he was really nice but also an extremely hard grader. So sad he left
Mr. Mayer is easily one of the best teachers I've ever had. Not only was it a great class academically, but he really cares about all his students and will take the time to get to know you. Amazing.
Mr. Mayer is the best teacher you could ever have. He unlocked my creative mind and helped my analytical thinking. Every analytical essay I write now is at the very least a B. I loved him as a teacher
if you have Mr. Mayer, get ready to see some lower grades than you've seen in the past, also get ready to learn more about life, language and the pursuit of happiness than in any class before
You learn ALOT in his class.... but he's a hard teacher
You will learn more from Mr. Mayer than from any other teacher. In your life. Ever. That makes up for the average grade you're likely going to get.
Sometimes he draws things out too far, but he loves it so you just have to be patient because if you pay attention he can make things really interesting, like more than you ever expected them to be.
He makes everything come together like an isosceles triangle...i connect with him and i think a lot of other students do too. he does love symbols, but he's good with essay questions and such.
He definitely taught be a lot and my writing improved. But, he wasn't always nice to me and never gave me a grade higher than a B+ even after talking w/ him. He favors students, mostly girls.
He's okay... He's really hard and makes you over-analyze everything.
Mayer is my all time favorite hands down. He's taught me a whole new writing style and a new way of reading all literature, and he has a great personality. You work hard but it's totally worth it.
My son had Mr. Mayer for 2 yrs. in a row. He was challenging, but improved my son's writing dramatically. No grade inflation here but the lower grades were offset by the learning - a fair trade.
ilove mayer!hes helped me im my life so much. he goes a little too far into books but thats his life soo. the books are good but classes can be a tad boring...u have to b creative, cant be ordinary..
good teacher, he definately makes you work hard but he's really helpful and nice
good but hard teacher, gives a lot of work but he really improves your writing
overall a good teacher, but i've never received above an A- from him. also the curriculum sucks. i suppose you have to work with what you're given though. i don't think he's sad.
Yes he may be one of the hardest english teachers at LS, but also by far the best. At first I thought he was unfair, but he is hilarious and fair if you speak with him about grades
Mr. Mayer rocks. He relates to the students so well and you have a really good time in his class. he is really hard though. I never got higher than a B+ for the whole year.
really nice guy, but his teaching style is tough to adapt to. It's hard to get full credit on questions unless you know exactly what he's trying to get at.
he is one of the nicest teachers i have ever had, he gave us valentines and he wrote a letter saying nice things about each person in the class. great sense of humor.
WO! Mr. Mayer rocks. And he loves the Beatles! He grades really hard, but that's a good preperation for college.
Mr. Mayer is AWESOME! He's passionate about English and he's really funny. He tends to talk a lot so you can space out and jump in when you want to. Toughish.
Mr. Mayer is a nice man, but there is no such thing as an "A" in his class.
The coolest english teacher i've ever had. he's one of a kind. i've learned so much from him. don't underestimate mr. mayer! i was in his AMLIT--interesting boo
Least helpfull teacher I have had so far.
Clases are very boring.
Never helps, gives B's or below.
I LOOOOVE Mr. Mayer!! He's a super teacher and he gives really good information. He knows his stuff and he even gave us valentines :)
SUCH A NICE GUY. He is incredibly funny and very understanding. Hes a great guy. Try talking to him sometime.
He is the hardest grader I have ever had. He's class is boring and the books you read are so depressing. He also doesn't give us any studying materials.
A good teacher if you share his sardonic sense of humor. Very hard grader but not unfair.
hes cool and nice, but his grading is equal to that of graduate scool teacher
Bleh. He did nothing to encourage a love of literature. I guess he taught us, but his class wasn't great. Don't celebrate.
Pros: Very nice person, knows what he is talking, taught me a lot Cons: His classes tend to be long and boring. He also is a very tough grader and I belive some of his grades are somewhat unfair.
