I put absolutely zero effort into this class and in hindsight was probably very difficult to work with; yet by some miracle Mr. Mehls engaged me along with everyone else in the class. Mr. Mehls is not only brilliant and creative, he cares about his students and really tries to help them individually without using shame or embarrassment tactics. Best teacher I've ever had, and Chemistry was my least favorite subject!
Mr. Mehls is the best teacher at Homestead in my opinion. He has caused me to love chemistry. If you ever need help he is there even if you need to stay until 4:30pm to go over stuff. I enjoyed all the labs and class activities. He is extremely goofy and funny. Skootskie, Moolskie!! I will always remember how gas particles move, "they move in straight lines until they collide with another one or the surface inside." Best teacher ever!! I know love chemistry!!!!
hilarious, really weird, but not that great at actually teaching. expects you to understand after 1 example and worksheets every night. it gets better over the year.
He adds amusement to the class with his shenanigans, giving students the boost they need to get through the difficult class.
Falling asleep in his class aside, I think Mr. Mehls is a fantastic teacher. While the lectures get boring at times, the fact that one can tell he loves chemistry so much is inspiring.
Mehls is a cool guy. His songs are kinda wierd...ours were better : ) Yeah, Shootskies! Study for organic chem test and participate and you'll get through it.
I loved him first semester, but after that his zany and fun character couldn't recover his lack of ease. He stopped explaining chemistry and was an unfair gradr
Very good at chemistry, he even writes and prints songs to help remember material
He is very close to insanity but far from being not cool. If you get him going he could talk all day about chemistry. Also he speaks acouple languages.
Shows he is clearly dedicated to chemistry and helping students learn. A little off kilter...but a good teacher
Different... sometimes for the better, often for the worse. It would be nice if he'd explain the calculations more clearly.
