared me at the bigining of the year. but once you leave him and come back to visit. he's a totaly different person. way nicer
He is my teacher right now, and he is my favortie. love him
HE HAS 92 RATINGS CUZ HES AMAZING. he walked into my history class junior year and i was SOO HAPPY!! he is intense and his class is a lot of work but after 8th i realized i love bonk "but i digress"
Mr. Bonk is an interesting one; as a college student,I can say that he made me work harder than I have to in college, but cares and definitely is a great teacher, just a little too hard for 8th grade.
extremely good teacher!!! funny when he trys to make his jokes!
I had Mr. Bonk 7 years ago. I have yet to come across a better teacher. Strict, yes. But you'll remember the information forever! Every single one of his lectures was extremely interesting!!!
He can be wierd and hard sometimes but it is funny when he makes a joke no one laughs and then everyone laughs that nowone laughed
One of the best teachers ive ever had. At the beginning of the year I had him I tried so hard to get out because of what people said about him. After having him, I've been a better speaker and has prepared me to my move to Florida. Wish I could come back and thank him. I don't care what anyone else says about him, he will make your life way easier if you just pay attention and do the work.
I had Mr. Bonk six years ago and he's still my favorite teacher of all time.
i can't listen to the song girlfriend anymore but thats ok lol. he is strict BUT funny.
Mr Bonk may have his issues, but you cannot deny that his class teaches the kids basic study skills that will prove very valuable later on.Their writing skills and attention to detail improves greatly
i currently have Mr. Bonk and am very depressed for Avril if many of u know he sang "GIRLFRIEND"...anyways he is very strict but i think i'll do well next year i try to do as best as i possibly can but somehow i still have a C i dont know why he says i dont do well in his oral quizes i tend to smile alot i guess =]..if i atleast graduate with a B+ im proud of my self and prepared for stevenson and yes i'll try to show those Daniel wrong students...hopefully
So mean. He was great, and he prepared me, but he chose favorites like none other, and wouldn't raise my grades if i didn't go to lunch every day... He only asked me to go to "study" He judged me on how my brother and sister did...I hated that. Though he was a very good teacher, he knows his stuff.
Mr. Bonk is an amazing teacher. I think that he is by far the best teacher in the district. Yes, his class is hard, but that is life. Not everything can be easy. The people who get anything lower than an A- in his class are extremely stupid because they slack off on something that if you really but your heart into it, you can easily get an A+.
I currently have Mr.Bonk as my teacher, and he's an excellent teacher, diffidently the best I've ever had. I know if you do good in his class Stevenson is going to be a breeze. So far I have had to put effort in every single assignment, I can never slack off in his class, lol, but I guess that's what science is for :D
Possibly one of the best teachers out there. He shows you the door, and helps you step through it. His knowledge of history is endless and truly has a gift for teaching. Taking his class seriously and putting forth maximum effort will guarantee success.
He over prepares you for Stevenson, which i guess is a good thing, but i think he expects a bit too much for an 8th grader
