Switch out if you have her for english. She's not qualified at all, treats the student she doesn't like really rudely, choses favorites, and grades your work based on how much she likes you. her default grade is a B and the only way to bring your grade up in on the impossible reading comprehension quizzes. good luck. she teaches the class like a college course and doesn't understand how long homework she assignes each night takes (1-3 hours). :( avoid
She's OK. She is, deep down, a very nice person. Her Shakespeare shows are what makes the BHS drama society great. However, as teacher and as a person, she has a lot of work to do in being an understanding person and providing an adequate environment that students feel safe in.
Knows shakespeare well. She is rude to shy students and make fun of any question she thinks she answered when in reality she is very unclear. She gave us 120 pages of reading last night. Her students are noticeably more studious but also noticeably more unhappy. Students have proven her wrong about books and she has refused to listen and continuously argued her pathetic point until her students give up on the argument. Have a 4.0 in all honors and advanced classes except for her.
every single thing about her and her class actually makes me sick and i am actually baffled as to why she has not yet been fired because surely students have complained.
Wow! I can't beleive she still teach. I was in her class in 1996/1997. She was crazy and seem to sterotype
Chooses favorites and is extremely biased. Extremely unclear and unknowledgeable. I have never had an English teacher as terrible as her. Comes extremely late to class and does not care about her students learning. If she disagrees with something in your paper, she will find a way to grade you down. The students who get As in her class are her favorite students who kiss up to her, not students who deserve As. Absolute worst teacher ever.
If you mesh with Mary, as I did, she's an amazingly rewarding teacher. I've grown as a performer and have a new love for Shakespeare that I didn't have prior to working with her. That being said if you don't mesh with her she's difficult and class can be a miserable experience.
Oh MARY! Your presence is indescribable, and when you give cake to people it is as if you are descending from heaven into my heart.
Mary is an awful teacher at that. She plays favorites, that is she loves anyone who spends all their free time watching shakespeare. Very few people actually did well in her class, whether she likes you or not shows directly in your grade. Good luck.
Not helpful, not organized. Can be either really nice too you or really mean. Plays favorites.
Ms. Mastandrea is an awful English teacher. She often makes pathetic references to Shakespeare, and forces us to act at times. She forced us to attend a play she directed, on which we had to write an essay. Mary is 15 minutes late to class every day, isn't open minded at all, and has extremely prudent favorites. We cannot talk AT ALL in class, and if she catches us, we may only respond with "sorry, Mary". Out of about 25 students, only 3 got A's, yet I've gotten A's in English for 3 years now.
Just to set things straight, this rate is for her English class, not drama. As a teacher, she isn't that good. She ends up being one of those teachers that doesn't get much done in class, and then tests you on things she didn't go over. Her homework will take its toll pretty quickly. She has a habit of assigning homework that takes her 5 minutes to prep and will take you an hour or more to do. If you can handle her favoritism and rudeness, you can put up with the class. But if not...
mary is an awful teacher. she is rude, dismissive and if you express your own discomfort, she will hold it against you. she choses favorites and does not censor herself at all. she will make you hate drama. she never gives you a chance to stand up for yourself, if she yells at you, and you try to defend yourself, she literally talks over you until you have been shut down and I think you can take that to describe her outlook on life.
Mary is a very rude teacher. She has the knowledge in what to teach but is very bad a delivering it. As a director she is a bit of a force and in her shows and classes it is either her way or the highway with absolutly no room for compromise.
Mary is a sweet-heart. She cares a lot about her shows, and it shows. I wouldn't want any other teacher.
Mary is a wonderful teacher and director. I have only known her a couple of years, but i have grown accustomed to her. She has character, which is what i like about her. Not afraid of opinion, though she could be more open-minded. She puts full devotion into her work, and you can tell she cares a lot about her students and the drama society in Bhs.
sooo she's okay but she always says she'll bring in cookies and doesn't and then yells at us when we're not responsible....and also she starts class way too early and then gives you a tardy even if you were on time..... she's dumb but her class is fun
Oh yes she is strict, but we learn from her like we would never learn with anyone else. She is positive and happy and she is an amazing teacher. I love drama because of her.
