love her. mean in the beginning but easy teacher if ur on her good side, does assign unclear projects that are really hard. otherwise super nice and pretty chill HOMEWORK ON THE WEEKEND
She is very difficult
Mrs. Reed is a teacher you will grow to hate. She constantly loses assignments and gets very angry. Her assignment board is VERY sloppy and confusing. Lots of tests also. Every week she makes you do two 3 paragraph articles on an issue in the news. She never reads these. Don't get her!
I never had her for English but I really wish I had. She expects a lot from her Civitas cla sses, but as long as you get on her good side freshman year you'll be fine. Really understanding when it comes to making up work from absences. Can get away with late work if she likes you ;) Demonstrate to her that you have a genuine passion for learning by asking questions and taking up her offers for out-of-school activities. Make friends with your civitas classmates & work together IT'S THE ONLY WAY
Very difficult teacher, but taking her class is rewarding. She can come off a bit rude sometimes, I recall one day she was yelling at the class and she singled me out, embarrassing me greatly. Overall, the class was fantastic.
She is a really good teacher, even if she does give a lot of busy work. She is hard, but she teaches how to write and that is very valuable. Don't be scary, you'll get through it.
Great Teacher! Really knows what she's talking about.
After having her for three years, I can say that Mrs. Reed takes a bit of getting used to, but compared to future offerings she's by far the best English class you're going to get. The low reviews come partially because of the way that her class sheds students - in many cases students who survive are the wheat amongst the chaff of average Honors students from middle school. She gives a ton of homework, and occasionally this backfires on her when it comes to collecting it, but if you watch your missing assig
Do the work, and pay attention. She is a nice person, her bark is worse than her bite. She has a lot to teach, so respect that. You will gain a great basis of literature knowlegde for your next years in the English program. In Civitas, she favors you(us) so know that. She expects you to be smarter (really that just means your essays can be bs and she won't care as much). She yells so much you become immune to it, don't sweat. She stopped teaching us once, said we were being rude. Keep up with the work.
She definitely is not as strict as she makes herself seem; she's actually a super fun teacher. Do the work, participate in class and don't talk while she's talking and you'll learn a lot and do great in the class. The cultural aspect of the class is fun as well. Just make sure to do the essays on time and follow her instructions for writing them because those are the biggest part of your grade, and manage the work because there tends to be a fair amount of it.
Ahh, Mrs. Reed. Many students have fallen for her angry teacher act, it's pretty funny because I always thought it was pretty obvious that she just acts mean for fun. She knows what she is doing and uses an interesting teaching style. If you want to see actual mean teachers, go see Mr. Robertson, Mr. Jamieson, etc.
I love Mrs. Reed. Though people think she is mean and hates them, I think she simply just wants to prepare us for the outside world and college. Everyone one who has graduated from her class and went to college has told me that having her as a teacher really did help them or is currently helping them in college. She really wants to help and you really do learn a lot. She definitely knows what she is talking about and believe in every student. She just wants students to reach their potential.
i love mrs reed! if you do the work and participate the class is so fun! you learn a ton! we even did yoga and tai chi. its really cultural so you learn things from history too not just how to write. definitly follow her method for writing papers and dont not turn in a paper or you'll fail.
As an english teacher one would hope that Mrs. Reed would learn that irregardless is not a word.
Tons of English homework but I learned a lot. I didn't learn anything freshmen year in civitas, but it wasn't too hard.
Mrs. Reed is an amazing teacher and I am sad that I didn't realize this until the end of the year. She teaches you so much and made me grow as a writer. Best teacher I've had.
She covers information that has nothing to do with the standards of the class. She has the idea that 3 twenty question-long short answer tests are easy if they are open-book. Avoid CIVITAS.
She is a teacher that you are warned about at the beginning of the year when someone looks at your schedule, but if you speak up in class, turn in homework, and try to do well, it is an easy class. But beware! if one essay is not turned in, you fail the class! Also remember to turn in big projects on the deadline. by the end of the year it is also really easy to get away with turning in late work if you don't mention it to her.
Be prepared for the onslaught of homwork- don't talk when she's talking if you want to live.
She is a great teacher. She's hard, but you really learn from her. Plus I loved her Gods tests because i got an A every time!
she is a GREAT teacher and u are lucky if u get her. there is a lot of hmwk but u get used to it and as long as u do ur work.. and semi well u will have a B... its not ezy.. but a GREAT class
doesn't really grade or read assignments. Can be really rude and doesn't teach all that well-just assigns work. can't wait to be done with her.
