Ms. Scheierman is one of the most heartless teachers in Millburn High School. She is incredibly intolerant of everything that's not music and never gives kids a chance to fulfill their many interests in things like sports. She may seem nice on the outside, but she's just not a naturally nice human being. She lacks empathy and she lacks a positive demeanor to make students feel important. She has no doubt contributed to my growing hatred of this school and to our music department. Don't recommend
Ms. Scheierman, or "Scheierbeast", as a few of us like to call her, is one of the most manipulative, malevolent teachers in the entire high school. She clearly only cares about herself and keeping her job in our "lovely" music department. Analogous to a gorilla, you better stay away from her when she's angry or she'll unleash her wrath on you. It's a shame because she is very knowledgable in music, but decides to take pleasure in abusing these poor children. (500 characters is not enough for me)
I loved Mindy. She will be not only stay in my memory forever, she will be a life long friend. From 8th grade on i was able to build a relationship with her and I can honestly say she has partly shaped who I am today. Take time to get to know her, she's a crazy lady at times but that makes her more human (and a great counterpart to the bland mr. spatz). She was one of the best, if not the #1, teachers i had the pleasure of having at my stay in Millburn :)
Ms. Scheierman is a professional, extremely knowledgeable band director. Although usually very nice, chill, and has the potential to be VERY funny, she can occasionally become mean or manipulative. However, most of the time, she is a great band director and makes us sound way better than we ever could with anyone else. She does have favorites, but she rarely dislikes anyone. She is very tough love, but I appreciate being her student as she has helped me grow into a more professional musician.
She makes us sound good, and she's funny and nice sometimes. However, she can also manipulate you into doing things you don't want to do. While most teachers will get that you don't want to do something after a while, she just keeps pressuring you.
She's not that terrible, nice to percussion :D I don't see why people think she's strict. She just pretends to be strict to be funny.
I was a study of Ms. Scheierman's in 1987 - her first year out of college, and believe it or not, at first she was pleasant, accomodating, almost shy. That lasted about two months, and she changed, perhaps in order to survive working with teenagers, into the person you can read about below. She is moody, she can (appear) to play favorites, and she can embarrass people. But she does care about her students and music, and I can still remember how good she could make inexperienced kids sound on their instrumen
Whether you like her now or not, later in your life you will come to realize Ms. Scheierman was the best teacher you had in high school. Of course she can have bad days, everyone does. Of course she can be intimidating, but that's because she takes her job and more importantly, her students, very seriously and has the greatest respect for everyone in her classroom. Even though I worked hard at playing and just being a good ensemble member, we still had our scuffs, but it always comes from a good place. Ms.
Sounds to me like the lazy students don't like being pushed. You're all lucky to have someone with MS's background as your teacher. Work hard and get over it.
She does seem somewhat intimidating at first, but that's just because she takes her job very seriously. She's a really cool person and is really nice.
ok yes, she can be intimidating. however, she still does her job well and can also be very nice. i agree w/ the ppl who said she has gotten progressively nicer. my freshman year, she had way more of her "bad days." but now she seems to be haveing better/chill days, with an occasional bad one. but as a little freshman, boy was she scary.
Very easy A, but it's impossible to like this woman. She's polarizing, she's mean for no reason, and even though she's "trying harder" this year, you still know that she's just not a good person.
can be moody but has gotten exponentially nicer and funnier within the past year.
very scary. but she has gotten sooo much nicer since my freshman year. she's so chill now. one time she even took a good 10 mins of rehearsal to talk about her neices and she was all smiley and HUMAN. scary one-on-one but great conductor.
Mindy is not genuine. Her mood fluctuation is unpredictable. To be fair, Mindy is committed to her work but she needs to act more professional. She needs to be more supportive and less antagonistic.
She's very nice when not in one of her bad moods and recognizes (and applauds) my commitment to my instrument. Still very condescending-(no high school student needs an analogy/visual aid to understand what "rushing" means).
awful teacher, moody, plays favorites, arrogant, patronizing...what else can i say
very good band teacher, but EXTREMELY MOODY...makes us sound really good.
the only teacher i've ever had who's singled me out and yelled at me in front of the class for SMILING... knows her stuff, can be very nice, but needs to lighten up
really nice. can joke around, but be serious at the same time.
She may be a good teacher but she can be very, very mean... Loves the good kids hates everyone else... Beware on her bad days.
Love your pep band and concerts. Keep the music playing.
She is a really great teacher/conductor. We always sound good at concerts. i just wish she didn't seat with seniority as a prime factor...
let's face it. any teacher in the music department looks good in this school. the devotion comes from the individual students.
she can be really really reallly mean sometimes, but she also can be really really really really nice.... overall, shes a fun person!!!
obviously some of you don't get it. she expects a lot of us and is awesome as a band teacher. helped me so much with college stuff.
Ayou kidding me? She's incredibly moody, picks on random students, and is a terrible conductor.
she's the best. always generous and will help any one of us.
Mood swings are unbearable...what's with the picking on random band students each day?
are you nuts? she picks the best music and we sound great at concerts. i do agree- great teacher! wanting us to excel is not being moody.
Great teacher, but can't pick music+is really moody. Watch out for her on her bad days!
you are very lucky to have her. she is better then most high school conductors and many college band directors. trust me.
we play great music! works us hard, but makes us sound awesome. really knows her stuff!!!
besides being an awesome conductor and musician, she is a great person to talk to. she listens and gives good advice.
Da BEst conductor i've played under! very funny and always has chocolates!!