Mary is my favorite teacher of all times. Although she has to maintain a high status, she loves becoming friends with her students. She treats them with the same respect they give her.
She shattered all of my self confidence. She made me feel talentless, unintelligent, and worthless. I voiced my opinions, and as a result, she broke me.
Mary is great if you are on her good side. Never attempt to steal her high status and NEVER complain. You will not be casted again. Don't even complain about being exhuasted!!!!!!
so one day dude i just hafft tah tellz u guyz wut happund. So i walked into class and sat down in drama and then i took out my protractor dude and she took it from me and shove it in sum kids backpack she sed i would have to get frough her to get i said i didnt no wut she ment so i try adn get it but she blocked me and i sed stopit duu and she said no
She needs my advice because she doesn't seem to understand that a failure to reflect on one's own faults is not a valuable quality to have but instead is a tragic flaw. It is easy to see that she has lived a life where she has never needed to question herself so I suggest she picks up that skill very soon because otherwise she will **** alone and never understand why. There are times where she seems to get it but she quickly strikes down that momentary lapse of character and spirals into the vile person sh
A legitimate sociopath during her English class especially regarding homework, she will stack essays and expect her students to have them completed to her inhuman standards for the next day
bitter, alone, never made it as an acttress, teaches acting at a high school, get over your own deep insecurity and just teach kids how to be actors...
mary is just mary. I have no other way of describing her
Never on time, and although class could be funny, she rarely taught us anything at all.
Good teacher but can be bias against students she does not like. not very tolerent. if you have spoken in class, she will always blame you for the rest of the year. but overall not bad at all :)
People who wrote positive things about her had her for a drama teacher, not an english teacher. ALthough I've never had her as a drama teacher, everyone says she's pretty good. As an english teacher, she is by far the worst I've ever had. Late to class, extremely critical, and unforgiving with deadlines, she bad bad bad. Her senior paper requirements are so unreasonable, if you can't come up with one, she'll give you a thesis and lay it out herself. That's how half of my class graduated. Switch out or drown
AHMAZING teacher/director... and chef. Shakespeare would be proud
shes a good drama teacher, but shes always late for class or doesnt show up at all
She's a great teacher, and her notes are helpful. If you do a show with her prepare to work long hours, but it all pays off because the final product is great.
mary makes things fun and exciting class is never boring
Mary, if you're reading this, i still owe you chocolate/brownies. guess who
i love this woman...such a good drama teacher; you'll have so much fun...
Once you get to know Mary, she'll always be your pal!
Mary, I love ur classes. You have the best activities and make it a lot of fun. Your very nice and kind. Keep it up!
Uses words like "groovy" and "ew" which is *groovy*. unlike sara she's not looking for dramatic, she's looking for entertaining which is so much better :-)
Mary, you are a good director and stuff but need to be more considerate and less offensive, think about it once in a while, think about others
its called allowing your studewnts to voice their opinion. your not always right.
She picks favorites which is really obvious in class. She comes late every day but yells at us when we're late.
mary youre pretty ill, but you do need to take some kind of medication. i still love you though.
yeah mary!! for sure she has some, isuues but shes still cool :)
Mary, CHILL OUT!!!!!! Stop picking favorites and don't be so dramatic in your plays! Besides that, you're coo
I love Mary! She is a great director & person. She recognizes who is talented and who is untalented.
She might pick favorites, but I believe that she is a good director and works really hard for the students and cares about them as well
everyone knows that once you are on mary's bad side, you stay there. picks favorites like you wouldnt believe, is she still in the 7th grade? amazing director.
The ULTIMATE drama queen teacher. Be her vassal, and she treats you well. Don't get on her bad side.