Doesn't favor or negate CIVITAS freshman students. Numerous, numerous assignments. Organized and relatively professional, but not an easy class.
TONS OF HW!She especially likes u if ur in CIVITAS, but its easy 2 get an A if u do all of ur work. Even if u fail the gods tests, it really doesn't matter, because there r so many points in the class
very nice. she gives lots of homework. also lts of essays, papers, and prjects.but you get to know every one in class
She's an awesome teacher. Unfortunately she sometimes assigns so much work to all her classes that she doesnt have time to grade it properly or organize. Still you learn tons in her class.
gives a tonnnnn of homework, but getting it advances helps some people. i procrastinate too much :/ she makes you think a lot and loves to give quizes.
she is an AWESOME teacher. you'll hate her in the beginning cuz she gives a lot of homework, but you learn SO much from her. She is also SUCH a nice person if you get to know her.
The homework that she starts you with is dificult but once you get to know her and the way she teaches, she'll be one of your favorite teachers. A little weird but not in a bad way, very helpful, and overall a very good class, you will truely learn alot.
not helpful, clear or easy, but you'll grow to love and appreciate her
She's a toughy, but you'll get used to her and thank her in the long run. Her sense of humor is sarcastic, but you'll learn to appreciate it. :)
Laughs at her own jokes. She never quite explains projects, she just tells you what they r. Loved having stuff in advance. Good if u like work
gives a lot of homework, but overall a good teacher.
An inspiring woman. Though she wants you to succeed, she won't mind failing you if you deserve it. Humorous and wise, good students will love her, I did
Mrs. Reed is a great teacher and i learned a lot from her. Even though the calss seemed hard when i was in it, it made Gatewood WAY easier. Mrs. Reed is great!
i think she is a nice person, but i didn't rate her very well because she isn't understanding. she also laughs at her own jokes a lot.
good teacher, but not very understanding, give us a break ms reed
She gives a lot of hw and doesnt really explain it but she grades the hw pretty easily though.
Mrs. Reed was my favorite teacher freshman year & I loved knowing the hw in advance! Very funny & nice, tons of work but I learned alot, I miss her!!
Just because she gives homework, doesn't mean Mrs. Reed isn't a great teacher. She is excellent and anyone who says otherwise is just plain lazy.
Learn her essay format in her freshman year honors course and you have an A in every English class or class with essay assignments you take in college.
She really is perparing us students for college and the work is really hard, but she seriously needs to calm down with all the work.
She is insane... She assigns pointless work cause we r "honor students" if possible transfer asap. i quote from her "sleep, u dont ever sleep in hs" her fault!!
Taught English4 like AP class. HARD! but she's such a dear of a lady. Very nice!
Im so glad i had her this year...to prepare for Gatewood. she is hard...but once you get through her and gatewood your gliding!
man she is indestructable, invincible. broke her leg last year and she came back in like 2 days
Really enjoyed her class. She liked to pick on people though. Wear WOOL socks and point them out... trust me, brownie points.
A really great teacher, I learned more from her than any other teacher, she scared me freshman year but I'm grateful!
although a challenging class, really cool teacher and i learn and benefit from it A LOT. this class is COOL! muHAha
Mrs Reed is my hero. Go Kings. Freshman year was a blast. well. .except for all of those terrible essays. .but whatever. atleast she's a doug christie fan
her calss is hard and she like to pick on you if you dont know the answer......what the h?
i liked her as a teacher, the work was just too much for me tho.(seeing as i didn't do it)
Mrs. Reed is a great teacher. She is very challenging yet nice and clear.
Great teacher, like a miniture gatewood, in that they both teacher wonderful classes, and are challenging
She definitely knows her stuff since she hasn't forgotten a thing since birth but is really random and moody. You're not able to sleep but you get credit for participation which helps the illiterate like me. Beware, she will yell at you once in her class.
always tells our class were rude, yet she's even more rude herself. lots of meaningless work. very mean
Reed teaches good stuff in her world lit class, but assigns way to much meaningless work, and is degrading and cruel to many of her students. She is also self-defensive and unjustifiably rude.
VERY HARD and more meaningless work than you'll ever want to do. Usually nice and entertaining though.
I think she is an awesome teacher. That's true, she's hard, but it's probably my favorite class. How else are we gonne prepare for Gatewood?
Eh...somedays are good, a lot aren't, her class is a lot of work.
