One of the smartest most passionate people about history. We were the last class to have him (class of 2016) and while he was passionate, lectures were boring and he struck fear into everyone in the class.
I had him in '81/82 - I think he was pretty new to Penncrest. He was very knowledgeable and had a true passion for history (to a degree I have not encountered in any other history teacher, including professors the university level) - that was clear. On the negative side, he relied on intimidation to control his class and was a dour and humorless lecturer.
Civil war an American Idol
Ludwig is one of the best teachers I ever had and I learn a lot in his class and I like his teaching method. He's got 3 major flaws though. One he doesn't know what hes talking about in current events (for example he thinks Obamas a top 5 president when he's one of the worst ever) 2 he's a psyco nutcase and 3 he picks favorites and mistreats students he doesn't like
I loved this class. I learned a lot and not just history. I learned to take school seriously and preserver through everything. He's strict but he's a great guy. He's nonjudgmental. Favorite class I ever had, I probably learned the same amount of content from my other classes as i did in his 1 semester course.
Overheard him make a nasty joke about Jews once. Mean spirited guy. Likes to intimidate students. Would recommend people steer clear.
Mr. Ludwig is a cool guy.. he really is a great teacher.. Until he slaps you and chokes you! this mans syko he hates me just cause im black and discrimates against my race. he should get fired!!
best teacher ive ever had. love him to death. interesting, nice, and easy to talk to.
he's nuts. great guy too, had him as a baseball coach and I have learned a lot about being a man from him.
He's the best, enough said. There isn't anything under his topic he doesn't know, and he really cares about all of his students. Anyone who thinks otherwise just flat-out doesn't like him.
Mean spirited. Does not like non white students. Discriminates them.
You will deffinately learn how to memorize in his class. It is something that you have to do. His stories are always entertaining.
He's definately a good man with many rough edges. I think that he emphasizes memorization and old methods of learning too much and domineers his class instead of just teaching it.
You have to respect the guy, He knows so much stuff about history it's crazy. He way of teaching is good, but the way he test's your knowledge is just memorization. love his class though.
I won't say that I learned much. He's a good guy but he's too rooted in old methods. He tries to (and often does) intimidate his students. Don't get on his bad side. Memorize to the extreme.
He is a teacher that will have you learn everything but it's all memorized not actual thought but you do learn. he is a very up-tight fellow aswell.
absolute best teacher i've ever had. i cannot even describe how much i've learned in his class. most amazing teacher ever
One of the most pompous teachers I ever had. Abusive. Favored his pets/football players. Didn't teach -- presented facts to memorize.
he is the best teacher. He needs to lighten up a little but other than that i have learned more in his class in one marking period thena ll my other classes combined and i love going to his class and
he's basically the best teacher i've ever had because i never stop learning things from him, and its so nice to learn in a place where the kids arent going wild
Ludwig is the man, truly cares about his pupils/athletes. I was blessed to have him as a coach and a teacher, and will always remember my experiences with my favorite teacher of all-time.
Mr. Ludwig is just the best... No questions asked...
Had in back in the 90s. He favord certain students unfairly. Picked on others. Thought teaching equated with memorizing facts. Poor.
Mr. Ludwig is an amazing teacher. His class is not too difficult, you just have to memorize nearly word for word the notes you copy. He knows his stuff, and you will learn alot from this guy.
needs to open up and stop being afraid of being wrong; also extremely long winded; however, clearly passionate about his subject
Hes the best teacher you will ever have, youll learn so much from just listening to him, but dont get on his bad side!
pure memorization. great in-class, on-topic stories. lol, it's been 2 years and i still fear/respect him. one of the best teachers in the building.
He really loves teaching, and it shows. And yet, he has such an antiquated "memorize dates and names of Presidents" approach. Ultimately not enough...
Brilliant guy, extremely interesting to listen to. Doesn't show his sense of humor often enough
Mr. Ludwig is one of the best teachers ever. He likes the gory stuff which kinda grosses me out, but he's amazing and teaches a bunch!
the best baseball coach i've ever played for in my life
Mr. Ludwig is great at teaching. If only we went on field trips....I Love USH. Can't wait until the Civil War!
Ya love him and hate him at the same time. In retrospect though it was all a good time.
taught discipline... i was there to learn history. i did learn how to memorize mass amounts of information though. too scary for tiny freshmen.
Rock solid teacher - had him in 83-84 (class of 87); visited Quebec City this year and remembered his lecture on Plains of Abraham
No one is more passionate about what they do, uses a very effective unique teaching style
Mr.Ludwig is one of my fav teachers this yr. he teaches great, it really sticks, never studied so much for one class though..
then I took AP US History and learned just how little Ludwig teaches in such a long time
You could just listen to ludwig talk for hours, he's so interesting and knowlegeable
studied like the devil for this class, but learned a heck of a lot more than any other class. we love ludwig!
Good guy, VERY strict, but you learn a lot from him. Just pay attention, STUDY, and don't put your feet up on the rack beneath the seats and you're fine.
strict but he is a really great man and very intellegent.
