I had Mr O'Neill for Latin and Spanish and he's an amazing teacher. Some dont like him bc he has very high expectations but that's only because he values our education and believes we are intelligent. As long as you're responsible, respectful, and do what you're supposed to be doing, you will like him. He's only hard on some students because he wants us all to do extremely well in life. Gotta admit, he's taught me more history of the world (as well as languages and skills) than any other teacher
hes so rude and disgusting & doesnt know how to act around children . He thinks of himself as everyone's parent & treats them with disrespect. He puts students down and tries to make them feel bad about themselves. He's simply a terrible teacher.
O'Neill may know a lot about Latin but the material on his exams is 95% not-latin. There are a bunch of vocab words, and cultural things which tbh have nothing to do with latin. I really dont understand why there even is a Latin and why its even mandatory for humanities students to take tbvh. The class taught me nothing and I had a horrible time sitting there for 45 minutes every day for 10 months
While many students hate him because his tests are so hard, he's really caring to his students (though he is a lot nicer to the girls than guys and has favorites) and is very knowledgeable. He has high expectations of everyone and gives a lot of lectures about success (whether you like that or not us up to you). YOU HAVE TO STUDY FOR HIS TESTS. But in all honesty, he'd make a better public speaker than a Latin teacher (some of his lectures are very empowering... some)
Mr.O'Neill is not an easy teacher, but if you enjoy learning new things, this shouldn't be a problem. Many teachers these days don't care about their students, and contribute nothing to our education. Mr.O'Neill cares about all of his students, and wants them to achieve greatness. He is a great teacher, and you would be lucky to have him.
this man is the living embodiment of sadism but a great teacher. prepare to write and be best friends with your textbook. makes you sit by the open windows during winter! overall someone you will hate in HS but appreciate later in life
Mr. O'Neill is a brilliant teacher. When he speaks, you actually want to listen. He's so intelligent and caring. It doesn't matter how hard he teaches because his work is SO useful. I learned to apply his studying techniques to all my other subjects and I received a 99 overall average. If it wasn't for him, my life would be in the dumps. I owe everything to him. Do what he says and I promise, you WILL succeed.
When I first had O'Neill, he was intimidating to me but you'll get used to him. Just be a responsible person as if you want to work for a high grade and come to his class on time. He is a very mature
Best teacher I've ever had in my life. Had him all four semesters from Soph to Jr years. Failed first semester, then got at least a 90 in each of the next three. If you put in the work and follow his
Come prepared into his class. Dont have things late. Dont lie to him and dont cut. Hes a teacher that really cares about his students. You will learn from him like from no other. hes the man!
mr. O'Neil made my rank drop 6 spots. He is a good teacher, but gave me a 90 ,and i deserved atleast a 94.
I have him right now and he is a fair teacher, hes such a good person and he cares about his students. Do what he tells you to do and you will recieve the grade you deserve. His class is pretty fun.
I was a little scared of Mr. O'Nell at first, but his class isn't really that difficult. Yes it involves a lot of studying, but if you do his quizzes and tests are easy. I respect him.
His class stresses you out too much. You will fail at least one of your other classes if you have this teacher because he will give you so much work you can't do your other homework.
Mr. O'Neill is a strict, serious, but potential teacher. He can very well teach, but it's a lot to remember. He emphasizes on grammar and personality. Not a generous grader at all.
Mr. O'Neill is most definitely one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. He cares deeply for his students and really wants each and every one of them to make the most ouf their education in here.
Great teacher. He doesn't lie - he's preparing you for college. You'd better get used to him. I'd like to see him teach something else though. What's the point of learning Latin?
really hard to please, picks on students, strict format gets in the way of learning, too much homework....expects 2 much; we are not superman you know.
i have him right now. i think he's one of the greatest teachers. he teaches lazy kids discipline and he's really funny. the class is pretty tough - but latin is hard in general. he's pretty awesome.=]
way 2 hard. i know he wants us to be better, but i dont like staying up late cuz of him =\
Very fun, very easy. He often jokes around with you.
great personality, caring, bad grader. i was supposed to get an 89 but he gave me an 80. i was his class secretary, note taker, and he said i lack class partcipation. now that makes no sense.
Mr. O'Neill is one of the greatest teachers I have ever had. Anyone who doesn't succeed in his class is just Too lazy. You kids need to grow up and start taking your classes seriously.
if you're too immature and lazy to work then you'll hate him, but if you appreciate a dedicated teacher and genuine person, you'll love him.
hes a really nice and funny guy. his class is always fun.
He has lost sight of his purpose as an educator which is to educate ALL of his students to the best of his abilities; not just those he deems worthy of learning Latin.
he is making the tests easier and easier. as a dean he is mean. not cool
he has high expectations and isn't satisfied until you've reached or excelled them because he knows you can do the work. just nvr give up and always be determined and you will do well in his class ;)
I was in Mr. O'Neill's class a long time ago. If you haven't realized it yet, you will eventually realize that he is one of the best teachers ever. He cares about his students and what you learn in his class you will take with you for your entire life.
He is an outstanding teacher. Though the work is very difficult and he can ease up a little on that, he is still very caring about what we make of ourselves and he is very wise. He deserves respect.
he is a great teacher and people should be glad that he cares about them so much. he pushes you hard so that you can succeed in life.
It may seem like a lot of work when you are a sophmore, but do the work, get on his good side and he'll give you a great rec for college. You'll respect him and see his ways work.
If you want private school education, hes the teacher. All you gotta do is develop your study habits and you'll get through like a breeze. His tests are real easy, if you study.
he totally hated me but i have to admit i learned a lot in his class and i respect him nonetheless. i learn a lot more latin in hanford's class but i learn everything else in o'neill's class.
