Term 2 sophomore here! On the very first day of school, I walked into her class, heard her accent, and decided I wasn't going to be able to learn anything ---- and boy was I wrong. I've kept a streak of 5 quizzes so far with perfect scores! As long as you listen in class, take notes, and actually do your work, Dr. Yu's class is a breeze! She's so chill that she's writing me a recommendation for a medical internship I'm applying to. Unless you love math = physics, pray you get my girl for chem
She is actually really nice and funny. Her teaching is mostly from the curriculum but it's not boring. Great teacher and person.
Dr. Yu's accent can be hard to follow at first, but if you actually try to hear what she's saying it's pretty easy to understand her. She's a good teacher and she doesn't like to put up with people who think they can get away with not doing her hw. She might even occasionally get angry if you ask dumb questions (ie questions that show you clearly weren't paying attention or questions that show you haven't grasped basic concepts yet). If you put in the effort and pay attention, its a great class.
Dr. Yu is one of the worst teachers at this school. Going to extra help always ended in me walking out in tears because she would chastise me for not understanding the whole time....i mean really scream at me too. she seems nice 75% of the time in class but she reallllly has a temper. Can't understand a word she's saying and she honestly doesn't teach us anything--half the kids can self teach, but the other half will really struggle.
Honestly, she makes me wish that I had taken Physics this year. Her class is basically taken straight out of the Chemistry book and I feel like it'd be 100 times more efficient if the book taught us instead. She's knowledgeable, yes, but her class is very bland. I'd rather write a 10,000 word essay on what Latin means to me than sit in that class for any more time than necessary. She easily gets frustrated when you don't do exactly what she says when she says it. Overall, pray you don't get her.
Amazing teacher. Always willing to help you if you need it. Her accent is the only thing that can be difficult. As long as you pay attention you should be fine.
I love Dr. Yu! She's adorable, and she really deserves a better rating. She really made me love chem and the slides are so helpful (TAKE NOTES). Exams are easy if you study, and she gives a ton of extra credit each term. She has an accent but can be understood.
I LOVE DR. YU! She is an amazing woman. She is a great teacher. <33333 her
Understanding her is very difficult and her constant lectures are such a bore. She fails to relate to the students and as a result no one appears to pay attention. She knows what she is talking about, and if you can get yourself to payattention AND understand her when she talks, you'll do well. That or just read the book...
Love Dr. Yu. Led me to love chemistry. Yes, she has an accent, but she always clarifies herself whenever students don't understand. Always available for extra help. Great teacher.
she's really nice and is a good teacher if you can manage to understand her. i failed almost all of her tests last term but still managed to get a B- so i love her :)
Dr. Yu is sooo nice! She is ridiuculously hard though and expects waaayyyy to much when she doesnt teach us anything... i can hardly understand her .. wicked nice though
Shes nice but not the best teacher. I had to learn everything by myself cuz I cant understand a word she says and just lectures all the time. Wicked hard tests.
I love DR. YU and she really tries to help her students learn. However, chem was hard enough without trying to decipher her english...
She seems like a really great lady and is generous with grades, but she doesn't really teach and expects you to know most of it.
She's a really sweet woman, but not a very good teacher. I had a hard time understanding her, and found it hard to ask her for help.
