i was really scared for mr. drattel's class, because i'd heard such awful things about him, but he turned out to be my favorite english teacher in the high school. he gives interesting assignments and he's actually really funny, in a dry sort of way. i worked incredibly hard in his class and ended up with a really high average. people who say it's impossible to do well in his class are full of it, and probably just don't feel like putting in the work required to do well. he's a good guy.
The man has been absent since October, and on his first day back he gives a homework project that takes 1.5 hours to complete. I used to enjoy a good English class, but I'd rather count scuff marks on the ceiling tiles then sit in this class for 52 mins.
With all respect to those who had him before the 2004-05 school year, he has completely changed. For the year I had him and for this years sophomore's, he was never there, was completely dishevlled, we didn't do anything for months in his class, didn't know what our summer reading was, gave impossible and unclear assignemtns and tests. The prinicpal called him during our class to tell him to change his essay question becasue it was too hard. He's really losing it and needs to be let go or put on paid leave.
I had him in '88-'89.He's a rigorous academic who cares deeply about the subject matter. He understands unlike most teachers that you must break a sweat to achieve something. He is a hard grader, but fair. The lower GPA probably reflects your true level of scholarship more accurately anyway. He is one of the few people you will ever meet who tries to lift you out of the intellectual mediocrity in which most people will always wallow. If you are interested in literature, and write decently, thank him for that!
Drattel often just doesnt show up to class but then tests you on what he was supposed to teach you while he was gone.
i didnt get into honors probly because i had him, but hes a good teacher, and better than any english teacher ive had at mhs
I thought Drattel was an okay teacher, i respect him though for not succumbing to grade inflation, but it still sucks when he brings down your average.
Mr Drattel is a good guy and his class was fun for the most part, if you dont do your work you will do poorly though
How can you learn from a man who eats his own lip blisters?
He's a good teacher, but his tests are way too hard!
chill out. he's not so bad, but he's a rather biased grader. do your work.
His class is a royal pain, no question there. However, at the end of the year look back and see that you learned more than in any other english class to date.
His tests aren't impossible, and though you have to work hard in his class, I've learned a lot from him.
I'm on his good side but one slip and your grade goes down the tube
Very difficult class, but I've learned more this year than I have in any other English class.
