Mr. Lawson is one of the best religion teachers at STA. Many say he will not listen to others opinions but I can tell you from experience that he listened to me everyday even when we completely disagreed. He asks for arguments that make sense not just "I feel like that is wrong." It is the first religion class where I could speak my mind and he made the study of ethics very interesting and engaging. Do not be intimidated, if he yells then yell back and appreciate his knowledge.
He is an extremely disrespectful person. If you have a differing belief, he will literally spend fifteen minutes of class bashing everything you believe in. He will refuse to hear anyone out. He claims that he wants to hear your opinions in essays, but then he openly said that if someone has a differing opinion on a specific subject, he'll fail them. You have to write exactly what he believes in, or else you will fail. God forbid you hold your own beliefs.
Seems like a decent guy at the beginning, until he starts ranting the no religion can be correct except his. The ego of this man is off the charts. Disagree with him on a religious subject? Too bad. Be ready for a ten minute rant of him bashing your beliefs. He constantly complains of how students never engage in his class, but why would we if he's just going to insult our beliefs and pound us back into the ground? I can't say anything nice about the man after he's demoralized my beliefs.
Excellent teacher who was there to foster in students the thinking skills to be successful academically and in their moral and spiritual lives. He had little tolerance of morons and I suspect he took heat for that since some of his colleagues and administrators settle for mediocrity. I am in grad school now and I still draw on things he thought and the way he would set up an argument. Best teacher I ever had.
He was outstanding with my son and helped him to believe in himself. Couldn't have asked for a better teacher. My son is now serious about college and knows that he can make it. Thanks
He should be teaching film class. It's amazing what he can see in any movie. He's a smart teacher who cares about kids and he's also got a sharp wit! Welt on Academy from Dead Poets lol!
Actually I have to disagree with the previous student. He absolutely refuses to tell you what to think - he wants you to make up your own mind. no "mushroom theology" ever! lol. Great teacher
Very critical of your opinions. If you wish to preserve your grade it is best to not disagree with him. Close-minded and short-fused. He lead to my denouncing of religion, so I thank him for that.
He can totally crush any wannabee atheist in class. He has the coolest quotes and genuinely wants kids to earn their grades. Very good homeroom teacher.
OK. He's not the easiest teacher at STA to get a good grade with But he's an amazing guy and very entertaining teacher. I'll never forget the Star Trek skit. I loved his quotes. Overall A class act.
I can't believe the stupid criticisms of Mr L. He is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Yeah he doesn't give easy A's and he's pretty strict but I absolutely loved his class.
Absolutely brilliant teacher. Not a single bad lesson in the entire semester
Mr. Lawson taught me in a tough inner city school in London. He was the best teacher in the school - a brilliant mind and took no nonsense. He really cares about kids and actually saved a kid's life.
I LOVE HIM! hes such a nice person!! ive had a lot of problems @ school this year and all the sudden he inspired me, he'll do anything for you just talk to him!
NIce guy, strict, but willing to help if you ask. He's very book based--in order to pass tests, you MUST read the text. Interesting in class.
"Nice guy, but the problem is he didnt teach what he should be teaching but still gave tests on it." Exactly, and I really couldn't figure out how he came up with grades, either.
Very nice religious man, very strict. Use common sense when asking a question! I enjoyed his class.
nice guy, but the problem is he didnt teach what he should be teaching but still gave tests on it. and i think he tried his best to try to trick you on the scantrons, esp. T/F
He definately picks favorites. Once I turned in an essay that had the same information as my friend's, he got a 90 while I got a 75. Please explain that to me?
Cool Guy, world traveler and great teacher, from your pizza boy
I think he's really nice, and if you pay attention he isnt too hard.
