Mrs. Cook is a very hard teacher but not encouraging. She will bring you down and if you get her you should definitely switch out. She uses students as examples instead of actually wanting them to achieve high goals.
Mrs cook is a great teacher and knows what shes doing. Shes very strict especially to her honors and ap classes but is very clear what she wants from you. She will also gladly help you and answer your questions and just talk to you. She has little tolerance for bad students and appreciates those who try hard. Your grades in her class will truly feel earned; overall not too hard of a class just study!
Mrs. Cook may be intimidating at first glance, but once you get to know her, she is truly a kind and intelligent woman. Although her sarcasm and sharp remarks might put off a lot of people, she doesn't actually hold genuine, negative thoughts behind them. She's helped me for hours over the course of a week to guide me on my essays and speech, and made me appreciate the grade I earned in the class. If you don't try in her class though.. expect to receive a much lower grade.
Mrs.Cook's class will mean more than just a letter grade. She is an expert in her area, and just as long as you put in the effort, you'll walk out feeling ready for even college Eng class. She genuinely cares about your education, but she leaves it up to you to make the best out of your resources. So really make the conscious effort to take advantage of that.
She's can definitely come off as scary at first, but she's a sweet lady w a unique sense of humor. You're blessed to have her
Cook is really intimidating at first, but she's honestly a really nice lady! And she actually cares about preparing you for the AP test, SATs, public speaking, or whatever else life may throw your way. It' s not easy getting an A in her class, so you have to study really hard and pay attention. But if you don't get something, just go to her and ask! She's really helpful. She's also really funny and knows what she's doing.
Mrs.Cook is one of the most intelligent teachers I've ever had. From my experience in English 2 Honors, I have learned many valuable lessons that are going to help me next year. I'm glad I took Mrs.Cook's class.
Mrs. Cook is my favorite teacher because she is extremely intelligent and helps her students whenever they ask for it. I recently took the AP Rhet test (I'm a junior) and I feel very confident about my score because I learned so much from her class!
She's a really nice and knowledgeable teacher for AP Rhet. She grades pretty harshly on the essays so a lot of people get B's in her class but the essays are not impossible. She rarely gives homework and is pretty chill. By far the best Rhet teacher
An inspiring teacher with eloquence. Useful lectures and great at teaching. Always there for help if needed. Hard essays but trains you well.
If you get her.... Switch out.
Best AP rhet teacher on campus by far. Grades essays very critically, which means tons of people are gonna get very low grades, but it also means that everyone learns a TON about good essay writing. She's nice and pretty relaxed; her class was one of my favorites in all of high school. The harsh essay grading will get EVERYONE a B in class for the first couple months, but at the very end, she gives a ton of A so most people end up with an A. 97% pass rate for AP rhet test 2013. Nuff said
I had Cook for 2 years in a row and I ended up with an A in her classes. She doesn't give too much homework and she mostly just lectures in class. She is very helpful and she will always take the time to help you. Don't talk in her class. She doesn't like students that interrupt her class and sooo be a good quiet student that participates only when she asks. People just do not like her because she grades hard compared to the other english teachers, but just try hard and listen to her directions.
She is one of the sweetest teachers at dbhs! There is a lot of participation and writing in that class! Also, she grades writing assignments super hard! However, it helps you to become a better writer! She is also very understanding because she moved our test once because lots of people had other tests day.
I LOOOOOVE MRS.COOK! (: she is definitely one of the greatest teachers in this school. She is so helpful to her students and made me view literature in an entirely different way. Her writing is soo good and makes me want to be better. No other teacher has done that for me. One of the reasons that Mrs. Cook is so good is because she actually has a life. She is like a mom and she talks like a regular person. She laughs with us and is constantly smiling. JUST GREAT. PERIOD.
Like the person before me said, Mrs. Cook's class is tough, but, this doesn't mean she isn't a good teacher. She's very intelligent ! She gets along well with us in class, and has a great sense of humor , feels like a mom ! But Im not lying when I say the class is not easy. ASKASKASK ! she's always there to help, and she explains very well. I see literature in a different perspective, and I truly enjoy learning from her.
