By far the most honest teacher I have which can be refreshing. Chemistry is a difficult subject but I feel that she does a good job at explaining most topics. I've been struggling in her class but fully recognize that I have nobody to blame for that but myself. Overall a nice lady and a funny and relateable person.
shes the best-- really helpful and fun
I love being in Mrs. Nguyen's class. She's nice and funny. I really like how she is willing to sit down and explain something to me for the whole lunch period until I understand. Many people who have reviewed her say that she is not respectful, but since I've given her nothing but respect, I've had nothing but positive experiences. Do your work, care about the class, ask for help, and have a good attitude about learning and you'll be more than fine.
Her attitude made taking honors chem not enjoyable. Clearly she doesn't like her job. My class was noisy and didn't follow directions, but she lost her temper really easily at times. Probably lost a lot of motivation to teach as the year went on. Gets sidetracked a lot. Complained about how my 1st semester had too many A's. 2nd semester was too many B's and she cut a lot of those B's into C's. She is clearly concerned that she wants to make her class hard on purpose.
Her REGULAR chem class is not hard. People in my class say she's hard BC they don't listen n' just write the notes. Understand what she's teaching u while she teaches u tht way tests will be ez. I hv barely studied 4 any of her tests bc I hv more important classes n' get only 1-3 wrong on her test n' always a 100% on quizzes. BUT she's a pain. She screams all the time. The only time she doesnt yell is when she has a story to tell the class about her life, otherwise expect yelling almost everyday
She hates her job and has all but admitted it. Doesn't know how to teach regular chem, just re-uses old ap material. Blames her incompetence and terrible attitude on her baby. Uses obscene language and racial slurs. No sense of boundaries. Has admitted to stealing school supplies as well. Needs to be replaced.
Had Nguyen last year, she made me love chem even though she wasn't really there last year. She's really good at teaching and explaining things, you just have to pay attention. People say she's rude etc. But honestly what do they expect when they give her attitude. Plus she just had a baby and she's probably not getting a lot of sleep. All in all she's a great teacher, grades things in a timely manner as well
Honestly, if you just pay attention in class and don't talk while she's talking you get on her good side. Some kids in my class always mess around and those are the kids that don't care about school. How would you not expect her to feel frustrated at times? Kids will be talking in class and then ask her a question on what they missed. If you pay attention, Chemistry is not that bad.
Don't get me wrong, she knows her stuff. But I think her catchphrase is "You guys should know this!". She expects more than half her class to fail, since that "always happens every year," yet she doesn't question whether the problem could be her. More often than not, it's her student's faults. She is VERY encouraging though. During finals she assured us that "most of the class is going to fail". Hmm, wonder why? If you get her class, start looking into summer school or a tutor!
Her class makes me want to bawl my eyes out. I'm not going to say she's horrible, because the people who really care about chemistry end up getting decent grades. Her curriculum, while still better than other teachers', isn't the main problem-it's her attitude about teaching. She has stated multiple times that she doesn't care about her students and PURPOSELY makes it hard for all of us. It's unreasonable and unprofessional. The good part is that she grades fast.
she's just a nasty, rude person in general. chemistry is a hard class, and yet she expects us to understand concepts right away and snaps at us when we ask questions. she clearly hates kids and her job, and sees us all as ignorant teenagers and nothing more. "i don't care how busy you say you were, i was probably busier." "i didn't feel like grading your tests this weekend- i have a life, you know." she's an immature hypocrite, and i've never disliked a teacher quite as much as her.
This teacher wastes half the class talking about her husband when she could have been teaching her students something. She is chill most of the times but she can really act like a child at times.
I loved Ms. Nguyen but she won't round for her life. Less than .3% away from an A first semester but still no rounding. Sad.
Despite what others said, I think she was a great AP chem teacher. She does offer help if you ask her, which most kids don't do anyways. If you're a hardworker and aren't afraid to ask questions, you can get an A in her class.
She's really nice as a person but can get very grumpy (I don't think she likes teaching very much) and in turn, can be very impatient if students don't understand the material. Most of the time she simply says, "You should know this". Although there are the good days when she's happy and will actually help. There were times when I wanted to get her fired, but then in the end I realized she wasn't all that bad of a teacher. She just had her on and off (many of those) days.
She is a great Chemistry teacher and she prepares the AP students really well. Most people just get frustrated with their own skill level and are not used to an AP class. The kids assume that it will be like other classes--their fault. Just ask her questions and do all of your work and she will always be willing to help you. She is also is very affable teacher and is personal.
"Well, class, i would teach u complex ions, but i dont understand them myself" -Ms. Nguyen. The first equation on the AP test, was a complex ion problem
She fully prepares you for the ap test no problem..if people are lazy that's their own fault
I think she's a good teacher. She tells us funny stories sometimes, but we always get our work done. Her tests are hard, but the homework brings your grade up!
Students get yelled at for asking questions. And when you do something wrong you get yelled at also...dunno what I should do. Too many dating and boyfriend stories.
hope that she is more motivated to teach Chem AP. Students are confused in the class.
she doesnt care about the students and wants them to fail
Not a good teacher at all. Gets distracted easily and teaches on a whim and sometimes only if she feels like it. Talks too much about personal life and bf, not enough about bonding and reactions.
She can't really teach well. Well, obviously the AP students know that she doesn't know the material. She doesn't care about you. She just cares about her passing rate. Too bad she hated us. :]
She is the only teacher that ever said "well you figure it out, because I don't have to do it"
Very nice teacher! Even though you might not learn from her in AP, you have to learn by yourself, but that's what AP is, self determination. Very nice, relaxing class!
she's so nice....it's so easy to get an A in that class
She is such an awesome teacher. She's always there if you need help. Sometimes she gets angry but it's mostly the fault of the students. She's very friendly and kind.
ms nguyen is pretty nice. her class is easy if you do all the work. she's like one of the kids which makes her awesome
If you pass your quizes and turn in your hwk, you will always get an A. She's a nice teacha =)
Mrs. Nguyen is very helpful she's so nice. She 's so funny
cool teacher~ i had her for summer school, had the funnest time of my life. Shes a great teacher and also a wonderful friend
Ms. Nguyen is a good teacher but she gets angry very fast.
