Perhaps the most knowledgeable man I've ever met. Certainly the best teacher I've ever had, and this is coming from a student who didn't really develop a closeness with him. Credit is given where it's due, and this guy KNOWS his stuff, and then some. With his knowledge and ability to articulate, he could easily have a better position. He teaches you to think and argue, and actually makes the material interesting and shows us why it's relevant to us.
His WPT class is the bomb.
Matthew Polazzo is a teacher who is knowledgeable, but can't bond with his students.
Matt Polazzo, god he is a cool teacher. I had him for Western Political Thought, and he was probably the deciding factor in it being my favorite class at Stuyvesant. Smart, funny, a tad distract-able but able to keep enough on track to finish the material on time. He's also fair, and his work was never very hard (although you get more out of the class if you keep with the readings, which requires some commitment). All in all, a very solid teacher, and I hope they treat him well in the future.
With startling erudition and a beard full of sagacity, Polazzo is the most scholarly teacher at Stuyvesant. Western Political Thought is a wonderful class, although with the occasional hurried and careless exegesis. Unfortunately Polazzo bonds most easily with the most outspoken students and lacks the avuncular-pedagogical initiative of approaching the shier ones. He is a superb teacher, an intellectual, a philosopher, — but — at times it is hard to tell — a human, too?
A new species of philosopher is appearing: I venture to baptize these philosophers with a name not without danger in it. As I divine them, as they let themselves be divined -- for it pertains to their nature to want to remain a riddle in some respects -- these philosophers of the future might rightly, but perhaps also wrongly, be described as attempters. This name itself is in the end only an attempt and, if you will, a temptation.
Stuy's most diversely knowledgeable teacher. Trains you to think and argue, but slips in values here and there. Wise, hilarious, genius. Relates to students as peers. Take anything he teaches.
Polazzo is one of the coolest teachers at Stuy. I was in his AP Comp Gov class and it was very relaxing. We didn't have much work, but he still taught us a great deal of information. He knows literally everything about government and current events. Lessons can get off track multiple times, but well worth it.
One of the very best teachers in Stuyvesant. AP Gov with him was, without a doubt, the best (and most informative) of the social studies classes I have taken in my 4 years in the school. Mr. Polazzo i
Mr. Polazzo is simply, the man. I learned alot from his class without having an overwhelming amount of homework. Tests are challenging but not impossible. Hilarious, ask for his impressions :) Overall
Really a great teacher. He knows what he's talking about and he loves his job. I learned a whole lot from him.
amazing stories and tangents and still manages to get the lesson off in the last 5 minutes. homework is time-consuming, but thought-provoking. tests are mostly straightforward. good man. ap gov was on
Work is tough at times, grade doesn't come easy for sure. But he's an AMAZING teacher (one of the rare ones that teach because they love doing it) and someone who really deserves all the immense amoun
I've never had a class where I'm made to think so deeply. Really try and take Western Political Thought
generally overrated, but still very interesting and funny
A great teacher. Such a fun and interesting class. Prepares you soooooo well for the AP. Got a 5 on both.
Fantastic. A real genius, hilarious, overall great guy. One of top 3 teachers. Teaches you how to take notes by listening.
An incredible expierience that i would not replace with anoything else. Polazzo is intelligent & incredibly fun. He has a fantastic interest in his class and students and has inspired me to go intogov
Polazzo is the man! Cool, funny, but still teaches in an extremely interesting manner. We also kept up with current events so you feel knowledgeable about the stuff around you. Try to get him!
Mr. Polazzo is a great teacher and is class is incredibley fun. You will learn alot- guarenteed.
My favorite teacher in Stuy. His class was not necesarily easy, but he made me want to work, so i would have something to say in class. He made me care about AP GOV. He also tells the best stories
Great teacher. Very hip teacher. Fell asleep alot during his class (not his fault - i sleep late), i still learned a lot. Easy going and random at times. But funny! Need to know your stuff for tests.
Best teacher in the history dept, gets you the information you need and makes class fun. one of the few times i didn't mind having 10th period
Dr. Matthew Polazzo is a teenager's teacher. Chill, funny, serious. Tests are like the AP, 5 is guaranteed. Class was fun and memorable, we read the Economist and learned so much in a year. We own NYC
Mr. Polazzo is great! I had him for AP Comparative Government, thanks to him I got a 5 on the test, and at the same time learned a ton of information that stuck with me long after the course. He rules
he's okay but only if you HATE guns, people from the south, and republicans in general.
His classes: fair grading, thought-provoking discussion questions, hw-abundant but never tedious, lecture and discussion balanced well, tests relevant to covered material. Any one of his classes'll be valuable & interesting.
way too much homework, bad teacher but really interesting class discussions- most of which are tangents
Mr. Polazzo is amazing. Hard AP US Gov, but well worth it. Comp Gov is much easier, but also very educational, if you put in the work. Don't take for ez APs.
it aint a free-ride, but u'll leave the class 50000 times more inteligent then you were when you went in....
he's a very hard teacher for ap us history, but really cool and FUNNY. he's so smart and he's sure eyecandy. ;)
Polazzo is the man! More props because he's also a great COSA!