"If you have her, TRANSFER..." Why did you not transfer then? You could always take the easy way out with regular english :P Mrs. Cook is a SERIOUSLY intelligent teacher, lady knows her stuff! I had her for English 2H and I don't regret it at all!
Very strict, inconsistent in her policies, favors certain students. If you have her, TRANSFER... She is honestly the most unfair teacher I have ever had and I wish I was not in her class. The environment presented in her class was (at least to me) very unmotivating and intimidating. She was very mean to me as well... Being in her class was not by any stretch of the imagination a good experience for me.
I LOVED her class! She's an extremely good teacher and will thoroughly answer any questions you may have. :)
Honestly, she isn't a bad teacher, but she isn't a great teacher. The reason I dislike her is because she didnt raise my grade of a 89.93 my freshman year. Besides that, she is a good teacher, knowled
amazing english teacher. (: she's really chill if you have her last period, and generally knows what she's doing. get on her good side, and you're set.
Just try your BEST... Don't bs your work or else your grade will be bs. Definitely not an easy A, but attaining the grade you want depends on the amount of effort you put. Not much homework, so study
I loved Mrs. Cook's class :) She is super nice/approachable and she can actually teach. She gives out more projects, less HW. Make sure you study for vocab tests and you'll get an A
Mrs. Cook is an absolutely inspirational teacher. She is probably the best English teacher on campus, and I respect her greatly. Just follow her rules, try hard, and she will like you. She can be hard
She is nice and fun. Her class is not that boring it is entertaining and she is funny. Her class is pretty hard but not impossible.
mrs.cook is a really nice and funny person. hahaha. she is a pretty good teacher too, but her grading is pretty tough. Since there aren't many assignments in her class, NEVER forget an assignment.
She's really nice :] just work hard and pay attention in her class and you'll do fine.
Although many people say that her class is hard, it's possible to get an A if you really try on every single assignment. She's a great teacher, and you'll learn alot (also, no daily homework! =D)
I really like Cook! She made class fun and she was a great teacher. Her test are pretty hard and there are a lot of essays but you don't get homework daily.
She is a great teacher who teaches and challenges you, she took the time out of her schedule to help me on another paper i had. She has a lot of knowledge to offer if your willing to listen.
I heard that this year, she favors sophomores more than freshman. only one freshman got an A with a 90.2 in one of the classes. She doesn't teach writing skills but just uses hard vocab to sound smart
She's a really good English teacher, I guess her rating is down because her grading is a tad tough.
the class is average, sometimes it gets hard. she doesnt give that much time for projects and stuff like that, but she can be very helpful and when she goes over novels she explains every little thing
wow seriously she is a hard teacher!!! she is a really boring and uninteresting person and gives wayyyyyyy to many essays. i am being completely honest when i say she is one of the hardest teachers!!
i liked her she was pretty boring and she forgot the assignments and most of her tests were very easy !
A very good teacher. The class is hard though, you'll have to work for an A.
seriously, shes not that bad... if you have her sophomore yr, she gets lazy & doesnt make you read as many books as the other classes :) its true that theres not many As, but just do what 11/06 said..
she is reallyreally nice but even working SUPER HARD you still might not be able to get an A
she either gave no hmwrk or way to much. and she likes to assign hmwrk on vacations. don't diagree with her and don't talk slang in her class unless u want a lecture.
Happy New Year! Getting Mrs. C again second semester! Happy Dayz!
mrs cook is the best. i wish i could have her next year too =D
Mrs. Cook has some good stuff. Vocab is not fun. Very dull. She is a good teacher though
Mrs Cook is alright. She has been poorly rated by some dopes on here. Write accurately not from a juvenile point of view.
Mrs. Cook is cool. Wish she would take back the Yearbook. She is sweet you have to take time to get to know her.
For an honors teacher she isn't so bad. Previous ratings are by people who are either stoopid and lazy, or can't do the work. Get a clue. She is okay by me.
When she asks for your opinion...don't give it to her. Tell her what she wants to hear. She hates anybody who thinks differently. By far, one of the worst.
i thought mrs.cook was ok. she did give alot of hw at once...but other than that, i thought she was ok. She was nice to me :)
Ugh, she either gives no hw, or a whole BUNCH.. and she plays favorites
