Mrs. Bjerke was my favorite teacher in high school and she inspired me to major in English in college. She was the one who made me realize that I could write, and that I should consider writing for a living. She was funny, whip-smart and inspiring. I was lucky enough to have had her in 10th and then again in 12th grade. Both classes were great....a fantastic mix of fun and learning and I hold onto wonderful memories of her and of those times.
My husband and I were packing to move and I found my English Portfolio. My portfolio and my yearbook are the only two things I kept from high school. If you had Mrs. Bjerke for Honors English, you have to remember our portfolios. I loved re-reading my book and couldn't believe how much quality work I created. I hope my daughter has a chance to create a book like this when she is in high school. But, I don't think there are many teachers who work as hard as Mrs. Bjerke.
She was very witty and very smart. But, her class was harder than other classes. We learned more, but we had to work harder to earn good grades.
I'm sorry Mrs. Bjerke retired. It's a good thing I had Mrs. Bjerke in 11th grade to prepare me for college. I didn't learn a thing from my 12th grade teacher.
Mrs. Bjerke is smarter than most of my college professors. I learned more in 11th grade English than in all my other English classes combined.
Mrs. Bjerke, i don't know what there is to say but she was probably at the time that i had her, the bane of my very existence, but now that i look back she really was an amazing teacher, yes she does come off as a bit condescending at times, but she really does try to bring out the best writers in all of her students (scholars), and she is definitely one of the best teachers at lindenhurst high school
I LOVE MRS. BJERKE. best teacher i had in high school... all that i learned in her class is helping me now in college.
I had the pleasure of being a student in Mrs. Bjerke's class many years ago. What an intelligent and insightful woman...great at the classics!!
Mrs.B rules. I was a nonathlete who didn't try, but was bright. She saw through my laziness to the smart kid i was. Had her in 9th and 12th. Gr8 teacher!
Mrs. Bjerke is one of the last few great teachers remaining at Lindenhurst High School. You all should take advantadge of all the knowledge she has to share.
Mrs. Bjerke is an eloquent teacher. She taught me so many lessons that I now teach to my students. Thanks!
I love Mrs. Bjerke. Trying to switch out of her class was my biggest mistake all year. If you're not smart enough to appreciate her... that's a shame.
Mrs. Bjerke is an extremely dedicated teacher/mentor and one of the smartest people I know. I learned so much from her and am lucky to have had her this year.
I had Mrs. Bjerke about 20 years ago and loved her attitude and felt that she was completely intelligent.
Although good at teaching , she makes snap judgements about a person's character ... and if your not an athlete, there's immediate points against you there.
Even though your class is difficult, the level of hard-work given prepares us (the students) for college and further. Thank you!
bjerke sees in black and white only..theres no gray in her..once she labels you, your done.
