One of the dumbest teachers at the high school. There are many people that will kiss his rear end. But after four years of dealing with him I can definitely say that was a waste of time. He wastes more time making weight jokes instead of teaching, while he is as large as a killer whale.

One of the most immature teachers I have even had. He makes racist jokes, fails to understand personal difficulties, and taunts students. I once saw him try to fail a girl because she missed a day of summer band after having a seizure on the field. He cares a lot, but not in the right ways-- like about allowing students to enjoy and grow in musical ability.

While at James A. Garfield, Mike Kelly arrived early every day to teach me to play my tuba. His commitment and passion for teaching music make him the gold standard for and High School Band director.

He's a bit immature, but you have to know how to take him. If you take everything he says to you seriously, you're not going to like him.

Plays favorites! Chooses lead instrumentalists based on family or favorites rather than musical ability. I cannot call him a musician...he can read music well, but his ear for music is not so good.
