I had Mr. Gabrielson for four years of Latin. He's a highly intelligent teacher with an eclectic but engaging teaching style. A non-trivial portion of students who take Latin I drop the class, but those that remain overwhelming characterize their experience as enjoyable and worthwhile. Students who take Latin gain a strong command of Roman history, mythology, Latin grammar, and Latin grammar and word roots. Yes, there are times that his class can become difficult, but it'll be remembered fondly.
Mr. Gabrielson is great, he teaches everything with a great method and easy to understand. its not easy but class with him is great when he gets sidetracked its not about stupid stuff, its about relevant topics and always has something interesting to say. You can't wing the class, if you pay attention then thats the only way to ace the class.
People have talked about favoritism and its not completely true. I managed to go a full year with him without him remembering my name, yet not hating me. I'm not Harvard-bound. You have to work hard, but I think its worth it. When he goes off topic its interesting. Don't be lazy.Dont just take it to get out f spanish. You will never get 100% on a test.
Okay teacher. He is very knowledgeable about his topics but if your not a favorite student (maintain a 4.0 in all AP or Honors level courses) forget about it. If you don't get the material instantaneously your screwed. Levels 1 & 2 are fine but by 3 or 4 your a goner if your not capable of teaching yourself. We watched tons of movies throughout levels 1-4 but he can be unreasonable....he made a classmate cry during the midterm because he accused her of plagiarism right before she took it.
Best teacher in WHS.. His class is so much fun, but he does get sidetracked alot
Mr. Gabrielson is a nice man, but very old school. He has outlandish expectations. It is ridiculous for him to say thing like, "We will do structured preparation for this test, and every day get done what we need to do," follow it for that day, and then forget about it. Very frustrating, as you wind up needing to do almost all of the work yourself, since he is always too busy showing Thor, talking about how he "was casually reading The Illiad last night," or talking about debate.
I was sitting in class when someone asked, "what's the tense of Erat?" Mr. Gabrielson turned around, rage fuming from his clenched teeth. He hurled the nearest dictionary at a student. He died.
Mr. Gabrielson is an excellent teacher. He tends to get sidetracked quite frequently but it's with controversial topics that we discuss as a class; he is a very intelligent man with a lot to teach.
A student asked "what's the tense of erat?" Mr. Gabrielson turned around slowly, rage fuming from his clenched teeth. Then he grabbed the nearest dictionary and hurled it at the pupil. He died.
Very clearly has favorites in his classes. Does not help you as much as he says he does, gets off topic a lot and expects more than humanly possible on some quizzes and tests
Great teacher but gets carried away really easily. He can start a lesson talking about Latin and end talking about something really far off topic.
Mr. Gabrielson is the coolest most awesome teacher in the whole school. Great teacher and he's the man!
the class can really hard but he makes it incredibly fun. we somehow made it through 20 chapters of cambridge latin last year even when we would spend days at a time just talking about random stuff. h
Knows his stuff, but he hardly ever teaches it. Talks about random stuff most classes, teaches hard concepts with little explanation, and then tests us on stuff we learned the day before without much
Mr. Gabrielson is a very effective teacher, teaching his subject Latin with much enthusiasm, he is all in all a great teacher.
The best class I've ever been in, the best teacher I've ever had. He's the only useful teacher in WHS. He's not sick and tired of teaching like every other teacher, he's sensible, fun, and smart.
Mr. Gabrielson is the man, his classes get harder the higher up in Latin you go, but that is 2 be expected, nice guy, good teacher.
Tends to go on long tirades and constantly goes off topic, but is very interesting and intelligent
Very intelligent man in more ways than one, especially concerning latin.
Mr. G is the man....and i regret challenging his intelligence by claiming to not know the homework...really nice guy
Cool, but sometimes seems only to care about filling his Greek class with Latin recruits.
Mr. Gabrielson is one of the nicest and ultimate teachers at WHS. Babysitting his kids and getting to know his family has been a huge blessing to me. He has also helped me get through this year.
I took his class to avoid the school's french program. THANK GOD I DID!! HE IS THE BEST TEACHER I EVER HAD, and i ALWAYS feel better after going to latin. YEAH MAX GABIELSON! His class isn't that hard
What other teacher will read you every word in the dictionary that starts with "fish"
Not only does he help us to understand to topic at hand, but he is also fun and very interesting to be taught by.
Mr.G is the best teacher you could ever have. He's really cool, funny, and loves latin. He's always willing to help you too. Although the class is hard he makes full of fun.
Mr. G is awesome. He really loves to teach and made me love the Classics so I take Latin and Greek. Though the work load is enormous it is understandable.
Mr. G rocks my socks. So we don't stay on topic, but the disscussions were always very interesting and informative.
I've really enjoyed his class, whether or not it is hard it is very interested and Mr. G is clearly really passionate about teaching, best teacher ive ever had.
Mr. G is such a great teacher. Latin is hard but I really enjoy it. In fact, it's my favorite class!!! Mr. G makes it interesting and fun.
Mr.Gabrielson is a very interesting teacher and goes on some of the strangest tangents. He is one of the most devoted teachers I know.
Mr. G. is definately one of the best teachers I have. He makes latin an artform rather than just memorization. He does give a little too much work though.
I've never met anyone who loved their job more than mr. g. and he's makes a hard and boring subject interesting.
Mr. Gabrielson is a hard teacher, but he also brings fun to the class. This is a combination that not a lot of teachers can achieve.
Though Latin is hard, Mr. G tries to make it cool. He expects a lot out of you, but if you work at it, and ask for help, he's willing to do so. Great teacher.
G DIDDY! haha hes cool and LOVES latin, but the class is hard (gets hard quick)
i like mr. g but i don't love latin. i think it's cool that he loves what he does though. he can really make you like what you're doing.
mr. gabrielson is the coolest teacher. probably my favorite. i think his rants in class are the best. i would never drop his class.
whats this the max bashers? hes a cool guy, at least he likes what he teaches, and is very willing to help ya out