Heavy workload, has favorites, but is a very respectable man. He is defnitely unique in the sense that hes the polar opposite of todays norm. I only got a 70 in the class but i respect him nonetheless
He was the greatest teacher I have ever had. I'm in my 2nd yr of college & I still have yet to have a teacher that has taught me more than him. Appreciate that while you have him!
I was in "murderer's row" in O'Neill's class in the mid-nineties. Ten years later, I'm a high school teacher myself. I went to a really good college, and I still never had a better teacher than Mr. O'Neill. He really teaches you to push yourself towards any goal.
i had recieved a 55 in his latin class and yet i learned more there than any college course im in now
great teacher! the way he teaches is amazing, sometimes maybe a little cray but thats what keeps the class interesting. He truly cares for his students
He is such a great teacher. Not only is he a brilliant man, but he has morals and isnt afraid to tell everyone about them. he stands up for what he believes in and i really respect that. he is a tought cookie....but he gets the best out of his students.
Demands the best and believes all of his students are capable. More than willing to help his students when they need it. Can be harsh at times. You'll learn a great deal, however.
He's a very hard teacher plainly because he is so demanding and I am so Lazy. I respect him a lot though. I just cant stop holding my HEAD. urg
Yes, you do learn a lot…but you are terrified the entire time. I don’t agree with his method of teaching, but I can’t help but respect him. Tendency to preach and pick favourites.
I had him in '94 and he was the best teacher I ever had. I hope I am half as good as he was! He was a lover of Latin, not a Latin lover.
I had Mr.O'Neill about five years ago. He gave a lot of work but you left his class really knowing the material. You can learn a lot from him. Great teacher.
I can't believe Mr. O'Neill is still at Midwood. I had him 13 years ago. He cares about his students and is passionate about his subject area. Vit Via Vi. Away is Made by Force.
works hard, cares about his students, too much work, thinks his class is the only one we've got, but overall a good teacher
A difficult teacher, but is more than willing to get his students help. Really cares about all of his students! The music gets old, though. I've heard Pachabel's Cannon 100 times!!
I love Mr.O'Neil. He is a great person inside and out. The only teacher with REAL morals. He expects a lot but thats because he thinks of us as his kids. awesome
i really like him. i look forward to his class in a way. he seems like a nice person, and everyone respects him, whether they admit it or not. too strict though
Mr.O'Neill is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He loves his job, and more importantly he loves his students. He just wants everyone to learn and succeed.
Outstanding personality, seems geninuinely caring and really wants to better his students. I liked him a lot. :-)
You know I actually enjoyed having him although he is a very hard teacher and grader he is really nice, helpful, and he cares alot about his students.
had him for researching methods 1-2 yrs ago. he know's his stuff, and makes class an ejoyable and unwasted 45 minutes. very nice guy.
I love Mr O'Neill. Very polite and treats you like an equal. Sometimes he can be intimidating, but even if you don't like him, you still have respect for him.
I went to Midwood from '88 to '92, and Mr. O'Neill was my homeroom teacher for half of that time. Excellent teacher, and the reason that I am a teacher today.
mr. o' neill is such a good teacher and is such a nice man. he really cares about his students and how they feel. i've learned so much from him.
We go so slow. We've been learning the same stuff since Dec 2003, and kids still dont know it in June 2004. Excellent teacher. You either love him or hate him.
Mr. O'Neill was the best teacher I've ever had. He is the reason I became a teacher. He truly cares about all of his students. I will never forget his class.
i like this dude. he really cares about his students and doesn't try to impose his views on others, just talk circles around them.O'Neill is sum1 ull never 4get
only teacher that u'll learn from. only teacher that cares bout his students. too much work
He's cool. Mad work and really strict but his class was fun. We always learned about everything, not just Latin.
many kids don't like him bcuz he hard,i love him, and I'm not his 90 student. hes into Latin, but thats not all, he teaches you about life, its more important.
PPL NEVER REALIZE THAT ITS B/C OF HIS INTIMIDATING WAYS OF TEACHING THAT MAKES KIDS REMEMBER THE STUFF...NOT B/C HE COULD ACTUALLY TEACH.....
he is the best! most students that dont like him are probably failing or not doing so well. he cares about everyone either way, epitome of a teacher.
Nobody puts as much efffort into their job as Mr. O'Neill. He is an amazing teacher and I wish he could teach me all my classes. He pushes everyone to do better
o'neill is a great teacher. except with all that religious extras
omg hes teaching juniros now! why must teh eveilness continue ? i had enough of him all of sommo. yr!!very very strict, but nice songs.
Evil man, does not recognize the separation of church and state. His teaching style is ineffective, abusive, and he is not understanding of the students' needs
i had him and now im stuck w/ a bunch of useless knowledge. he takes his class way 2 seriously. hes horrible, but he taught me how to work harder for my classes.
he's a good teacher that pushes you to your fullest potential and he won't gie up until you give 110%
good all around teacher...pushes us to reach our full stature as human beings and makes us achieve the true, good and beautiful.
hes sumtimes 2loud,2strict,& 2rushy when it comes to getting to class on time, But @ heart,i kno hes a really nice family man wit all the right intentions..
Is one of the best, is strict and intimidating, can make the class tough im not doing really well, but im learning alot he only has our best intrests at heart.
hes a bad teacher.. he doesnt really care about the students doing poorly and focuses on the top students. he thinks what he teaches is important too.. nonsense
he's a good teacher. my studying habits have improved thanks to him. learned a lot of vocab. and grammar. i don't like how he plays favorites though.
i love his class! seriously, its great. Scary man and intimidating but good teacher. ..the shepherd of the nerd herd..hmmm
