Dr. Eysturlid is one of the best history teachers I have had here at the academy. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable about his subject, but he's also an engaging lecturer who's also funny. He's always been helpful outside of class, and is a great teacher and person overall. Some of his reading material is a little difficult, but he does a good job of explaining it in class and never quizzes without covering the material first. Overall Dr. E is absolutely amazing at what he does.

There are many varying opinions on here, so let me clarify. First off, he is knowledgeable, humorous, spiffy, and has an engaging ring to his voice. The reason he disgusts my soul is that *THE MATERIAL IS TOO COMPLEX FOR TEENAGERS TO RELATE TO OR BENEFIT*. Example, we covered how specific armor from ancient Mongolians impacted the evolution of warfare. He also has an "International Relations" class. NO TEENAGER WILL BE ABLE TO FULLY UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL-Im out of words, I feel bad for his son

Probably the most brilliant and knowledgeable man I've ever met. Strict, but I learned a lot from him.

Dr. Eysturlid is strict; there's no denying it. I had him for Conflict and found that I had to work very hard to maintain an A. He has frequent pop quizzes, so you should make sure to ALWAYS read. However, if you can get past his stern looks and towering figure, you'll be fine. Warning: he may make fun of you at any time during the semester. Just shrug and laugh it off. You should also make sure to go in and talk to him often because he's a cool guy to talk to and is always willing to help.

He's not a nice guy. He isn't. Is he a good teacher? Sort of. He knows what he's talking about, but he breaks it all up into tiny-bit size pieces which are frankly kind of insulting to the intelligence of his students.

He is seriously one of the greatest teachers I have ever had. People who don't like him either slack off in his class or don't take the material seriously. Just think before you speak.

An amazing, amazing teacher. One of the most truly intelligent people I've ever been so lucky as to be taught by. A sharp wit and a sharp tongue that make for classes that are both entertaining and educational. You learn to think before you speak. Smartest man I've yet met (though I've still got a few years to live, admittedly), always open to suggestion and always willing to help and answer questions, as long as you THINK THROUGH THEM first.

He doesn't take criticism well, and if he makes a mistake do not try to correct him. He will be very close minded. He may be one of the worst history teachers at IMSA.

Dr. Eysturlid has been a mediocre teacher for me. Although in the class, the material is covered in a way that's easy to understand, I often dread attending. The reasons include everything from participation grades which take into account basically how much he likes you on a certain day to difficult pop quizzes. The thing that is the most absurd is that he will often remark on my personal appearance (or if not me, other students). It is extremely uncomfortable.

Avoid this instructor. He will go out of his way to repeatedly, personally demean you. Closed-minded, gives tons of busywork (useless, tedious stuff/outlines), and puts his ego on a pedestal.

he forms opinions of his students on the first day of class. and if he doesnt like you, your grade is basically screwed... ex: 17/20 on all quizes, A on only presentation, no papers... 72% avg

He is an excellant teacher, and though he has right-wing beliefs, he does not impose them on class material. He is hillarious in class, and the group of people who he makes fun of bring it upon themselves.

Dr. Eysturlid is a great teacher, just go over your notes, he can have a quiz at any time. Also, read your assignments carefully. He does justify his beliefs, people tune out his justifications. A class to look forward to.

I think he is a fraud. Okay, he earned a Ph.d so that isn't the problem. The problem: he doesn't justify his right wing beliefs or his grading which are both arbitrary and capricious. I suppose its in his inner being.
